I can’t go to bed without this on my face. It’s like my skin drinks it up while I sleep. For an oil, it isn’t so greasy and it doesn’t leave a mess on my sheets or my clothing. It’s extremely effective at hydrating my skin. Minimal (if any) scent and a little goes a long way, this bottle lasts for ever! I only use one squirt per night and it covers my face and neck. Highly recommend adding this to your line up! I’ve been using it for about 3 years and continue to get compliments on my skin. I give Josh Rosebrook credit for those compliments!

Not quite a year ago, I wrote a review for the “only serum that consistently works for me”, Averr Aglow Forever Radiant Essential Renewing Serum, and Josh Rosebrook Active Infusion Oil is surprising very similar. However, if you can afford Josh Rosebrook, better results can arguably be had from Averr Aglow for only $5 more per ounce. Apparently, these two products are very similar because of the oils contained in each, but while Averr Aglow consists almost entirely of a couple dozen oils, Josh Rosebrook consists of only about a half dozen oils plus other ingredients such as phenethyl alcohol. With respect to oils only, there is some overlap between these two products. Jojoba seed oil is ingredient #1 in Josh Rosebrook, but #7 (seed oil) and #18 (seed extract) in Averr Aglow. Sunflower seed oil is ingredient #2 in Josh Rosebrook, but absent from Averr Aglow. Rosehip seed oil is ingredient #3 in Josh Rosebrook, but absent from Averr Aglow. Hemp seed oil is #5 in Josh Rosebrook, but absent from Averr Aglow. Sea buckthorn fruit oil is #9 in Josh Rosebrook, but absent from Averr Aglow. Goji berries is #12 in Josh Rosebrook, but #1 in Averr Aglow. Marula seed oil is #14 in Josh Rosebrook, but absent from Averr Aglow. Turmeric is #17 in Josh Rosebrook, but #28 in Averr Aglow. The biggest differences are the absence of several oils from Averr Aglow, and the much higher volume of goji berries in Averr Aglow. And apparently, the relatively higher position of turmeric in the ingredient list of Josh Rosebrook is what influences its color. It took me a few times using Josh Rosebrook to get used to the need to rub it into my skin until the yellow color diminished, going away after applying a skin cream afterward. I mentioned in my review of a serum from Skin Regimen that it wasn’t until I tried out a kit from OxygenCeuticals containing a toner, serum, and cream that I realized serum needs to be applied as part of a three step process in-between applications of toner and cream. After having used post-shave creams for many years, and only just recently introducing toner as a first step, I actually didn’t initially know how to use a serum. Some might be interested in knowing that I need to apply 2 pumps of Josh Rosebrook for full coverage of face and neck, whereas I need only 8 to 9 drops of Averr Aglow to cover the same area. As with Averr Aglow, Josh Rosebrook is expensive, but so is spending wasted time and effort experimenting with serums which don’t work, so I’m giving this one five stars.

I can’t say enough about this product. I’ve been using it for awhile now and my skin is brighter, softer and it glows! I’ve seen dramatic results. I actually get compliments on my glowing skin all the time! I use this product at night (one pump) and seal it with Vital Balm. I have oily skin, and it does not make it more oily at all! I also love that there is no added fragrance. I would definitely recommend this product!

Josh Rosebrook Active Infusion Oil Retinoid & Vitamin C Facial Oil doesn’t contain “fragrance” or fragrant essentials oils. It does have a light rose scent that I think dissipates quickly. I assume it’s the Phenethyl Alcohol (can’t say for sure)- a fragrant alcohol used as a preservative. I have dry and sensitive skin and haven’t had any sensitivities or allergies. So far, the retinoid in this oil is well tolerated and my skin feels hydrated rather than dry, while I’ve had issues with most retinol products I’ve tried. I tolerate Vitamin C well from long term use, but some don’t and this has one of the more gentle forms as tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate.

One pump of this oil is generous and makes my skin look and feel oily for 1-2 hours, depending on what else I apply with it. I’m not bothered by the oily residue as I like the hydration boost and also use this oil primarily at night as I’m adverse to the risks associated with retinol/retinoid use and sun exposure. I haven’t had breakouts and don’t notice an issue with clogged pores. The serum is yellow, but I haven’t noticed any staining from the turmeric.

My dry and sensitive skin feels comfortable using this oil, though I do team it with my usual skincare. I typically pat it into my skin after my cream, and I’m also using it on my neck as that’s become a big problem area with age. I’ve tried using it before my cream, but my skin feels and looks about the same either way. In the morning, my skin is soft and hydrated, it has no redness and it’s bright and radiant. I can’t attribute these benefits only to this oil as I pair it with other good products, but I feel it contributes to better looking skin.

It can take at least 4-6 weeks of regular use for me to gauge longer term benefits, such as increased cellular turnover, restored elasticity and so on. I feel this helps with tone and texture and it also seems well formulated for more benefits. For example, benefits tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate may be enhanced when combined with Vitamin E, retinol and green tea, and this oil pairs them together. And this has plant oils rich in antioxidants, such as jojoba oil, etc. I especially recommend this for those who need a more gentle retinoid product. 5 stars. Made in USA.
