Smell: At first it smelled like vanilla play-doh (not necessarily a bad thing just odd), but the more I used it the more I like it.

My hair type: I have thick, wavy, short (1” on top) black hair. I part my hair and do a pomp in front.
Hold: The hold is strong, but its not the strongest I’ve used (American Crew Heavy Hold is stronger/more glue like).
Final appearance of hair: This is a high quality product and it shows through its appearance. It straightened out my thick and wavy short hair, but there were still stray hairs and it didn’t feel like a “glue” type product if that’s what you’re looking for. Shine is medium.
Overall: Very happy with this high quality product, I mix this product with my American Crew Heavy Hold and it works great. I would buy again.

I’m really picky about my water based pomades. The only one I’ve been moderately satisfied with was Fiber Grease, but since I could no longer find it on Amazon I decided to try Layrite Superhold and it’s by far the best water based pomade. I have an undercut that I slick back, but I also have a swirl right where the hairline ends in the back and I always end up with a split with the hair separating and leaving an open space. So I only use high hold pomades, although not picky about the level of shine. Layrite has held up really well, and it’s surprisingly easy to restyle when you need a refresh. Today I didn’t use as much as I normally do and it gave a much softer feel that I don’t usually get with pomade due to only using high hold pomades, and usually needing to use a large amount to tame my swirl. This lesser amount gave me the feel of a light or medium hold that I could easily run my fingers through to restyle, but it didn’t split much at all in the back. Maybe it’s because my undercut is buzzed without guards, so the friction may have held it. Either way, I have only used this for three days and decided to order another one today. Oh yeah, it smells pretty good too. Not so much while in the container where it’s more concentrated, but once it’s applied it’s nice.

By far the best pomade I’ve used and have tried many. Holds all day and doesn’t get hard, grear texture. Easily washes out with water. Perfect mid shine.

a little goes a long way with this, and it lasts forever. I prefer the scent of the normal pomade but my hair needs a stronger hold and this smells fine.

I’ve tried many different brands of pomades but the Layrite Superhold is the best one yet! It smells great, has a super strong hold but it washes off really easily in the shower. A little does go a long way when you apply it to dry hair. I don’t think I can ever go back to any other brand.

Big fan of the Layrite Superhold. I’ve been looking for a good pomade for a while and finally found gold. A little goes a long way with this pomade. I have crazy thick hair and normally have to use a lot of product to get my desired style but with Layrite I use 1/4 of what I was using and it holds perfect all day. I noticed a lot less straggler hairs in front, my hair style is held solid and it doesn’t feel all greasy which is a huge plus. It also smells good unlike some of the other petroleum scents the competing brands leave you with.

I recently discovered the Layrite hair pomade and I must say it is one of the best hair styling products I have ever used! My barber initially introduced me to this product and I have been using it ever since.

I’ve been using this product line for few years now and I absolutely love it. It is very easy to style my hair with and washing it off is very easy as well. I do wish it made it in travel sizes tho!
