Emu oil is a miracle. I’ve been using it since 1996 when I first discovered it. Emu oil is fat rendered from the emu bird. It is liquid at room temperature and remains stable (not rancid) for very many months and even a few years.
As for all the health benefits and how I use it, there are many uses for PEOPLE.
    • It’s known to heal burns and dramatically accelerate healing, provide soothing relief, and improve scaring. Emus are native to Australia, as I understand it, and Aborigines use emu oil specifically for healing, especially for burns. Clinical studies of burn victims, again as I understand it, have shown how dramatic emu oil is to rapid healing.
    • I use emu oil after doing my own chemical peel, which I tend to do strong (called medium) chemical peels at home with serious peeling, swelling, bruising. It’s the absolute best for healing most quickly – better than coconut, olive, and other nut and seed oils – which are all excellent healing oils.
    • Emu oil is known for increasing the efficacy of other chemicals used with it, so it is considered a ‘carrier oil’ like almond oil is. That means when I apply copper serum to my skin first and then emu oil; it amplifies the benefits of the serum. This is especially helpful after my chemical peel when I apply copper serum, it stings and emu oil soothes my inflamed skin immediately and provides soothing for hours after application. Emu oil is supposed to be excellent when combining with arthritis rubs because it’s such excellent carrier oil.
    • Because of its benefit of a carrier oil and it’s so emollient – its consistency is slippery and viscous – emu oil is amazing to rub out existing bruises and swelling that leads to bruising. I’m a bleeder and a bruiser. It’s bad. When I do paralytics, I’ll rub in the emu oil where I had the injections as a preventative measure so I can keep my secret (and tell the world on Amazon. So much for discretion!) As for fillers, also use emu oil on the entire area where the filler is injected. Emu oil is perfect for doing the deep rubbing and massaging necessary to make the filler supple, soothe the swelling, prevents worse bruising, and integrate the filler into its area.
    • Apply emu oil to rashes for quick healing and soothing. It is especially helpful with eczema, psoriasis, shingles, and herpes outbreaks. It helps to break open the blisters with an antiseptic like alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or witch hazel. Rashes that are contagious spread through the liquid in the blisters when they break. This is how rashes spread on yourself (like from mouth to genitals and vice versa for herpes) and from different places on your body (like eczema). For the love of God, check with your doctor if you have something as painful as shingles. I recommend this as a home remedy, but there is no substitute for medical intervention when you need massive doses of medicine just to get by.
    • Emu oil is to be antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory. This is also true of very many nut and seed oils like coconut, almond, olive, and so on. So apply emu oil to cleansed cuts, scrapes, scabs, scars, boo boos, ouchies.
    • Emu oil helps a ton with insect bites. I overreact to mosquito bites where it swells to a quarter size wheal. It’s worse on my feet and ankles where multiple bites swell that appendage. Using my mom’s trick to eliminate the itch and sting, apply ammonia or Windex that contains ammonia to the bite sight. It then develops a bubble of water that becomes salt, which you just brush off. (How does this work? Bug bites are acidic and ammonia is base. Adding an acid to a base creates water and salt – basic stoichiometry in chemistry! Bug bite acids are the same ‘strength’ as vinegar (acetic acid), and an equivalent ‘strength’ base is ammonia. A much stronger base is bleach, which I would probably use to neutralize a scorpion sting – God help me.)
    • Massaging emu oil into the scalp stimulates hair growth and treats dandruff. It’s great to treat dry, brittle hair. You can sleep with emu oil on your head and face and it won’t permanently stain your sheets in that it washes out completely and easily. That’s true of all natural oils: animal fats, vegetables and nut/seed oils. Know that synthetic oils don’t wash out, like mineral oil or Vaseline that’s petroleum based. I’m reminded of the eternal clothing stains when black men enjoyed the Jeri Curl of the late, great eighties.
    • It is an amazing lubricant for your nether regions. Instead of KY, use emu oil. It’s longer lasting, doesn’t dry out, you can eat it (tastes like chicken!), and it causes no infections the way synthetic oils can. You can also use emu oil (and coconut oil) to lubricate devices inserted into uncomfortable spots.
    • Chewing on hangnails is huge source of illness from infection. I know because I do it to myself all the time. It’s compulsive. But if your immunity is compromised, an infected hangnail could cause serious problems or worsen existing ones. Yipes. To treat it, rub emu oil all over your hands, drenching the cuticles. Then wear nifty little cotton gloves to keep them covered. I’ve used a pair of white cotton sox when I didn’t have those nifty little gloves.
    • Same treatment goes for your feet, especially if you have those big, thick, nasty callouses and cracked dry beds for the soles of your feet. Try and remove the callous to the extent desired or possible, then slather on emu oil and slip on your socks, then wear your slippers if walking around (or you might leave footprints).
As for all the benefits of emu oil for PETS, they are also many.
    • I feed my new little rescue puppy emu oil along with his raw food diet many times throughout the day. After we rescued him, we realized that he was starving and extremely thirsty. To build his health and help him gain weight – he is skin and bones, you can see his little ribs and he has a really big hollow between his ribs and hips – I load up his frequent meals with decent doses of emu oil (and salmon oil, coconut oil, olive oil – no walnut or macadamia oil because that is toxic to dogs).
    • Emu oil is wonderful to rub on your dog or cat’s skin and fur. My other dog, also a rescue with health and especially immunity issues – that’s how we discovered the raw food diet by Darwin’s and The Honest Kitchen), developed a painful and itchy rash on her belly down to her lower legs. She used to bite herself incessantly and go crazy. I rubbed her belly and all along her legs with a slathering of emu oil. It was so soothing and helped resolved the problem.
    • If a food safe to eat, then it is safe to apply to skin. Same for pets as for people, but so many ‘people things’ can kill or harm dogs and cats. So having the peace of mind of applying emu oil to their aggravated skin, knowing that they will lick it off and that it is safe and healthy, is a wonderful thing. When they lick it off, keep reapplying it! It’s good for them.

