The “gold standard” in the US for OTC hair loss treatment is minoxidil and has been approved and widely available for decades. It has been proved effective with a plethora of clinical data.

This Revita shampoo is also designed to promote hair growth and thickness. However, the main active pharmaceutical ingredient is different. Instead of minoxidil, Revita contains nanoxidil. The two compounds are structurally similar but not the same. In theory, nanoxidil may offer some advantages…especially for female pattern hair loss. However, there is not enough data to support the claim, the product has only been commercially available in the US for a few years (compared to minoxidil), and there appears to be limited interest from major pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare companies.

Since individual results will vary, I will review the Revita shampoo only on personal observations and objective materials. The product I received was recently manufactured and has a 2-yr shelf life. For an OTC product, this is quite acceptable. The brand is sold by, DS Labs, a US-based brand under the South American company Megalabs (based in Uruguay). However, the Revita products are made in the USA.

As a shampoo, I found it works as intended to clean hair/scalp via plant-based cleansers. However, compared to other products the Revita brand is quite expensive.

makes hair feel soft and look full

I started using this after one year of using the original formula which I loved. The original left my hair so soft and shiny. Figured I would give the extra strength a try. After one week my hair is so dried out, even with using the conditioner. So bummed. And, the scent is just horrible. Passed my window for return as I didn’t start using it right away so I’m stuck with it. Going back to the original.

I’ve used this for about 2 months now. Sometimes daily. Sometimes just a few times a week. To be honest, I don’t notice and sort of extra hair growth out of the norm. I have fine and somewhat thin hair after having many children and have tried other products over the years. I maybe notice a little difference in the overall strength of my hair. The scent is very neutral and you get a decent amount. It looks like a small bottle, but it lasts quite a long time. I still have quite a lot left. I do plan to continue use until gone, and if in the chance I do start to see a more significant difference, I will be back to add to the comments.

I’ll get to my headline in a minute, but I should mention that well this doesn’t technically have sulfites, it is not the most gentle thing on your hair. That said it seems to do a good job and bringing some fullness after constant use.
But let’s get to the smell. I am a woman with thin hair unfortunately this not only smells like a guy but it smells like a guy I wouldn’t wanna be around. I have minoxidil and other similar formulas frequently and am well aware that they do not have a smell, not like this. it is somewhere between old spice, grandpa, and car salesman. So even if you’re a man who might want to use this, it’s still might not be your smell – everyone likes to smell different and I think that this shampoo could’ve gone with something a little bit more neutral and a little bit less men’s locker room.
All said, it helps with fullness. So whatever?

This shampoo is really good. Smells nice and is not too thin. It lathers well. Seems to grow my hair and thinkened in no time. Love how it makes my hair feel. Pricing is higher than most but worth the money.
