I went in for a beach wave perm about two weeks ago. I left looking like a cross between Annie and a poodle. I have been desperate to remedy this and did a ton of research. I came across this product and decided to take a chance.

First, this clearly is for professional use. It says that all over the package/product. So by purchasing this, you are choosing to do this at your own risk. I personally think some of the negative reviews on here are from people who have no clue what they are doing. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos while waiting patiently for my package to arrive. There are several out there from salons and those are the ones I recommend, not the ones from YouTubers.

I followed the directions to a T. In fact after rinsing out the straightening cream and drying the first time, the salon videos said not to dry your hair all the way (only about 60-70%) and then flat iron it dry. I did that so don’t know if it made a difference or not. I put the neutralizer on for 5 minutes as the package said to, rinsed it off, shampooed, and then put a quick mask on my hair. Rinsed, put thermal product in, blow dried and flat ironed again and my hair is silky smooth.

I honestly did not know if I was ever going to see my normal hair again after that disaster perm but this gave me my confidence back. I am so glad I found this stuff!

More than half of my hair was BURNED off, do NOT buy this to straighten your hair. Go for something more mild or even just embrace your natural hair instead whatever mess this brought me and my mom too.

This product worked great!! My pics shows before and after my hair was done at the salon.. If you follow the directions step by step exactly as your supposed to the process will work out fine.. I am a Black American woman and I give you my word that it certainly works!! I have also posted other products that I used that I believe helped with the straightening process.. The efficace oil protects the Scalp from burning and the cream in the lavender package protects the Hair from over processing, in my opinion you need both.. I used it right away and don’t plan on keeping any old solution.. I let the liscio normal solution, with just a tiny bit of strong solution mixed together, sit on my hair no longer than 15 minutes.. You must move quicky.. My hair type is 4a.. I have a good grade of hair, not too kinky.. If you have fine hair or a really good grade of hair I would go with the mild solution.. If you have really kinky hair I would go with the strong solution.. Well I hope this helps and that liscio works out as well for you as it did for me.. By the way this is my second Japanese straightener.. The first Japanese straightener that I used was Bio Ionic Retex however I like Liscio much better!!

Here is the step by step systematic method that I used..

(1.) I shampooed & conditioned my hair with Carol’s Daughter Mirabelle Plum Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner.. You do Not have to use Milbon or Liscio shampoo and conditioner although they may be more compatible to use with hair that has been straightened via the Japanes thermal straightening process however I did not use their shampoo and conditioner and my hair came out just fine..

(2.) I then dried my hair about 80% dry.

(3.) I then applied the efficace oil to my scalp to protect from any over processing to my scalp..

    (4.) I generously applied the
MILBON LISCIO KNOTEUR ZERO 2-in-1 Treatment and Protection Cream to the strands of my hair.. It’s important not to skip this step prevents over processing of the hair..

(5.) I placed the liscio normal straightener with a tiny bit of liscio strong straightener into a small bowl and mixed the two together then applied it to my hair with speed.. It’s important to move fast durning this step.. I applied it all over my hair.. If this is a touch up then only apply to the roots..

(6.) I thoroughly rinsed hair for about 7-10 minutes this step is important also as insufficient rinsing can lead to breakage.. Do not shampoo again.. Towel dry or lightly blow dry without touching your scalp..

(7.) Section off your hair into 4 or more sections..

(8.) Plug up the flat irons. Turn temperature to about 350 while you apply the MILBON STRAIGHT LISCIO HEAT PROTECTION SPRAY It blocks excessive heat.

(9.) Next flat iron hair in small sections, giving most of the attention to the roots, the higher you turn up the temperature the better it straightens however to be on the safe side I kept my flat irons on 350 never surpassesing 375 I went over sub sectioned part about 2 or 3x’s sectioover if your hair is previously processed hair I wouldn’t go over it more than 1-2x’s. Make sure your hair looks silky straight from root to ends.

