Our son has oily hair but hates the smell of tea tree oil; many other shampoos set off his allergies. This is a great, lower-priced alternative for oily scalps and hair.
If your hair is dry, rough or needs a good trim, this does strip oils from the scalp and hair. You may need a light conditioner, after. His hair didn’t need that and looked great.

I was using Cake “The Gentle Giant” shampoo by Marc Anthony, which worked great for my naturally oily hair, but unfortunately it appears to have been discontinued. It’s always difficult to find shampoo that gently cleans without leaving residue / oil. My hair is so naturally oily that I shampoo every night and I have never had a shampoo that dries out my hair.
So many shampoos tend to be full of oil and while I’m not positive this is the cause, I think their oil + plus my natural oil causes my hair to feel too oily and full of residue too quickly. This in turn causes itching and discomfort.
Reluctant to search for another shampoo again, I came across this Garnier product. I like the price and that it’s vegan friendly. And it claims to remove up to 100% of residue. So I gave it a shot.
I tried this concurrently with other brands that claim to be “clarifying” shampoos, and at first none of them felt as good as the Cake shampoo. By the fifth or so wash using this product, my hair felt light, not oily and what I know to be clean.
It took about five or so washes with this shampoo to clean really well, and now after using it several weeks in a row I can say it cleans well like the old Cake one did.
So most importantly, don’t give up after the first few tries if you have thick oily hair like me. The effectiveness of this shampoo really kicked in after about the fifth wash. Seems like shampoos do require a transition period. Good luck! I hope you find this shampoo to work well like I did.

I bought this shampoo because it claims to be an eco friendly shampoo.
My hair and scalp tends to get oily after a day of not shampooing.
So I wash my hair everyday with this shampoo. Even so my scalp become very itchy I don’t know what causing it.
I washed my hair again with my almost empty head and shoulder shampoo. The itchiness is immediately gone.
The H&S is done and I’m using Dove shampoo, also no itchy reaction from these two brands. Well too bad, I was hoping to be more eco friendly.

I am So excited about this product. Actually to be honest, I’m shocked! I had this horrendous oil patch I was using apple cider vinegar but my gosh really I couldn’t keep that up it wasn’t really clearing up the problem. I tried this and the oil patch is Completely Gone!!!! And not only that I don’t have to wash my hair as frequently I’m telling ya I was on day 4 today and probably could have gone 1 more day without washing. My hair is soft not greasy and looking much more healthy!!

As a guy with thin, greasy hair, this product does an adequate job of making me presentable as a human being. My hair will survive for about 12 hours before it gets gross again, and touching it makes me embarrassed to be seen in public. Would love a solution that lasted longer, but until I find it, Fructis Pure Clean is my head jam of choice.