    Hello to my fellow Amazonites:

I give mostly 5 star reviews I have noticed. It’s not because I am easily satisfied because I am not. I demand the best. I then realized the reason is because before I purchase anything I spend a lot of time researching it to find the best, so I usually get the best. Rarely am I disappointed. So goes for this wonderful product. I would not have believed it was possible for this product to do what it did, and to think, I actually ordered this for dry skin. I remain amazed.

I am on 2 narcotic pain medications plus Lyrica and anti-inflamatory meds for chronic pain due to early onset of arthritis in my hips, spine, groin, pelvis and knees. I can barely walk anymore and when I try I pop like popcorn, it is so noisy and painful. I need both hip and knee replacements. Lately, it has gotten so bad that my strong narcotic meds barely touch this pain. It is a sharp , deep pain that hurts when I just touch my skin. i have gotten very little sleep at all. I had remembered I use to buy this super blue cream in a jar that seemed to help my pain and it had Emu oil. That was when my pain was not nearly this bad though. I could not sleep and was crying in pain. Every move was so painful. I decided to rub some of this on me where it hurts, thinking I had nothing to lose but doubted it would help this kind of pain intensity. I rubbed it on one side only. I fell asleep. I awoke in pain soon after but the side I put it on was not the side that woke me up hurting, it was the other side. I could not believe it and tried to rationalize it. Then I rubbed it on the other side and same thing. it just works.I research things “to death” I have been told. I give up trying to figure out how. I usually have to crawl up the stairs on hands and knees and today I walked up. Yes, I have pain and still need the hip and knee replacements but I walked up! I also noticed I did not have the popping and cracking with every step, only some. To me that is a big deal.

I intend to continue using this. I intend to research other uses for it. A little goes a long way . I also massaged my scalp with it as I have heard it is great for your scalp and hair. I still have to wash it out but am expecting my hair to be in better condition. I just put it on a little cyst with pain my son has on his ear/jaw to see if it will help. If not …to the Dr.

You can guess by now that I highly recommend this Emu Oil and this company. I also want to say that when the Post Office held up my order , I did not know at the time, I thought it might be lost, this wonderful company Fed Exed me out another bottle. They were so kind and helpful.

Please try this product and purchase it from this company. Their product is excellent. I can not smell a poultry oder in it at all. It is light color and creamy texture which means high quality Emu Oil. It may or may not work for you but if it does it will save you some suffering. It is worth a try!

    Blessings!

1/23/11 UPDATE: I still use and love this and am going to order more. Today my son had a bad case of the flu with bad joint aches. I used this on him and his pain subsided almost immediately. He was able to finally sleep. This stuff works.

I also mix this now with Cobraxin , also sold on amazon and is a miracle pain reliever also. Mixed, they work even better together. Cobraxin is made with cobra venom and has the recommendation of the Arthritis Foundation. I mix them because the Emu Oil helps joint and muscle pain and so does Cobraxin, but, Cobraxin leaves me with the smallest amount of warmth, ‘heat ‘sensation. Together they really “pack a punch”.
