Been shaving my head with a Braun series 9 pro for the best part of a year, started out with the standard shaving oils , creams etc… and each time I think I’ve found the hidden gem… until on a whimsical impulsive buy I came across the beard lube product… price was steap but the reviews swayed me….

I can not believe how effective, smooth and near perfect this product is…. The Braun series 9 takes to this like a piping hot knife going through butter…. It is as close to a razor shave you can take that machine and it is such a smooth finish, absolutely zero irritation, honestly my toxic trait think it was a fluke the first time….

But trust me this product for those who want to shave their head also…. This is the one… the golden goose with all the eggs…. Don’t bother with anything else…. Nothing beats this product….

In summary this is the best all-around cream I’ve used, and it’s unquestionably better than its no-lather competitors Creamo, Billy Jealousy, etc. Obviously it can’t be all things to all people, but this cream paired with a Schick Hydro 3 gives me the best, most consistent shaves I’ve ever had, and I’m also a head shaver so that’s a consideration for some of you.

    More in depth thoughts:

I am an experienced shaver, and have operated on both ends of the continuum. On one end I’ve explored the full DE wet shaving experience with a wide assortment of razors, blades, creams, and brushes. On the other end I’ve gone barebones BIC Metal disposable and a can of Barbasol.

Shaving is not a ritualistic behavior for me like it is for some men; it’s something that simple needs to be done, and I’d like it to be done as well as possible, but it’s not a process I want to turn into a 20-minute meditation. Unfortunately, this is essentially the path you end up going down when you enter the DE world. More time, more prep, more exacting technique almost always translate into better shaves, and conversely, any attempts at hastening the process usually result in a sub-par (and sometimes painful) shaving experience. If you are one of those men who truly revels in the shaving process, you probably can achieve better results with a great DE razor, Feather Blades, a badger tipped brush, and some Truefitt & Hill shave cream, along with a good half hour. If you’re like me, however, and you desire a more concise shaving experience, Beard Lube may be for you.

Part of the problem with evaluating a shave cream is that it’s only one of the variables in the equation, the others being your razor, your technique, your skin, etc. After a lot of juggling, I’ve found that this cream pairs exceptionally well with the Schick Hydro 3; it doesn’t clock the blades, and it makes the razor glide completely effortlessly while providing an exceptionally close shave.

I find Beard Lube’s performance to be superior to other no lather creams like Creamo, which I find frankly to be a poor cream, and Billy Jealousy’s Hydroplane, which is pretty good in its own right but Beard Lube outdoes it. As a head shaver this cream has proven excellent, which is important since creams that are often excellent on the face can prove trying on the head, or vice versa.

The smell is very pleasant, the price is right, and you can buy a 3oz version if you’re a frequent flyer like me.

The product page says this can’t be used with electric shavers. I found this product on a review for electric wet/dry shavers. I tried it with my Skull Shaver Pitbull and it works great. The lube doesn’t gunk up the shaver. It washes off your hands easily so you can get a grip on your shaver. I love that it is clear so I can see around my goatee. It does dry up a little faster than I would like. I will have to wet one side of my face at a time and then apply to my head after I am done shaving my face. It definitely gave a smoother shave than dry shaving with the Pitbull.

Really smooth and hydrating especially for my neck that gets razor bumps easily.

I used to use shaving cream. When I went to purchase some, the store was out of the product I used. This was available so I gave it a try. I was initially put off by the lack of lather I was accustomed to. Then I realized how smooth of a shave I was able to get and good my skin felt. Also how well I was able to shave not having to look through all that lather. This happened years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. Love this stuff

Was originally given a bottle as a gift. I used to get razor burn with standard shaving cream. I use the Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide razor.

    Pros:

A little goes a long way. No mess and do not need to use a lot of product to cover face.
Cool, clean feeling on skin. No razor bumps after use.
    Pleasant, but not overbearing fragrance.

    Cons:

    Price. Not cheap.

    Bottom Line:

I have been using this product for years. If you do not mind paying extra for quality, Jack Black is the way to go. Just need a little bit of lube to cover your face and after you are done shaving you are left with a cool, clean feeling on your skin. Recommended.

Most of the time I’m in a hurry, and don’t have time to condition my beard before I shave, this beard lube softens the hair on your face and makes shaving a lot easier, I would recommend this product based on my own personal satisfaction.

A little goes a long way . You can use it alone or in conjunction with shave cream. This is pricey but it will last along time . I will reorder again.
