Did not cover to protect from sunburn and doesn’t appear to have helped acquire a tan. I have fair skin and it is hard for me to tan regardless. Might work better for someone who tans easily. It seemed to require very often reapplied to keep from burning.

There is so much I love about this product! I get it via Subscribe and Save, for around 6 bucks and change, for the 6.76 oz size bottle. In the formula for Medium color, Hempz Yuzu & Starfruit Touch Of Summer Moisturizing Gradual Self-tanning Creme… Great value for a moisturizing, self-tanning, and sunblock all-in-one product!

I limit myself to using it around twice a week at most. This keeps my color looking natural and consistent without looking orangey. It’s not tinted but I find it does look more natural after rinsing it off. It does not have the strong DHA smell that most do, the tropical scent is very pleasant to me and my husband (who has complained about every other self-tanner scent I’ve applied) even says it smells good.

I apply it like other self-tanners. After an exfoliating shower and shave, apply a regular moisturizer first to absorbant areas like feet, hands, knees, elbows, etc. Then working from bottom to top, I apply like a lotion with long sweeping motions and then only applying residual amounts to more absorbant areas.

When I first tried this, I tested it on my face, as I read others do so in small amounts. Unfortunately, I formed some milia, small white bumps, under my eyes. I looked at the product website and read that it is not recommended for the face, it is not tested to be non comedogenic. So I stick to another product that is made for use on facial skin.

This keeps on the skin well, it doesn’t look cracked over time or fade strangely if not exfoliated off, like some others I’ve tried over the years. I don’t use a mitt, I used to use disposable gloves but have found that as long as I use a regular lotion on my hands first and then wash my hands afterwards, it doesn’t leave me with the obvious orange palms that they can all cause.

The last time I used this on vacation, I used it in the morning or at night and then used regular SPF for re-applications during the day. But reapplying other products over this, will still lead to orange palms if you don’t wash your hands after rubbing over it, even hours later. So just something to be aware of. It thankfully does not stain clothes or sheets. If you sweat, it will appear stained but fully washes off with regular laundering, without the need for stain removers.

My reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that this product is unfortunately not reef friendly. It is paraben free, gives a wonderful glow, has ingredients for radiance, smells good, and is wonderfully soothing… For under a buck an ounce, it’s difficult to complain! But I’d pay more for the chemicals that harm our oceans to be removed. Hopefully the manufacturer already has something in the works. Smile. Hope this helps someone.

This is an amazing product! It works super quickly and looks very natural without that yucky orange look or the nasty smell. Note, it’s not a great idea to put it on your legs and immediately put on white shorts as it does get on the shorts. However, it cleans off well when washed.

This brand used to come out with a giant bottle of gradual self tanning lotion years ago, and I was desperately searching for it when I found this product. It’s not nearly the same amount, and probably double the price, but it smells amazing and worked as I wanted it to! It was definitely a gradual self tanning lotion. I used it a few times a week, it wasn’t very intense or unnatural/orange at all.

My sister turned me on to this stuff & it’s amazing. I see results after one application, and I plan to continue buying/applying this all year long. The tan looks natural, not orange at all. I definitely recommend.

liked the smell, and it went on evenly, moisturizing, and I didn’t sunburn while wearing it

I have olive colored skin. This makes me very bronze and tan. Love it

So, all I saw was this was lotion and it has SPF in it. It wasn’t until after using it about three times that I realized…it wasn’t working? I was tan, which means I’m not protected from the sun, right? Nope!! It’s self tanner too 😅. I didn’t want the self tanning, and so, I found one in this brand without it. But the tanner worked really well! It didn’t wash off easily—Or at all it seemed—And it was a nice color on my arms. (My palms could’ve been happier not being slightly orange). If anyone needs self tanner, I’d suggest this one. Smells great, applies easy, and lasts for a good bit of time.