(10.) I applied the neutralizer from roots to ends to lock in the silky straight look. Gently work it through your hair, ensuring even coverage. Note that it’s ok if the neutralizer touches the scalp & roots, as it will NOT cause breakage.

(11.) Leave neutralizer on for about 7-10 minutes.

(12.) Gently rinse out the neutralizer for about 7-10 minutes.. Insufficient rinsing (less than 7 minutes) can lead to breakage.. Do not shampoo, only condition your hair, again I used my own conditioner you do not have to used milbon’s conditioner..

(13.) I used the Liscio heat protectant again then blow dryer my hair softly to about 95% dry with a blow dryer comb being very careful not to scrape my scalp with the comb..

(14.) Flat iron again. If you want waves, you can use a waving or curling iron after the flat iron. Wait 48-72 hours before your let your hair get wet, the longer you wait the better.. the hair needs time to oxidize and lock in the pattern of straight or wavy hair.. I only survived 48 hours before getting my hair wet and it still turned out really well..

(15.) This is not a requirement but I added 2 to 3 pumps of the Milbon Straight Lisciocrystal Hair Treatment not much is needed but it allows manageability, gloss and a smooth finish..

Yay.. Your done.. Now the process is complete..

The Brow Art delivered the Liscio items quickly, which were brand new and packaged nicely to survive shipping. Liscio products are the BEST but you have to know what you are doing before using them. This is for experienced DIY’ers and professionals, and it is best to do a patch test first.

For those DIY’ers that are curious about how I used them, here’s what I did-
    1. I shampooed & conditioned my hair with PPT Do from Milbon (Milbon owns Liscio and designs products that are compatible to use with hair that has been straightened via the Japanes thermal straightening process.
    2. I dried hair about 90% dry.
    3. I generously applied the Liscio root softener to my roots (do NOT skip this step as the straightener should NOT be applied to roots or you risk breakage or the dreaded ‘bends’. But if softener touches scalp it is ok and will NOT cause breakage).
    4. Applied the Hair Protection Cream to previously processed hair (it protects previously processd hair by slowing down action of straightener by 30, 50 or 90%).
    5. Applied straightener to new growth only (again, not too close to roots or scalp, which can cause breakage. Again, generously applying the root softener will prevent breakage) and processed for allotted time (go to the Milbon site and look at their newsletters for advice on how to tell if hair has been processed sufficiently).
    6. I thoroughly rinsed hair for about 10 minutes (insufficient rinsing can lead to breakage). Note that I did NOT shampoo. Then I dried it again.
    7. Next I used a Liscio heat protectant then flat ironed my hair in small sections, giving most of the attention to the roots, passing a 410 degree iron over the roots about 4x times, and the previously processed hair 1-2x. Make sure your hair looks silky straight from root to ends. If you want a little wave, you can use a waving or curling iron after the flat iron.
    8. I applied the neutralizer from roots to ends to lock in the silky straight look. Gently work it through your hair, ensuring even coverage. Note that it’s ok if the neutralizer touches the scalp & roots, as it will NOT cause breakage.
    9. I left in neutralizer for about 10 minutes.
    10. Then I gently rinsed for about 10 minutes (again insufficient rinsing can lead to breakage). I did NOT shampoo, I just conditioned with PPT Do.
    11. I used a Liscio heat protectant then blow dried, flat ironed and curled again. I did not let it get wet for 48 hours, as the hair needs time to oxidize and lock in the pattern of silky straight or silky wavy hair.

FYI, I have used this process several times and have NOT had any breakage. My 3c hair is now silky, wavy, frizz free and growing fast. The only caveat is if you are new to this process, find youtube videos, the Instructables.com instructions AND read the Milbon newsletters before attempting this.

Good product but quite expensive and it is hard to do it at home.

  7. fatcatprincess

It totally works. I tried to use this product on my hair myself at home…. omg I couldn’t believe how it is amazing. every 3months I used to spend $300 for straightening I definitely save money a lot and worth it.
