I have been using this Razor for 5 years now. I did struggle to be consistent at the beginning. I used 2 other safety razors previously which were more beginner friendly but they just didn’t cut very well if the hair was longer or shave as close. This Futur will plow through anything. I often shave a weeks worth of growth off my face and it takes all the hair off with ease. I’ve recently started to use it on my head now too which came with a few bad experiences, I think I am needing to learn all the contours as the last shave went very well. Bad technique you will get some obvious red feedback.

I consider myself to have sensitive skin making a high quality shave soap necessary for me. Since the blade protrudes quite far it does allow you to shave with the wrong angle which will drag the blade across your skin. With good technique this requires no pressure which I have come to really enjoy shaving in this way. It gives me a very close shave. I use Feather blades. I do find the first shave I have to be more careful, second shave with a feather blade on this razor is my ideal scenario.

I have tried all settings. I shaved at 3.5 for a long time. Currently at 2.5 now. It’s aggressive at every setting, I would take the settings as to fine tuning the amount of pressure to pair with the way you shave. Longer growth I find a higher setting works better.

I felt a bit lazy after shaving with a straight razor for 10+ years, and wanted something simpler. It’s a safety razor, and there’s no problem shaving with i.e. Feather, just go on have a great shave.
It looks great, and it feels great. No problems reaching any areas, youl’ll learn.
    Have a great shave!

Aussi bien les débutants que les initiés peuvent utiliser ce rasoir. C’est un plaisir de changer l’écartement de la lame à son goût pour adapter le rasoir à son type de barbe. Je mets 5 étoiles…

Best razor for wet shaving. Use seeing at 6 for first round of shave. Use seeing 1-2 for second round of shave. Needs some practise if you are coming from Gillette razors. But you will realise that shave quality is very high once you learn how to shave. Always use high quality feather blades with these.

I grew up in a time when multi blade cartridges were new and all the rave, so naturally that’s where I started. And stayed for my entire life until now. What a mistake…
This razor is amazing. I was a little scared to use it at first after reading reviews of carnage face after your first go. I even used a cartridge razor again instead of this when it first came in. Finally today I tried this thing out and wow, I have a crazy close shave and didn’t cut myself once. This thing makes shaping my beard way easier too. And my skin felt so much better today than after my typical cartridge shaves. It’s was super easy to clean and I’m actually looking forward to my next shave lol.
I suppose there’s a learning curve but it’s basically just picking it up and using it, you adapt quick. By the end I felt it was even easier to use than my cartridges.
Also, I love the style of this thing. I almost got the viking one but I couldn’t get over how childish it looked to me. I’m a dad in the suburbs, not a viking, I think would feel silly holding something like that. I’m man enough without all the viking flare lol.
I love the look of this razor though. It’s simple but very sleek and professional looking. It feels more like a surgical instrument than a razor. Cartridges feel like toys next to this thing.
I’m also looking forward to letting my wife try it out, other reviews have talked about home much their wives like it too.
SO, if you are on the fence because you’ve never used a double edge safety razor like this, I strong encourage you to give it a shot. I thought maybe I would return if I didn’t like it but now I never want to use a cartridge again. You will not regret this purchase.

I bought this almost 3 yrs ago as a 50th birthday gift to myself. I have multiple reasons of why I wanted a double-edged razor. My reasons are 1) get a better shave, 2) get more involved with my shaving experience, 3) become more ecological, 4) lower my costs.

    1) I get a great shave from this razor. It’s my first razor of this type I have ever bought and am not disappointed. I can change the aggressiveness with a turn of the handle. I don’t know how other double-edged razors work. Are they able to adjust the aggressiveness with a turn of the handle? With this option on this razor, I think it is perfect for a beginner. As the instructions say, start at “1” and adjust it until you’re comfortable with the results. Also, I would get ingrown hairs that were a pain to shave. I read in an article that with every swipe of a disposable blade is a scrape to the skin. A disposable with 2-7 blades is 2-7 scrapes to the skin. So, that one hair you’re trying to get and swipe 2-5x, do the math. This creates tougher skin and makes hair more difficult to reach the surface. With a double-edged razor, one swipe is one scrape. And it gives such a better end result. I have had way fewer ingrown hairs.

    2) With disposables, it’s too easy to just shave and not think about it. I wanted to be more invested and understand the process better. I bought a fogless mirror (I shave in the shower), shaving cream cup, shaving cream, after shave lotion, a shaving brush and razor blades. Did it take some time to get used to the process? Anything worthwhile takes time to understand. And it is so worthwhile. I could give the list of products I bought for my process, but that was part of the fun. If someone wants it, ask and I will put it in here.

    3) Do you ever think about where those disposables go when you’re done? I do. Since they’ve touched skin and probably blood, they aren’t recyclable. You would have to dispose of them as someone does needles, in a biohazard container. They use plastic to mold them. I couldn’t do that anymore. So much waste!

    4) Cost! How much do the disposables cost? Gillettes? $45 for 12 cartridges? Sure, Harry’s and Dollar Shave have lower costs than Gillette. But they use the same process to make them; plastic and metal that isn’t recyclable. My total cost to begin this process was about $170 in 2020. It’s closer to $210 now. Most of the items I bought are durable and I still use them. The only things that I need to buy are razor blades, shaving cream and after shave lotion. My razor blades cost $8 for 100 blades, shaving cream is $16 about every 6-7 months and after shave lotion is $16 every 6 months. I just bought more blades after 3 yrs. I have a used blade container I put used blades in that isn’t full yet. It’s close though. The containers for the shaving cream and after shave lotion are recyclable.

If my reasons intrigue you, then please try going this direction. I haven’t regretted it once.

I’ve had issues with a number of safety razors breaking in the last two years, including one from Merkur. The design for replacing blades involves pulling the top off, there are no threaded parts where water can build and calcify which has been my main issue in previous models. Removing and reinserting the top gives a satisfying click and the construction as a whole is very solid.

The adjustable blade settings work very well and operates smoothly. Even though I tend to use one of the narrower settings the ability to widen it helps a lot with cleaning out the interior of the razor. I have noticed some lather getting into the device but it still operates smoothly after several months.

The thing I’ve appreciated the most is the weight. This is by far the heaviest safety razor I’ve owned and the first one that truly feels as though the weight alone will always produce a satisfying shave. This makes it very easy to use compared to other models I’ve owned.
