11 reviews for COTZ Sensitive Non-Tinted Zinc Oxide Mineral Sunscreen for Body and Face; Broad Spectrum SPF 40; 3.5 oz / 100 g

  1. Pri

As a darker-skinned person, I have been on a mission to find a mineral sunscreen that is water-resistant with no chalky white cast and no sticky feeling AND no annoying fragrance. This one ticks all the boxes and it’s very impressive that it wears so elegantly with 20% zinc oxide in the formula. I like to avoid the chemical ones, and I have found non-water-resistant mineral options that wear quite elegantly, but water-resistant options with an elegant wear had long eluded me. I’d love to always wear my favorite non-water-resistant spf, but unfortunately those are not so helpful for when you’re at the beach/pool – on such days, I dread having to reach for the thick pasty gloopy water-resistant ones. I seriously wish I had found this sooner before spending on so many others that promised to be sheer zinc only to be the color and texture of white wall paint. My little one and I both have a medium brown skin tone so the chalky cast on most mineral spf turns us straight up grey/purple and worse yet, that grey purple cast lasts through multiple showers unless you seriously scrub it off your skin – not so great for kids or anyone with sensitive skin.

So this one melts into the skin nicely with minimal effort and virtually no white cast. I probably wouldn’t use it on the face as it’s a little heavy for my oily/combo skin, but on a child’s facial skin it would work just fine. It’s not sticky at all, so if you’re an adult with dry facial skin and/or don’t mind a bit of dewiness, it could work on the face, too. I just prefer to invest in more lightweight elegant options for the face – and in general they seem to make more elegant formulas for the face in under 2oz sizes so they’re not really applicable to the body, which is a bummer. While this isn’t as small as the ones made for the face, since you need much more for the body, I wish it came in a 5oz size for the price. I have tested like 30 different mineral water-resistant options by now, and this one along with the C’est Moi sunshine sunscreen are the two best I’ve found. If price is a factor with this one, I would recommend checking out C’est Moi as it is similar in texture, also leaves no white cast, is also fragrance-free, is also completely zinc oxide formulation, and cheaper.

Most importantly, if you have kids, this would make applying sunscreen on them much easier, since it’s impossible to get kids to sit still for more than a couple seconds before they run off.

This is the easiest to apply mineral sunscreen I’ve tried and leaves no white cast and doesn’t leave white marks on my bathing suit. It feels light and dry and lasts in the pool. I only reapply my shoulders after swimming or sweating to be safe, but probably don’t need to. It’s great for my sensitive skin that always itches with chemical sunscreen. This is a game changer!

It is expensive. Caused me to break out in spots ( and a pasty white face once the cream is on). It goes on rather like thick stage make-up and one has to rub quite firmly to distribute it into something “colourless” .

My Dermatologist rec Cotz . I have used many other sunscreen s but this is my favorite for ease of application and protection.

I’ve used a lot of sunscreen since I live in FL. This one is so good I’ve bought 2 more. However, I purchased them on a different website since the one I bought on Amazon never arrived. The package did but the package was empty! Thanks to Amazon’s excellent return policy I received a refund for the empty package. I love sunscreen because I have dry skin and its moisturizing without being greasy. It lasts all day and protects my skin from the FL sun. There’s no scent too so that’s nice. Highly recommend.

This is a product I have no hesitations and recommending it but I don’t like the big white look until kind of goes away I like the tinted better but they don’t seem to have it in the big tube you have to buy these little baby tubes I live in Florida so I need like maximum coverage in these little teeny tubes will not do it

have used multiple zinc oxide sunscreens. Some are better than others. I thought I’d give this one a try since it was so highly rated. Here are my pro’s and con’s of this particular brand.

    Pro:

    1) blends in easily
    2) no fragrance

Obviously, not very many pro’s. Sorry to all those that love this brand.

    Con’s:

    1) have to reapply every 40 minutes.
    2) very very greasy- I’m 50 and have dry skin and this makes my face an oil slick
    3) doesn’t protect as well as my cheaper Cerave
    4) dry patches and irritability of face after using
    5) EXPENSIVE compared to what I was using

I more than likely will NOT be repurchasing this since the cheaper Cerave, even with white cast, works far superior for a fraction of the cost to this. I used to use Murad until they changed the formula. I’ve also used Neutrogena that left my skin irritated and burnt.
I can’t use regular everyday sunscreen on my face. It literally feels like my face is on fire. I made that mistake yesterday because I didn’t want to have to reapply the Cotz multiple times while sitting out by the pool with my daughter. I was having a lazy day and I definitely payed for it. I didn’t get sun burnt but my face isn’t very happy and have dry patches because of it.

OK, I tried many mineral sunscreens (on the back of my hand) before we went to Maui (they only allow mineral sunscreen on the island). I chose this one because it did not turn white on my skin. We brought 3 or 4 kinds with us and this was the go-to sunscreen while we were there. The reason it was the sunscreen of choice was because it went on very easily. The others we brought were hard to spread. This one worked especially well with our college boys. They both have hairy legs and arms and this was so much easier to use for them than the other, thicker kinds. I had one son burn (face) while using this when we went up to the top of Haleakala volcano for a 4 mile hike, but we were at 10,000 feet, so more intense sun. He even reapplied after about 2 hours of hiking and still burned a little. I don’t think he put it on as generously as the rest of us did. Overall, it was a little greasier than the thicker sunscreens, but the ability to spread it and rub it in was worth it.

I like Cotz skin tone SPF 40 but I needed a non tinted formula too. I love the fact if u rub this in well it doesn’t leave a white cast and I’m white/black carribbean, so I have dark skin. The reason I have not gave this product more stars is because it makes your skin look greasy.. That’s if u put a decent amount on and with sunscreen if u want decent protection u need to put a decent amount on!

My favourite sunscreen for my face – nice and creamy, so easy to put on and not sticky, so very comfortable. Also, very good protection from the sun.

Wears well under makeup, no white cast and blocks the sun rays. Great for my sensitive skin.
