Bands expand and loose elasticity with use. New version (2023) is larger and has less elasticity than version purchased in 2022.
The blue band in the center of the image is the length and width that the bands (in all colors) shipped in a year ago (Dec 2022). The blue one also more closely resembles the vendor’s product images on the Amazon page’s retail listing.
They are comfortable for long, thick hair and easy to remove. However, after several uses, they stretch out and curl inwards — and do not have the same visible width as when they are new — and you will need to wrap them several more times in order to get the same secure hold.
We like them and ordered a replacement set of each color option because they work best before they stretch out. Unfortunately, the new sets are looser (less tight elasticity) and are wider in dimension than the ones we received a year ago — and we are disappointed that the elasticity of the new ones is already looser and the fabric’s width is narrower than the ones we received a year ago.
In the attached image, the band at the top is the new (unused) size we received this year (2023), the blue one in the middle is an example of the version that shipped new a year ago (that we have not used), and the one at the bottom is an example of a black one from our original 2022 order that used to be the shape and size of the blue one in the middle — but has stretched out and lost a significant degree of elasticity after use.
It’s not that they are unusable after several uses — but it is the case that they curl into themselves and get narrower as they lose elasticity — and after a couple of uses you will need to make more loops to get the same degree of secure hold that you will get when they are new.
Overall — we like them well enough to have ordered all three sets again — only a year later — however — we are concerned that the 2023 version is significantly looser (before use) and we hope that the manufacturer goes back to the original design and/or original fabric — or finds a way to improve the elasticity so that they will retain their tightness for more uses.
We would also like an option for a set with six black, and three each of the charcoal grey and silver.

I have very thin hair, and it’s always been difficult to keep a ponytail high for an extended period. It would usually slip and get weighed down. This hair band keeps my ponytail exactly where I want it, lifted and secure, without causing a headache from pulling. Very useful – highly recommend!
