I bought this as a gift for my sister. She has very short hair top of the neck length hair. She was having a hard time getting any kind of volume with it because nothing could grab onto her hair. But the silicone bristles help grab the hair and she was able to get a really cute hairstyle. Think Drew Barrymore in the wedding singer. So cute!

Admittedly, I’m one of those people who will spend hours, sometimes days, reading all the reviews of a certain type of product before I buy. I’m a value buyer, not a price buyer, so I’ll pay accordingly to the efficacy of the item. I compared the Hot Tools 1″ Hot Brush Styler to the FHI Thermal Brush, The Perfecter and InStyler.

Now, I have a long love affair with the Hot Tool curling irons. I like the high high heat and the quality of materials/hardware of their irons. In the past 15 years, I’ve probably owned 4 Hot Tool irons, all with about 6 -8yr life on all of them.

Things I like: ceramic hot plates, silicone bristles, consistent hot hot heat, barrel thickness, easy to operate on/off toggle, feels solid in hand

Things that need improvement: end cap gets really hot, temperature knob is so small and you can tell which side of the gauge is the “reading” side. I don’t think there is an auto-shut off safety on this item. That could be dangerous.

If you’ve done your homework on thermal/hot brushes you’ll know that Hot Tools has taken all the good attributes of all other comps in the market and put it in this product.

My hair is smooth, full of body. The brush will create soft waves NOT tight curls. I have thick, course Asian hair that does not hold volume easy due to its heavy texture, and so far it’s still looking good late in the day.

Now I need to practice using this more so I can cut my brushing routine down under 10 mins… Being that this is a new gadget for me there is definitely a learning curve. But there is NO WAY to make a bad mistake that it looks unintentionally bad. Just brush over it again, and voila it’s melts into your hairs’ overall canvas

So I’m not good with a curling iron, but I want curls that last. I have a nickel-sized burn on my forehead from trying to use my Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium curling iron the other day. Amazingly, my hair looked great, but my technique was really unsustainable. So I decided to give the Hot Tools Pro Silicone Hot Brush Styler a try. I’m so glad I did – the hot brush styler is a hair-curling dream come true!!
First off, the styler works really well and is simple to use. Just take a one- or two-inch hank of dry hair and roll it up in the styler’s silicon bristles. The bristles DO NOT get hot, but they grab onto your hair and as you roll the styler, the bristles press your hair against the styler barrel, which does get nice and hot. So it’s practically impossible to burn your hand or your forehead! There’s also a plastic tip on the end of barrel, which makes it easy to twirl when you’re loading your hair onto the silicon bristles.
The styler has a good temperature range and as I said before, it does get hot. I keep it around 300 or 320 degrees, and it works great on my fine, shoulder-length hair. Those silicon bristles really hold onto my hair, so I do need to be careful to unwind the curler from my hair, rather than just pull it out of the curl.
All in all, I couldn’t be more pleased. If you’re looking for a new curling iron and want something super simple to use, check this one out. I’m still going to hang onto my Babyliss Pro, but the Hot Tools Brush Styler is definitely going to be my everyday styling tool.

It is good quality if you’re looking for a styling brush but it does not dry brush hair

I’ve been buying Hot Tools bristle curling irons for years. They were great! Heated up fast and curled well. This is the only Hot Tools bristle one I could find, so I ordered it…. The soft bristles are nice, but much harder to use because it grabs the hair and doesn’t move easily, and it is bigger in diameter than the metal one, so instead of a tighter curl, it makes a smooth loose curl. Not what I needed…. 🙁

This is the second one I have purchased and LOVE it. One thing you need to note: It is difficult to use the first couple of times as it does not flow through your hair. I believe it is a coating that has to heat off. I have noticed in reviews that this stops people and they return it. DON’T. This is gentle on your hair and is a really good long lasting product.

All of my regular curling irons are Hot Tools. Leave it to them to come up with a brush type that actually works! My hair is to my waist and sometimes I just want a little volume and curl at the ends and it works perfectly and does bot tangle my hair. The bristles are soft. Has adjustable heat. LOVE this product!

Just got this Brush styler and though I love brush styling tools, I cannot say I love this one. It seems a lot of manufacturers are going to the Silicon bristles, for me though, this won’t work. Tried it on my hair and found the silicone bristles sort of stick to my clean hair (no additional products used after washing). These bristles for me grip and pull on my hair. Now that doesn’t mean it won’t work great for you, but this product won’t work for me. I have a short bob style. I didn’t know this was a product by Helen of Troy—always loved their products and they lasted well. This tool has a big plus –it has a 7 year limited warranty.
Because of the bristles, I am returning the product.

This is my second brush from this company. It works and works well. It has excellent temp control and easy to hold. Only thing I wish is that there was an easier way to clean it.

I got a nice curl with my medium length hair.
