I have used the Gillette ProGlide for a few years now. Once I ran out of blades I decided to try the Lab model.
First off, the Proglide feels better in my hand. Partly, because of the weight and the overall design of the handle.
The Lab comes with a stand, which I didn’t really want to use as I have a nice razor stand. However, the Lab does not fit on a standard stand, thus I am forced to use the Lab’s stand. The stand is okay, but I prefer the traditional stand. Also, with the Lab’s stand it is easy to knock the razor blade off as it is not very secure.
As for the shave, there might be a slight improvement with the Lab razor design, however not that much difference. The Lab has an exfoliating bar, however it doesn’t extend the full length of the razor blades, but not sure it is a detriment.
For now, I am going back to the ProGlide. Perhaps Gillette will improve the handles design by increasing its weight and making it about to fit a standard razor blade stand.

At times I am able to get products to test in order to write a review. Due to my need to find a razor that is reliable and necessary for work and looking my best I’ve decided to experiment with a few different ones, admittedly, when I see there is a discount coupon and the feedback is positive.
Using this was extremely easy as was getting some of the hair out of it. I didn’t get any cuts and I use this at times for areas including my head which has all manner of problem areas. Afterwards, this was a very smooth shave and felt great.
The magnetic base is somewhat heavy but isn’t very good because the area to put in the bottom of the razor doesn’t match very well. The manufacturer should work on it. My suggestion would be a base but with a pole that would be magnetic and then the stem of the razor would hold. This way instead of the bottom being problematic, including if it gets filled with debris, liquid, etc and causing issues, it would be more freestanding and better able to look nice on the counter if given a strict 180 degree slant.
I’m happy with the purchase and just ordered more blades with subscribe & save.
