  1. SunLuvr

Due to extreme allergies and sensitivities, I have an incredibly hard time finding any topical products that don’t set off an allergic reaction. Whether it is body lotions, face serums, or sunscreens, I throw away 99% of what I purchase due to unpleasant reactions, and that gets OLD. I realized about 10 years ago that I react to chemical sunscreens, so I’ve been using only physical (mineral) sunscreens since then. I’ve tried SO MANY (maybe all of them??) and they all had downsides. Either there was added fragrance, or just an off smell from the ingredients themselves, or they would leave a white cast or be too thick to rub in or cause my eyes to water or my nose to run… you get the gist. It’s been rough.

But then I found this Hero Force Shield Superlight sunscreen and it is my HOLY GRAIL! It absorbs quickly, leaves no visible trace on the skin, and has ZERO fragrance! I have applied this sunscreen to my face, neck, and arms/shoulders for my morning walks for the past 9 months and have it on Subscribe and Save so I never run out. I’m going to try the new orange version (Superbeam), just to see how it compares. But I really REALLY hope Hero never discontinues this product, because after a decade, I finally found a sunscreen that works for me!

I’ve been searching for a light-weight mineral sunscreen and thought I’d give this a try.

Before I get into my thoughts, I just want to preface that these are just my own experiences and how I feel as using it as a person with combination rosacea-prone skin. Others may have success with this product and I think that’s great!

    (Here are my thoughts!)

1.) Re-application Makes You Look Cakey

As far as sun protection goes, it seems to serve its purpose… The first application is definitely light-weight, however… when you reapply throughout the day, it cakes on and makes you look extremely pale — which is saying a lot as someone who’s pale as a snowflake.

If you have dark skin, this situation may not be ideal for you at all.

    2. The Smell

I can’t stand the smell… indoors it’s not as noticeable but when you step outside and a breeze hits your face, it’s ALL you smell. Ugh.

    3.) Packaging

The packaging kind of sucks! The pump doesn’t work very well and it’s difficult to get the correct amount of product that you need.

    4.) Sensitive Skin Friendly

I will say, one good thing that this sunscreen has is that it did not irritate my sensitive rosacea-prone skin.

    (Conclusion)

I probably won’t purchase again, but it might work well for others. I recommend going to Target (the skincare section) and buying the trial sized version first just to see how it works for you before committing!

Love this as my daily sunscreen. I have very sensitive skin and usually break out from sunscreen but this has never given me an issue. It doesn’t leave a cast but I’m not sure if I would say it helps calm the redness I sometimes have.

  4. Kate Griebel

Feels great on my skin and looks nice!

I find this facial sunscreen is just perfect. Not creasy and does not leave a white coat on your face, as some other ones do. It gives me good protection. In a hot and sunny climate I use it daily.

  6. Molly

I had a trial size of this and really liked it, love that if cancels out redness a bit, and if has zinc oxide but doesn’t leave a white cast. It does sweat off fairly easily, by itself but not as much when I’m wearing setting spray. I think it’s worth the price

Love, love, love. This sunscreen is fantastic! I wish this was around when I was in my teens, 20’s & 30’s because then I would have worn sunscreen & not have developed the signs of aging & hyperpigmentation that currently are the bane of my existence!

This sunscreen is ideal for those who have oily skin, have acne, oily skin, do not like the heaviness sunscreen or get breakout because of sunscreen or have problems with the white cast left by mineral sunscreen.

I have all the above problems of oily skin, breakout with a lot of sunscreens, have dealt with the white cast of other sunscreens because I have medium to tan olive skin.

I have to say, I was worried when I first squeezed the product out of the tube because it comes out in a pale green shade. I thought “Uh-Oh.”

Hero Force Shield goes on without a color or coverage, but the back of the tube says that the green tint to their sunscreen helps to balance out any redness in your complexion.

But when I applied this to my face and gently rubbed in (does not require vigorous rubbing into your face) the green tint of this sunscreen disappeared, left a nice, lightweight & breathable finish. It worked nicely with my lightweight makeup application.

I have LOTS of different kinds of sunscreen. I am embarrassed to say that I probably have close to 20 different sunscreens just for my face as I am always on the quest to find the perfect sunscreen (I realize perfect is subjective). This is one of most inexpensive facial sunscreens that I have purchased. Of my collection of facial sunscreen, only Australian Gold is cheaper than this. My collection of facial sunscreens range in price from $7 to $75.

Hero Force Shield would be perfect IMHO if only it was spf 50. But that is just my personal preference. Most dermatologist say an Spf 30 is sufficient.

I will continue to use & repurchase this

By the way, it has a lovely matte finish but is not drying….it feels moisturizing without being heavy or greasy.

I do not think this is waterproof or sweatproof so probably not ideal for a day at the beach.

Anyway, if are looking for a lightweight, breathable sunscreen that works well with or without makeup & does not cause acne breakouts, I recommend that you try this!

  9. Vanessa Olive

I usually hate sunscreen and won’t wear it. It smells disgusting, is sticky, makes my skin feel oiled, causes breakouts, and won’t work with any other products. This one is A GAME CHANGER. It smells light and pleasant, absorbs nicely, doesn’t cause any skin issues, and can be mixed with bb cream or serum. It’s perfect. I use it everyday now without hesitation.

Sehr geeignet für Leute, welche Rosacea haben.
