After receding the Kenra Calrofying shampoo I did a little more reading into it. While it has many good ratings, it does not appear to be for every day use. It is best for cleaning hair of products. Since I don’t use products for my hair, I don’t notice much difference in the feel of my hair. While it says it’s color-safe, some of the ingredients indicate it could wear down color hair fast then regular shampoos. The shampoo is clear and has a light fruity citrus scent. I don’t plan to use it often but it’s been good for the kids who are affected by chlorine from their regular swimming. Whenever it’s time to color my hair I will use this to have a clean start to new hair styling.

We have hard water and I see how it builds up on our faucets, in the water pitcher and other things, but then I forget that it also builds up on my hair. My hair is down to my waist, very fine and very straight (and getting grayer!). I don’t think I’ve ever tried a clarifying shampoo so I was interested in trying out this one by Kenra. (I’d heard of the brand before but had not tried it.) What a difference it makes! It isn’t as thick as my regular shampoo so I accidentally used a little too much the first time. It was easy to work into my hair and around my scalp. I could already feel a difference while it was still in my hair, it felt really soft. Lathers up nicely but not overly sudsy and easy to rinse out. Hair and scalp felt really clean. I couldn’t quite place the scent, it is pleasant and not strong, but not an “ooh, I love this smell” either; it’s a little citrus, a little herbal maybe, and a faint whiff of mint. Afterwards, with hair slightly damp, I trimmed off about 4 inches of the length and I could swear there was a little bounce to my hair, which has never happened since my hair is long and straight. There’s also a little shine. My hair looks and feels so much better after using this clarifying shampoo. If you have hard water, I would recommend using this Kenra shampoo.

I’ve been using this shampoo once a week for a few weeks now and am very happy with the results. I use semi-permanent hair color, which isn’t too damaging, but can still dry out the hair a bit. I also use some styling products several times a week when I air-style my hair. I don’t think I typically have a ton of product buildup, but I did immediately notice that my hair was a little lighter/bouncier after using this Kenra Clarify shampoo. It does leave the hair literally squeaky clean, so I definitely recommend following up with some kind of conditioner, be it from Kenra or other brand. I have been following up the Kenra shampoo with the conditioner that comes with my hair color just to help keep the color in tact longer. I typically wash my hair every day so I’m using this Kenra about once per week or week and a half.
The shampoo itself lathers well and smells nice. It does not leave a noticeable scent on my hair after shampooing.
It’s a little on the pricey side, but I got the larger bottle and the price per ounce is definitely in the reasonable range for salon-style products. Since it is not an every day product, I do expect to get a lot of use from this bottle.

I was looking for a shampoo that would help control my very oily hair and this one is not it. To me, a very good normal shampoo and good quantity for the price, but not for oily hair.

I have not used a clarifying shampoo before and do not normally use hair color or styling products. The bottle recommends using it once a week. I plan to use once a month. At that rate this 33.8oz bottle will last a lifetime making the $46 price not seem so bad.
The shampoo is clear and lathered well with only a small amount. It has a light, fresh scent that was not overpowering. I normally wash my hair every other day. On day one after washing and blow drying, I didn’t notice anything significantly different after using the Kenra shampoo vs my regular shampoo. The next day, however, my hair was very flat. I have thin hair and didn’t like the flatness but that could be a plus for some if you have unruly hair. Maybe that is normal with clarifying shampoo, I’m not sure.
I like that on the bottle is says the product was not tested on animals, is vegan friendly, and the bottle is made from 95% recycled plastics.

Kenra has done it again! I have been a Kenra enthusiast for a while now, especially for my dry, curly hair. Having curly hair pretty much means you have to add product after product to keep the curls look good throughout the week and I always need a nice clarifying shampoo to get it off my hair. This has been working wonders, without drying my scalp out. The size is amazing too, I am sure this will last me for a long time. This purchase is a no brainer.

This *seems* gentle enough for every day use. I’ve been using it weekly as suggested and it feels gentle on my hair. It doesn’t seem to affect my fine hair the way my old favorite (discontinued) clarifying shampoo does when I get home from a place with hard water. Maybe it’s because that was too harsh? It’s pretty subjective, so this is the best I can do.
The scent of the shampoo is very nice and subtle. I love the way it lathers up and makes it easy to feel like I’m doing a thorough job cleaning my scalp. My hair is soft and shiny. The pump is great because 33oz is a very large bottle – about 3x the size I normally buy.
