Our son is autistic and his sensory issues make haircuts difficult. He is very frightened of electric clippers. I bought these thinking they were a bit of a gimmick. No. They are really great and, with a bit of time, resulted in a nice clean hair cut. Thank you for making this product!

Muy buena calidad y sobre todo puntuales al entregar

I love how these let me cut my sons hair like a clipper, but without the noise/vibration. Scissors were always choppy and clippers were hard for him to sit through. This little purchase is going to lift a lot of the stress from haircuts- except in figuring the parts out I sliced my thumb. Oops!
If you have a sensory kiddo this is a great investment

Not for afro hair. The lowest is not low enough. If you have short afro hair, and you want to create a phasing, not possible cause the lowest clip is not low enough
It’s more for sleek long hair kids, that you are trying to trim off.

I used this on my baby and he actually didnt mind it at all. Would recommend for even if your child doesn’t have sensory needs, they’re just quick and easy to use and pays for themselves in 2 uses

I was skeptical, but now that I’ve tried them, these are AMAZING! My child is autistic and not a fan of haircuts whatsoever. We usually buzz cut his hair at home. I’ve tried plain old scizzors but it didnt turn out nice at all. Going out to a hair dresser is too overwhelming for him. So I decided to try these scizzor clippers and this was the FIRST haircut with NO tears shed. It’s not an absolutely perfect haircut, but this was our first time using the scizzor clippers, and I bet we will get better with practice. I truely wish we bought these sooner.

The idea behind this product is a good one. We tried it once when it was delivered a few days ago. This review is being written after that one experience.

    THE CONS:
Personally, I think it will work better for people with straight hair. I think it was designed that way. The instructions? For people with straight hair. The instructional video? For people with straight hair. The safety guards? For people with straight hair.

My son is Black. His hair is not straight at all. He has thick, tight curls. The safety guards in the set are too long for him. I wanted his hair to be low but even using the #1 guard, it is still too high. There should be a 0.5 or even lower option. We will never use any of the guards from size 3 up. I had hoped to cut his hair every 4-5 weeks as I did when I used scissors and a clipper but at this height (of hair; his hair isn’t long, it’s high), it will have to be every two weeks if I can convince him.

    THE PROS:
The product is genius. My son usually complains from BEFORE the beginning of the haircut until long after it ends. He is not autistic (to my knowledge) but he doesn’t like the sound of ELECTRIC clippers or the way the blades tug on his hair. His behavior during barber trips made me start cutting his hair at home but I don’t do it well. He prefers a scissor cut but I can’t make it even with scissors so I usually start with scissors to remove the bulk and then finish with clippers to level it off. He says this approach is “torture.” WITH THESE CLIPPERS, however, he only complained TWICE and at the end (it took perhaps half as much time as his usual haircut), he said he likes these. That’s a big win for me. It wasn’t as level as I would have liked, and it wasn’t as short as I wanted, but my son, who is 11, says I can cut his hair more frequently if I use these. Another win. I will figure out the best way to make it level over time. I suspect it wasn’t level because I didn’t detangle it properly beforehand.

I have already encouraged other parents with children who hate haircuts to try these.

My sons will not allow anyone but me near their hair, and despite YouTube tutorials I haven’t been able to master haircuts with traditional shears. Then I found these on Amazon and was excited to try them!

It comes with an instructional booklet, a storage case, a cleaning brush, and some hard plastic cards to keep the guards neat and organized. I thought that was a nice touch!

It did take some trial and error to figure out the correct way to hold and angle the clippers. I almost thought I accidentally ordered a pair of left handed scissors, lol. Due to the nature of the design, it’s difficult to manuver them around the front and left side (the opposite side of my dominant hand), so you will have to move with the scissors – you can’t stand behind them to do all the cutting like you would with regular shears. The images in the instructions were very helpful though!

You want to go slow when cutting off the length. If you try to do the quick snips right off the bat, you will pull their hair. Follow the instructions by cutting pieces of the length off before you do the quick snips to even everything out. Taking your time is super important.

My sons don’t like the cape, but that is their personal preference rather than anything being wrong with it.

This product comes with AMAZING customer service!! Their clippers have a lifetime guarantee. One of the guards broke as I tried to put it on the clippers – I believe it was a manufacturing error, since it didn’t seem to fit properly and I didn’t have that problem with the rest of the guards. I contacted customer service to ask about a replacement. I received a response before the end of the day, and they sent me one free of charge as well as a complimentary pair of safety scissors!

Overall, for the price this product is WELL worth my sanity and my boys’ comfort. It’s an amazing invention & you won’t regret buying it!!

I had an issue with one of the attachments not fitting correctly and eventually breaking. I reached out to customer service with an email and pictures and they immediately sent me a replacement along with a complimentary set of safety point scissors. The new part fits great. The shear set works well once you get the knack of it. Also helps to experiment with the tension setting on the shears to dial it in well. If you are willing to take the time and learn how to best use these, they take a lot of stress out of getting haircuts for children with sensory issues.

I have just finished cutting my son’s hair for the first time using the Calming Clippers and I can’t believe how user friendly and easy it was.

Our 9 year old boy grew petrified of having his hair cut at the barbers- whether it was with the machine or the scissors. The whole event was becoming traumatic for him. As he is pre verbal autistic he expressed his upset through hitting himself, screaming and lashing out at others.
BUT NOT TODAY!!!!! Calming Clippers- this is some kind of wizardry. I can’t thank you enough. Amazing product. And then I watched your video on how the product is made and oh my goodness- I am so moved. Thank you!

    Dervla,
    A very happy mother!!

I bought the Calming Clipper for my son’s haircuts, and it has been a fantastic purchase. My son has sensory sensitivity, and regular clippers would make him anxious because of the loud noise. The Calming Clipper is completely silent, which has made haircuts so much easier and less stressful for both of us.

The different attachments make it easy to get the right length, and the kit includes everything I need to give him a great haircut at home. The instructions were clear, and I felt confident using it from the first time. Now, haircuts are no longer something we have to dread. This product has truly been a game-changer for us!

I highly recommend it to any parent with a child who has sensory sensitivity or anxiety around haircuts.
