Yes, they’re small. They’re samples. But I was able to get several shampoos out of each little bar, and I’m in love with the castor oil shampoo and coconut oil conditioner. I did find that trying to lather them in my hands and then apply it to my hair didn’t work well, so painting my head, as they put it, worked best. I still didn’t get a lot of lather, but my hair is definitely clean. They also rinse out well and I don’t feel like I have product in my hair. They are expensive comparatively, and I’m not going to get as many shampoos out of one bar as I will a bottle of Pantene that’s half the price, but my hair looks and feels healthier than it has in years. And because I only condition the ends of my hair, I still had about a third of the conditioning bar when the shampoo bar was gone. I fly frequently, and liquids as we all know are a nuisance. I have toothpaste pellets, and now I have shampoo bars that actually do what they say they will.

I have tried the samples at home with hard well water, and on travel with city water. The bars do not work well with hard water, since they do not lather or rinse out well. They are good for travel, since they avoid the liquid restrictions. I do find that getting a little leather on my hands and a bar, and then using the bar to “paint” my hair, and then ducking back under the water briefly helps me lather my hair.
When I received the sample kit, I had two rice conditioners, one castor oil shampoo, and one cocoa butter conditioner. I had really wanted to try the rice shampoo. When I noted this in my original review (which I could not locate to modify), the company refunded my money, so I am happy with their response.

So far I have only used the rice protein shampoo and the coconut conditioner. Makes my hair soft which I was pleasantly surprised at. They are not a standard size even though it says 1×1. It is also frustrating you must repeat 2x the shampoo and 2x the conditioner. 1 because it lasts less. I do have long hair but I would say each cube would only last me 5 washes. 2 because it is time consuming. For the conditioner, it says instead of 2 washes, you can use leave in conditioner. But I bought these to internationally travel so I would bring less liquids with me and bringing a leave in conditioner would defeat the purpose of my purchasing reason.

So I have to say I’ve been very skeptical about trying solid shampoos, I mean it’s just a bar of soap that is being marketed for hair, right?!?
WRONG!!!!!!
This was absolutely different and so surprisingly wonderful!
So I’ve started to notice with hormonal changes, changes in my hair, and I have been trying all sorts of traditional shampoos, and ultimately all of them seem to either work for a while or not work at all, leaving thick scalp build up which is combining with my hard water and hormonal hair to cause lots of fallout and frustration.
After reading a few reviews and looking at some photos I decided to take the plunge because of this sampler set and give solid shampoo, specifically Kitsch, a try. I mean I figured at this point but do I have to lose?!
From the small sample bars in the beautifully packaged sampler set, I chose to try the rice water shampoo bar and conditioner bar first. Don’t be fooled by the tiny size of these little sample cubes, I lathered up twice and even used the conditioner bar as a body wash, and both sample cubes still look untouched! A little goes a long way.
As you can see in this photo I need to touch up my color, and it’s a bit wild because I did not use any products whatsoever after shampooing and conditioning, as I wanted to be able to assess how the shampoo bar and conditioner bar worked with out any other products interfering.
So personally I feel that my hair came out thick and shiny, and it wasn’t too dry or too oily.
Given the results I’m seeing, the price point, and effectiveness of the product, I definitely will continue to use this, try the other two samples in this sampler set, and also I think I would be interested in purchasing this brand’s shower filter and any hair products for after shampooing and conditioning.
If my hair looks this healthy and shiny by using the rice water shampoo bar and conditioner bar, with my horrible hard water shower and no after products, imagine how gorgeous it will be when adding in a few more factors!

Takes longer to wash and condition, perhaps that’s something to get used to. My issue is that my hair didn’t stay clean as long. It felt great, but I could tell that with a longer period of consistent use, my hair would likely look greasy. I have coarse crazy hair, but I’ll stick to my sulfate free liquid shampoos and conditioners. These would be great for travel though.

I like the way it makes my hair feel, but it is really hard to get the soap to suds. I accidentally used the soap as the conditioner the last time I shampooed and I thought it would make a mess of my hair but it didn’t. So far I have used only one of the sample sets and I really like it just wish it would suds more.

I just rubbed the bar over my wet hair in the shower and it lathered. Set the bar aside in a dry area and rubbed later in with my hands as usual with any shampoo. Rinsed. Same with conditioner. Both bars still look the same size as when I started – had read reviews before reading so made sure to move bars to a dry area in shower when I set them aside so no issue with the bar being used up excessively.
My hair came out nice and clean and soft.

Love that they do sample size. I was introduced to shampoo bar soaps about six months ago. I also use another brand which I am very happy with but couldn’t pass up the sample size of these. I love the quality of ingredients in these soaps and that it doesn’t take much to do the job. I am trying the castor oil bar first. It leaves my hair soft with no build up. I also used the bar on my body and it didn’t dry out my skin. Very pleased.
