At 50, I swear I have more acne now than I did as a teen. I’ve really been struggling with my face lately so I pulled this product out of my bin to revisit. Previously I only used it for spot treatments and it was fine, but this time I really needed to use this product on my entire face as the acne was everywhere. I have somewhat sensitive skin, and usually when I introduce a new product for the first time, I break out in a rash around my mouth/chin/upper lip area. A tiny bit goes a long, long way. Even though I applied this everywhere, I never broke out in a rash – anywhere. Since I started using my face has improved drastically. My skin is really soft too. I’ve been using it about every other day, every day in areas of bad breakouts, and have not experienced any dryness either. There is some scent that I think comes from the active ingredient but I don’t find it to be very bothersome or strong. I came here to purchase more and am sad that it’s not available at the time of my review. I hope that they have not discontinued the product as I really like it and it’s helped a lot.

I am older but still get nasty breakouts on both face and neck. This is my go-to spot treatment. I am used to heavy chemical peels, but still find this to be a strong spot treatment. That being said, I use a blip of the stuff on a new pimple to fade it quickly. Within a day or two it will fade enough to be invisible under a thin concealer, or even disappear. It can be drying the way that I use it, which is probably not for everyone, but for me it works great.

I’m an A-A woman with a brown complexion, extremely sensitive skin, and 3 decades of acne experiences . 1st online review I’ve ever done for a medication and I’m posting this for those who, like me, feel they have tried everything to no avail. Improvement really was experienced over night. I had several cysts due to maskne as well as hormonal acne that had gotten out of control. I was hesitant due to the reviews about sensitive skin. Tip: Do not apply immediately after washing your face; allow skin to dry completely then apply sparingly until you build up tolerance. I now can rub all over, but initial only applied as a spot treatment after allowing face to dry for at least 10-15 minutes. I’ve gotten compliments on the improvement, but dark spots are still in the process of fading so I wont post pics (yet). I will be sending a bottle to my sister though–that’s how confident I am in the product, AND I remember how difficult it was for me to afford $20+ products like proactive when I was in college. I hope they don’t raise pricing.
so that young people can afford it. I’ve stopped my Tazorac cream (Retin A category RX) as I am allowing this to hopefully fully clear the acne, then pursue texture improving treatments. My advice: try the product on one or two cysts and give it at least a week- you should feel a reduction in size quickly, though with cysts it could take a while for the under the surface portion to fully resolve. It WILL burn the heck out of you if you apply on damp skin when pores are still open. My overall improvement is now 80% after about a month of nightly applications—far more than with other products, and really it’s just the melanin pigmentation that remains problematic but I refuse to use hydroquinone because it breaks me out as quickly as it fades the spots. This product is gently fading the spots overtime. . Good luck– I feel your pain if you’ve suffered for years; don’t give up.
    * **No strong perfumes or fragrance which is also good .***UPDATED TO 5 STARTS A MY SKIN CONTINUES TO IMPRVE 😉 . It can be drying, but pimples are gone so I’ll take it!!!

I have ordered this several times.
I use to use persa gel10 and it would knock the pimples out fast.
But the acne would come back in those areas.
This product doesn’t have laureth 4
(Most OTC acne products do) and that I is like the highest comedogenic rating.
What works for some doesn’t always work for others.
I would try it. We all know how depressing acne can be.

    Works so well!

This product is definitely not a miracle worker, I gave it 3 stars because it didn’t burn my skin off or cause a bad reaction. It is not heavy and the consistency is very thin so hard to use for spot treatment and I wouldn’t recommend putting it all over your face. Like most benzoyl peroxide products it will cause some redness. I have very fair skin and I get occasional hormonal breakouts, and my skin is naturally oily on my forehead and chin. I was using this for about 5 days in a row on some of the small hormonal acne on my forehead. As I said it didn’t burn me but I expected there to be some redness or dry skin after, just par for the course with most acne products. While there was some redness it did not dry out my skin or make my acne worse. It didn’t really seem to do much of anything to reduce the size of my acne. I’ve gone back to my tried and true Acne-Free brand for spot treatment which has 10% BP and works better for me. Everyone skin is different and will react differently to every product. Once in a while I can afford to shell out some $ for great products and that is when I love my skin. For anyone with skin like mine that is fair, not too sensitive, and has occasional adult or hormonal acne (this can be very frustrating and annoying in your 30’s or 40’s), the real miracle workers are Retinol, and any product that has both Glycolic and Salicylic acid together. These work only if they remain on your face for a long period of time so don’t waste money on expensive face washes with these products. Put your money on serums or overnight treatment creams. That’s where you’ll get real results. I have been through hundreds of different brands and types of facial products and the ones that work the best are these. The brands I like best are Skin Medica, they have an excellent retinol treatment. If you are looking for something that really works but can’t afford to pay hundreds for face stuff the try Nip-Fab glycolic fix gel. It smells funny but it works great and it’s $10 at the most. Hope this helps
