Not gonna lie, Good Genes was making my 44 year old skin look so good! I just couldn’t justify the $85 , that’s a lot for basically lactic acid. I found this Mad Hippie lactic acid serum and tried it because it had good reviews and a good price. I loved it even more than GG! I feel like it has more benefits. oiliness is lessened, large pores are tightened, blackheads on nose are gone, dry patches on chin are gone. Just make sure you use your sunscreen during the day!

I’m really liking this product so far! I had absolutely terrible clogged pores and acne from wearing a mask and I just couldn’t get rid of it so I decided to give this a try. I really wanted a serum that had a watery consistency and not oily like some, so I was pleased to find this one was just that…This combined with a benzoyl 5% cleanser and my skin cleared up within a few days. Feels smoother, acne has greatly diminished and my pores have gotten smaller. Good buy but it would be nice if this was priced the same as their website which is about $10 less.

I was a little leery of using a “chemical” exfoliant as I have sensitive skin but this one is working well for me and doesn’t cause any irritation. I only use it 2 or 3 times a week.

  4. AMS

I’m 39 and have dull, flaky, dry skin. I used to have oily skin but I guess I’m old now. I’ve tried all foundations thinking that was the problem, when in reality it’s our skin that’s the issue. This product has done more for me than any other product I’ve tried and believe me… I’ve tried them all! It tingled for a second upon first application and then my skin was so soft and it tightened my very large pores! I don’t believe any product is a miracle worker but this is darn close! Xoxo

This stuff leaves the skin looking smooth and refreshed but beware of a slight stinging if you have any acne which is why I’m giving 4 star.. I believe it’s making a difference in my skin but it could be Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum that I use in the AM.. which I LOVE!
Everyday for the past 2 months now I wash my face with Vichy normaderm cleanser (I have oily, acne prone skin and this stuff works wonders for me) then go in with the vitamin C serum moisturizer in the MORNING.
And at night I do the same thing with my Vichy cleanser then with this exfoliant and I don’t think I will be purchasing it again only because I love the organic products that they use in the C & D cleanser which I think I’ll be switching to for my nighttime routine.

Overall mad hippie has changed my skin completely although I’m fighting some acne right now my upper face has never looked so clear, pores shrinking, my skin just looks beautiful and it feels good to put real organic products onto your skin that actually make a difference. Thank you Mad hippie!
Note that I’m 20 years old and even at this age I noticed a magnificent difference and improvement in my skin that I didn’t even know was possible!
Getting a proper routine down and learning what type of skin you have helps discover what works best for you. Remember what works for some might not work for others 🙂

Yes it actually works and it leaves an amazing smooth finish on your face! I also use the facial cleanser and moisturizing cream to finish. I love pure products & try my best to invest my dollars into companies that actually care the impact their products have in the world.

  9. Alexe

Ce serum est vraiment fantastique. Il est doux et efficace pour ma peau sensible. Il exfolie ma peau en douceur sans causer d’irritation. Je l’utilise lors de ma routine du soir, j’adore !

I am 47 and kept buying all this great expensive stuff, but what a waste of money. Seriously, looked at all the ingredients in most expensive creams? and if you look each one of them up online… it’s scary. and SO not worth the money. What’s good for your skin is natural, that’s what all my research showed me, and more importaantly was that Mad Hippie had everything the expensive creams had and less of the filler stuff, alcohol, glycerin which my skin hates, etc so this is great stuff, doesn’t sting, doesn’t block your pores, no redness, made my skin feel great, looks great and have not had any breakouts for months now since I have been using this line… I can’t think of anything else I am doing but using this stuff and my skin just keeps looking great. I am used to having really oily skin, occasional breakouts, like always something on my face to cover up, and I had some clogged pores in t-zone, etc when using other creams… but now? nothing but clear skin…. still kind of don’t believe it.. but it’s true. I use the Vit. C as well and the Exfoliating Serum combo. It doesn’t make you skin peel per say, so if you’re used to that, this serum is more gentle but it’s doing something my skin is glowing.
After I use the Serum I use the mosturinzing cream anti wrinkle peptide … awesome stuff love it and just ordered more. I am not worried that I am putting any ingredients on my skin that are not pure and great for my skin type …. I can’ tell it’s the right cream for me because my skin is no longer oily, and pores are less blocked (12x mirrors don’t lie!) with other crap ingredients I was used to in other creams I used….. I am a loyal fan for life! looking forward to more in the line? or suncream…

I’ve been using this for a month now and I think this will definitely stay in my list of products I like to buy over and over again. The ingredient list is very pure and direct, no fillers. Obviously you have to have things in there to stabilize and make things effect. I’m not a chemist, but I hate when I look at a list of ingredients and it has a few good ingredients and then a bunch of mediocre. This is packed with good stuff! I didn’t know before buying this it had Niacinimide! I’ve been wanting a skincare product with this ingredient since it’s a very powerful antioxidant. Panthenol is another really good ingredient as it helps hydrate and heal the skin.

As for the exfoliating, I love it! I love using gentle glycolic masks like blackstrap molasses on a daily basis and stronger masks on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. The glycolic acid in this is the second ingredient, but it’s still hard to say how strong it is. I am honestly a huge skeptic when it comes to a lot of skincare products claims, but I really noticed a difference in my skin immediately after using this. I know you usually can’t get immediate results with anything difficult, but this made my skin so much smoother over night. I’m 22 with acne prone skin and this helped smooth out tiny texture things. I still get a pimple or two from time to time, but this really helps smooth out the texture of my skin leaving it softer and healthier. You should still probably use a manual exfoliant like an exfoliating loofah or clarisonic, but this is great for a chemical exfoliant.

I bought this for hyper-pigmentation from acne and I think I have seen a good reduction. It might be because my skin is smoother looking, but the skin tone is more even. I think with long term use this can really help with hyper pigmentation, but I will definitely be hunting for a good glycolic acid peel for more drastic results.

It does leave your skin feeling a bit sticky, but it’s recommend you put your moisturizer on after 10 minutes and once you’ve massaged that in, you can’t really notice the stickiness.
I love really massaging this serum in when I’m applying to help penetrate and exfoliate any grime trapped in my pores, focusing on any blemishes or blackhead prone areas like my cheeks.

Overall, I’m very happy about this product and anyone suffering from acne and hyper pigmentation should definitely get this!

I have sensitive skin, so this stings for a few minutes when I first apply it, so I can only use a thin layer. For the past few years, I’ve been using an exfoliator from Paula’s Choice a few nights a week, but I decided to try this and a few other Mad Hippie products since I wanted to move away from too many chemicals. I use this before bed, and it leaves my skin looking nice and glowy in the morning.

The Mad Hippie website also gives instructions for how to layer their products:

“We recommend gently massaging the vitamin C serum into your skin in the morning after washing and drying thoroughly. Wait 5 minutes after applying the serum & apply the creams. Apply the face cream to the entire face, including eye area, then apply the eye cream beside and below the eyes—making sure to rub both creams in well, particularly around wrinkle prone areas. Follow this with our extra hydrating antioxidant facial oil.

At night, follow the same steps but replace the vitamin C serum with an exfoliant: either the exfoliating serum or vitamin A serum. If just using the creams, wait a couple minutes after washing your face when skin is fully dry to apply. The facial SPF should be used as the final and last step of your morning routine.”
