  1. m-o-o-n, that spells moon

This is a review that is somewhat close to my heart, more so than other items I have purchased out here. You see, two and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. They told me that everything would be fine, I would just have surgery and a little radiation, and go on my way. Then the tests came back with the news I was dreading to hear, that my cancer was of a type that would require chemotherapy, and Herceptin treatment.
The first thing you think of is “Am I going to die?”. After that, “Will I lose my hair?” if not the number one question, it is still very high on the list for most women. Hair loss may seem like a very small thing in comparison to all the other things you have to cope with, and many a time I felt like my priorities were out of whack for concerning myself with my hair at such a time, but the reason it’s so troubling is because one minute you look great and feel ok, and the next your entire self is completely transformed into someone you don’t recognize. It’s very shocking to see your appearance so drastically altered in a matter of weeks, and this transformation drives it home hard that you are really and truly in trouble.
At other times in my life, I faked it until I could make it, spent more attention on my hair and makeup to project an image of health and well being to myself when I looked in the mirror, as I am a strong believer in the connection between PMA and the success of overcoming a life challenge of this sort, but this one… at the end of the day you are taking off your wig and washing off the eyebrows you drew on, and the image coming back to you makes it much harder to realize that one day you will feel and look much better. After a year of chemo infusions my hair started coming back, and as it started growing in more fully it came back in these beautiful ringlets. I always wanted curly hair, and enjoyed my beachy ringlets to the max last summer. It’s starting to come in much straighter at the roots now though, so I have been pampering what is left of the curls. I still have to take chemo in a pill form for the next 5 to 10 years, what is known as a hormone blocker. I started taking the hormone blockers right after the worst of the infusions were over, and it has been very trying to find a hormone blocker that I could actually tolerate in the way of side effects. I’ve been taking them for a year or so now, and have been noticing various changes. Now that the curly part is pretty well grown out, and since I have been on the hormone blockers, I have been noticing that my hair seems to be thinning, most noticeably on top and around my forehead. The main cause of thinning in average women is hormonal, and with them tinkering with mine, it makes sense to me that the drugs I take have something to do with it. While in treatment I of course did numerous web searches to find out if there were any way to get the hair to grow back more quickly. While searching, I did find quite a few posts on cancer forums to the effect that dandruff shampoos containing Ketoconazole may help to restore one’s hair after chemo. Before trying this product, I also searched for the role of caffeine in hair growth, and there are actually some studies out there about it. I find it reassuring that I can find studies on a variety of sites that suggest this formula really could offer a good benefit for hair restoration, so I am hopeful.
I have been using this treatment for about a week so far, I’m still getting acquainted with it, but so far so good. My hair seems fluffier. I have always had very oily hair, and this stuff seems pretty effective for combating the oil and build up. The formula is very thick, and I start with wetting my hair down well, and kind of lathering it a bit in my hands before applying. It doesn’t lather the way a drug store shampoo does, and I am still trying to work out what would be the best way to use this treatment. I’m from the tv generation that grew up being told that the way to use a shampoo is “lather, rinse, repeat”, and with the notion that a shampoo must lather in order to be effective. I only lather once with this stuff, and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing it out. I have also tried it by doing one lather with my normal shampoo, and then using the hair surge. Your mileage may vary 🙂 I do find that it seems to leave my hair a bit dry, and use some conditioner on the ends so I can comb it out and style it more easily. It doesn’t seem like I need to use very much of this at all, and my hair looks good today. I’m glad to have given it a try, it’s too soon to tell if it will help my hair grow, but I do find improvement in the fullness and texture of my hair, and can’t wait to see how my hair is at the end of a month of treatment 🙂

I hate to admit it (because of the price) but this is really good.

I’m 24 Male and just starting to recede around the front, this genuinely makes my scalp feel great and my hair looks really good.

    It’s expensive but worth it.

BACKGROUND I have been a bit… abusive to my hair over the years. Bleaching and dyeing it neon colors, hacking into it myself to create original assymetrical pixie cuts, and some periods of daily hot ironing while it was a bob has taken its toll on my hair and it’s taken me years to get it to look as healthy as it now does. Still I am no longer in my twenties, and I’ve noticed recently: 1. Thinning at my hairline no matter which way I part my bangs. 2. A lot of breakage and fly aways along the crown and sides my mane. I was hoping a shampoo designed to increase hair growth would help my hair line catch up and strengthen the areas where my hair breaks off, plus help it grow loooonnng for summer time which is what I want.

    USAGE NOTES
-The product itself has a very sweet lemon/lime smell. I like it a lot.
    – It lathers very well for me, and I leave it on for the 2 minutes suggested by the manufacturer while I shave my legs. I use most of it on my scalp because that’s where the roots are. It’s so expensive I don’t like wasting it on the ends, so I just make sure I get the ends as I’m rinsing it out.
    – I pair it with my favorite conditioners, especially along my ends. My hair has never been softer, smoother or shinier.
-The directions on the bottle say to use it 5 times a week. I have had the product for one week and used it only 4 times bc I don’t like to wash my hair so often.

    RESULTS
    1. Much less breakage! It only took one use to see this result. My shower has less hair in it after I wash, and my fingers don’t pull away pieces of hair when I run my fingers through it. After one week I have noticeable fewer new flyways at the crown of my head!
    2. Shinier. I thought I was imagining it at first, but I’m not. I mentioned before that I dye my hair a lot. I would LOVE to stop dyeing it but the color I use now (reddish brown with red highlights) is so vibrant/shiny and my roots are such a dull (natural) brown that I usually break down and let vanity win and I do my roots. After two days of using this shampoo I looked in the mirror and was astounded to see that my natural hair growth at the roots is just as shiny as the color treated parts. It looks fantastic and I have the confidence I need to just let my natural color grow itself out into an ombre now.
    3. New growth? After 4 uses I checked out my hairline. I can see baby hairs growing in, but I feel like it would take a LOT more use to really notice any significant filler. I will try to update this review after using it longer so I can report on whether it really made my hair grow in thicker in the problem areas, or faster all around.

Saw the top star reviews on the US Amazon site and it seemed like an amazing product. I’m guessing it works based on what is causing your hair to fall out. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Made my hair and scalp very dry and flaky. Not only did hair not grow but I started to lose hair initially.

The consistency does not lather up much so you need a lot to actually clean your hair. I’m disappointed especially give the price but maybe it just didn’t work for me and might work for others.

  5. Amazon Customer

It doesn’t work! I am loosing more hair than usual. It’s painful to watch.

I have been using this for exactly one month today and the results are amazing! I’ve tried so many tablets and shampoo systems over a few years now to grow my hair long and nothing’s worked like this. I had my hair done 2 weeks prior to using this and I have attached pictures of my rootage for the last 6 weeks to show. my hair is growing like crazy and not only that it’s so silky and thick 🙂 expensive product but worth the money to get results!

  7. Nic

I’ve been using this shampoo since June and I’m very pleased with the results, as my hair is just starting to look a little thicker. It’s not an enormous difference, but I wasn’t expecting miracles.

Yes the price is a bit outrageous! But I still haven’t finished the bottle I purchased in June as I find that one pump is enough to wash my short hair, and the bottle feels like it’s got a few weeks left to go before it runs out. At this rate using this shampoo is likely to cost me about £30 a month which I feel is worth it for better looking hair.

I’ve already purchased a second bottle and will continue using this shampoo.
