While most physical sunscreens have a faint white cast to them, the Dr Dennis Gross All-Physical Ultimate Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50 PA ++++ has no discernible white coating at all. As a matter of fact, this sunscreen turns sheer immediately.

This is one of the more liquid sunscreens I’ve used. In my experience (and trust me, I LOVE sunscreen, so I try them out frequently), quite a few sunscreens are either gel-like or creamy. This sunscreen has a white, liquid-y texture, and it’s very easy and fast to spread all over my face. I was able to pump some onto my hands (be careful, because it’s so watery, the sunscreen can squirt out uncontrollably if you aren’t careful) and spread it on my face in no time. It sinks it rapidly, completely colorless.

The one downside of this sunscreen is that it is shiny. It’s not oily, it’s not dewy; I mean SHINY. My face looked like it was polished. The sunscreen doesn’t clog my pores. It doesn’t feel heavy. However, be warned that although the sunscreen sinks in and there’s no white residue, your skin will look extra-glowy. I don’t know if this is good or bad, but it’s absolutely not matte coverage!

I highly recommend this. It’s easy to put on, and it doesn’t leave a white coating.

Love this product. Easy to apply and penetrates the skin immediately. I will buy it again.

I’ve been using the sunscreen for about six months and have been loving it! It’s one of the best on the market right now and it’s super lightweight. The only thing that you might need to get used to is the mineral smell, but this is pretty common with a lot of sunscreens.

It leaves no white cast which is great. Very lightweight. However, it leaves my face looking too greasy and shinny. I have to dab with oil absorbing paper.

I started using this a little over a month ago when I went through a cleansing out my skincare and makeup , learning about non pore clogging ingredients. This brand was recommended and I have Been extremely happy with it. My skin has never felt or looked so shiny !

My holy grail is fragrance free mineral sunscreens that leave minimal white cast and also protect against blue light, which is a big cause of melasma and brown sun spots. Brands are slowly getting wise to the blue light blocking demand. If they don’t specifically say it, I move on.

This one is a winner if you have dry skin because it can stay pretty greasy or shiny. But you can mattify it with any setting powder and it will last for many hours. Spf powder is a bonus! I use tretinoin (prescription retinoid) so I like the extra emollients. I find the mineral formulas are less apt to burn my eyes. For an spf 50, this one is surprisingly thin, which I appreciate. I give it a shake (just in case, because I have no idea if it would separate over time) and it is so easy to apply quickly, unlike some of the thicker spf 50 mineral brands that feel like spackle and look like kabuki makeup. I love the pump under the cap. Easy to dispense the right amount. Fragrance free is key. Fragrance of any kind, even from plants or essential oils, is an irritant and doesn’t belong on our faces.

Paulas Choice Essential Glow 30 spf is another good one with blue light blocking, but is also a bit shiny. Great sales direct from their web site. Tinted sunscreens with iron oxides also protect against blue light, but I don’t always want a tint, and finding a good color match is tricky. On my fair skin, Elta MD has been best match so far. Spendy, but I use it over non-tinted sunscreen and it lasts forever. CeraVe is much cheaper but too orangey on my skin. It seems to oxidize in the sun. My fave for tint is to just use It Cosmetics foundation which has spf 40. I use it sparingly over my sunscreen and I got a perfect color match when I bought it in person.

I was looking for a sunscreen that didn’t irritate my skin or eyes. This is a great, high-quality sunscreen.

Too watery and thin. The cap comes off easily so the new packaging is also a big drawback. The lotion is less a cream, more diluted so I will be looking for an alternative.
