My hair is black, but I’ve been coloring since I was 10 because I was going premature gray. Correction, my mother colored my hair and I began as a teen. I ‘m 40 now so I’ve colored my hair probably 300 times. About once every three months probably. I’m sure that figure isn’t exact, but it’s close. Last year I noticed I had orange in my hair after only a couple washes. White, “empty” hair can turn green or orange when dyed black. The dye was falling out of my gray, now probably white hair. I have streaks which is gonna be pretty cool when I do stop coloring. I kinda liked the peek-a-boo effect, but not the orange, so I decided to try and dye the front of my hair, where the streaks were, red. I refused to use bleach so the best I ever got was a dark burgundy, even with Splat. Again, it starts falling out and I’d done it like 3 or 4 times since last October. I was dealing with pale red and white threads. Cut to now and my bangs and temples are dry and brittle. I was done. I needed to cover grays and go back to black, but I didn’t want to damage it further. I asked a hair dresser friend about plant based dye shampoos and she said it would be gentler on my hair if it worked. I tried a patch test last night to make sure it wouldn’t react with my skin and would cover the gray. It did nothing and I left it for an hour or more. I decided since today was a wash day anyway, I’d try it. I left it in for an hour and a half, maybe two. My scalp never burned or really even itched. Not like with drug store box dyes where you wanna keep a pair of chopsticks handy to scratch your head or you’ll go mad. Completely ignoring the instructions, I rinsed it out, scrubbed in some of my also plant based bar conditioner and left that for 30 mins or so. Guess who’s hair is now black again? I was super surprised. It’s a warm black and I prefer a cool, but I wear toppers anyway. Yeah they cover grays, but I style them so my hair and it are curled together. So grays peek through. I’m just so honestly surprised it worked as well as it did. I have not washed it yet. I wash with rice water, but only once a week. If something drastic happens like the color falling out or staining my pillow, I’ll update this review. My intentions are to only use it when I notice the grays becoming a little unruly. I hope I can use it that way. I was banking on rice water strengthening my hair and I don’t wanna have to bake my head every wash day to keep it black.
As for why the patch test didn’t work: I’m pretty sure it’s two bottles in one, you depress the pump and both products come out together. You mix them in your hands and apply. I think that first little pump wasn’t enough of one or the other products to activate it. I wound up using a lot, working in sections, but all the hair dye videos on youtube say to SATURATE the hair, so I did. Especially in the front where the most work needed to be done. It didn’t dye my skin nearly as dark as a box dye would have and it washed out easily.
I’m so shocked it worked as well as it did. I expected to have to do it a couple times for the effect to “build up” I guess. Idk about all the reviews saying it’s fake. It worked just fine for me.

Wow! this product is definitely a must try! It truly works! So easy to apply, doesn’t stain (washes easily right off your skin after leaving in for 25min), no harsh chemical smell, and product bottle lasts a LONG time. It was starting to become expensive going to the salon every couple of months to dye my roots ($100 each visit) so I had to find something to get by. So happy my brother told me about this product. Me and my siblings have salt & pepper hair start at a very young age (30s and heredity) so we all rave about this shampoo and feel like its taken us back 10 years younger! If you’re on the fence, just do it! Your hair roots will thank you!

I have tried several hair color products in the past. This was the easiest to use and comes with a great plastic cape /cover to protect your clothes, towels, or house. I thought that was so helpful.
The color came out even and lasted a pretty long time.
I will use this more and more and I even went though my house and threw away a few products that had tried and they had left me disappointed. I will not go back to them now so they are not needed anymore.

Here pictures of before and after. It did cover pretty evenly. It didn’t cover all of my grays but most of them. I left it on for 20 minutes. It’s strong, I felt my hair a bit coarse but a little conditioner did the trick. I really liked it. Much easier than applying die. Will continue to use and probably try other shades.

The product was very easy to use. It seems to have two different products inside the bottle so when you do a pump, to a different products come out so make sure to mix them between your gloved hands. Apply directly to dry hair and I left the product on for about 30 minutes and it covered my gray hair perfectly. I also have to warn you that it did stain my shower and shower curtain, so be prepared to wash it afterwards. I got the shade dark brown and it pretty much looks black on me, so keep in mind that it is very strong. My mom also use the product and she said it stained her skin and it was really hard to take it off. She has highlights and even though she only applied it to her roots, she says it darkened the highlights a little bit , so be aware of that. All in all, I really liked this shampoo because it was very convenient, covers grays well, and you don’t waste product because you only pump out what you are really going to need. The cons for that and that the color was really dark on me . I would 100% recommend it.

Yup. I am old and grayhair have been an issue. But i want something looks natural and not look extremely dark and fake. I tried this one and it works. My kids and wife said i look young and healthy now. And most importantly, it looks natural coz it still has a bit of salt and pepper mix on my head which is good. Overall, I like the product. The smell is not good but who cares.
