I’ve tried everything to keep my hair from frizzing up while being a straight natural. I refuse to get a relaxer again. But nothing worked but Keratin treatments. So to avoid paying 200 bucks to get it done professionally I bought the original Keratin treatment with formaldehyde and it made my hair bone straight and it lasted even when sweating. But the smell was just unbearable. So I then ordered the formaldehyde free formula and I am shocked that it worked just as well. No fumes at all. I did not use the exact directions though. I washed my hair with Loreal everpure Bonding shampoo 4 times because I don’t like the way clarify shampoos make my hair feel. Then I towel dried my hair and basically slathered the product onto my detangled hair in 4 sections. I probably used a 3rd of the bottle. But I have long hair. I left it in for 1 hour on my 4A hair. Then rinsed with warm water. My hair felt very silky. Then I went straight to blow drying. I don’t feel it needs conditioning after the treatment. It was such an easy hair experience. Then lastly I Flat ironed my hair 3 times in each 2inch section. I just made sure my hair was super flat. I’m writing this right after so I don’t know how long it will last but it really doesn’t matter because I’ll use it as often as possible because the process was so easy and it makes my hair feel so great. Also my hair has never been this shiny. I’m blown away. I’ll continue to buy this. I don’t ever write reviews but this was so amazing I had to. If your hair is unruly, tangled and gets frizzy from humidity easily then get the formaldehyde free formula NOW. LOL

I wanted a subtle change and this product worked well for that. I liked how my hair looked and felt when I was done. My hair is straight and smooth to the top and front (the crown), and wavy to the sides and back, and at the very back of my neck gets very wavy. So what I did was apply the product for 20 minutes then washed it off and used the conditioner for 10 minutes then rinsed that off, then blow dried and flat ironed. Super smooth results. When I washed my hair for the first time as it air dried I could see a definite loosening of the wave patterns to the back. So it’s gentle and if you like to wash and air dry like me you will enjoy the subtle difference it makes. You can also flat iron if you prefer that look. I just wanted to be able to wash and air dry (and not flat iron) and not have to deal with any frizz. As far as this goal went (no frizz) it was a difference, but I would have liked a more dramatic change there. So what I did after a bit less than a month is use the clarifying shampoo again and this time leave the product on for the full hour (more time for the parts to the back) This way it was more effective. The parts of my hair to the front, I stayed with the 20 minutes time frame… so basically I put it on the back, then waited about 40 minutes then put the product on the rest of my hair to the top / crown that is not wavy / straighter and that worked well for me. I am the type that washes my hair often, so for me, I would probably use this maybe every 4 to 5 weeks. I have seen no signs of damage whatsoever to my hair which is great. Basically, I am very pleased with this product overall. I think this Formaldehyde free version is a good option for me because I am definitely not keen on that formaldehyde smell and / or having to leave a product that has chemicals in my hair for days and days. In the past I did try a traditional keratin (with formaldehyde) many years ago… but I didn’t like the process – the smell – or the results AT ALL. I didn’t like the chemical smell …or the “stick straight” look. I prefer a more natural / softer bounce to my hair and this product definitely achieves that. I can use it and flat iron for that sleek look… or ….. I can wash and let it air dry as I wish – which is what I usually do. When I let it air dry I get a really nice effect … more natural looking than that “stick straight” flat ironed look. This is my preference and this works for me. For those of your that like the “stick straight” effect – consider the chemical version….although I haven’t tried this brands formaldehyde version… so I can’t say how effective it is. I definitely do recommend this brands formaldehyde free version. It works for me and it gave me exactly the effect I was hoping for. Fuss free lower maintenance hair that I can just wash and air dry and go..! I haven’t tried their shampoo and conditioner as yet because I already have a bunch of other sulphate free shampoos…. When mine are finished I definitely will try theirs. I did try the smooth polish / oil but not on the first application. On that first time I didn’t use the smoothing oil… I used it on the second application a few weeks later. I like it. It definitely adds shine and I would also buy this again. Overall I am VERY happy with this purchase. Maybe I will also upload some pics next time I use it. I do think the directions from the manufacturer could be a lot clearer. I found there was one set of instructions on the bottle and another on the website. That needs to be addressed. If you found my review helpful, click to indicate that. I wish other people would give reviews – honest reviews – that way it would make shopping easier for all.

This worked just as good as the keratin treatment I get at a hair salon. I decided to do it myself because I couldn’t pay $230 at the salon. This was a fraction of the price.

    The process:

Took me about 3 hours from washing my hair to being completely done. That’s usually how long it takes at the salon. This is how I did it. Washed my hair with my regular shampoo and last wash with clarifying shampoo from this brand. Towel dried and brushed it to detangle, with no product. Separated my hair into 4 sections and started from back to front on each side. Got one side saturated with product using a brush (like the ones for hair dye) not touching my scalp (it will be itchy if you touch your skin) once the section was done I put a timer for 15 mins (I have thick long wavy very frizzy hair) did not clip my hair up because it would make product touch my skin. Then went on to the next section. Once I was done with the second section I looked at how long the timer had left. Then waited and once the timer was up I went to rinse the first section and put a timer for whatever time the second section had left (that way I didn’t go over the 15 mins) then went to rinse the second section and repeated the process with the other side of my head. Once I was all done I did one last rinse with all of my hair (I rinsed in my kitchen sink but you can do it wherever it’s easier, I didn’t want to do it in the shower so the product wouldn’t spread all over my body). Then I used the hair treatment from this same brand and let it sit for 10 mins. Rinsed it and blew dry my hair. Once my hair was all dry I used my flat iron on the temperature before the highest and took 1 inch sections and did 4 passes on each hair sections.

    The results:

INCREDIBLE! It was hard work but it was so worth it. My hair was so silky smooth and shiny. Super straight. It did smell like the chemicals and didn’t go away until I washed my hair again. When I washed it I let my hair air dry and it was a huge difference from before getting the treatment. My hair is not as wavy anymore but not straight either. It feels very soft and the best part is that like 95% of the frizz is gone! My hair feels so healthy now and I have enough product to do another treatment so for me who has thick, long and a lot of hair I can do 2 keratin treatments with one bottle.
