  1. Marisa Binda

I have been buying this direct from my hairdresser for years, but when she made the leap to being self-employed she didn’t have the capacity to keep this in stock. So on her recommendation I purchased online. Nice, easy to use wax that does for me!!!

I’m 50 with very fine hair and male pattern baldness. I had been using various gels to style and hold my hair but thought I’d give this a try. It did not work at all in dry hair. I couldn’t get it to spread evenly and it wouldn’t hold, but spreads easily in dampened hair and holds the style. The best part is that it doesn’t make my scalp itchy. I was always scratching my head thinking I had dry scalp, but it turns out it was the hair gel. I used several different brands of gel throughout the years but always had the itchy scalp. The moment I used this cream instead the itch was gone.

I love the way this product holds my hair style. The smell isn’t the best I’ve ever had but it’s okay.

  4. Dan

    Excelente, perfeito!!! Comprem sem medo.

I’m an idiot. I bought the matteral instead of this and thought I got a fake. And I didn’t return within the window because I was still finishing my previous jar of reformer. But the scent and hold of matteral is awful to be honest.

I’ve purchased reformer 7 times on Amazon and like 4 other times from my barber. It lasts forever if your hair isn’t super long. When I let my hair go it works, but takes way more of this too handle it.

The true reformer smells incredible and holds perfect. Strong, but “reformable”, matte but present, sleek but subtle. It’s perfect. My current jar is almost done and I’m ordering another since the matteral I accidentally ordered won’t do. I’ve tried many hair products before, this is the best. I use reformer every day unless I wear a hat.

This product has been my go-to for years because it is light and has an awesome matte finish, allowing your hair to have volume and create texture. I use this for a men’s modern undercut style, to allow for height and maintaining direction to my hair. I finish with tresseme hairspray to hold in position for a full day work as a physical therapist.

My hair is naturally thick and wavy/curly but I use a roller brush and blowdry before applying to straighten my hair.

I typically hold my hair in place using American Crew gel, which has always done a good job for me. On a recent trip I forgot to pack my gel, and a friend let me use his Mitch Putty. I have to say, I was impressed, and immediately bought a tin when I returned home.

This product does a great job holding my hair in place, and it’s much better for travel than a large tube of gel. Takes up less space in my shaving kit, and seems less likely to leak out since it’s more of a solid than a liquid.

Does the job, seems really nice. Highly recommend.

Consigliatissima.

  9. Bryn

I have been using the Reformer for a few weeks now and I am very impressed with the results. This product is great for adding volume and texture to my hair without making it look greasy or stiff. It has a matte finish that gives me a natural and effortless look.
The product is easy to use and a little goes a long way. I just work a small amount into my hands and distribute it through my damp or dry hair, depending on the level of hold I want. The product is flexible and allows me to restyle my hair throughout the day. It also washes out easily with shampoo.

Overall, I think this is a great product for anyone who wants to add some volume and texture to their hair. I would definitely recommend it to others.

I’m another person that has used Reformer for years and have found the new formula pretty awful. The texture is different in a bad way, with the little chunks, it also feels greasier to me. It only has a hint of the good smell the old stuff had. I can no longer smell it after putting it on. I have no faith that they’ll ever switch the formula back so I moved on. Like most large companies, they won’t listen to their customers, they’ll just reduce costs and make as much profit as possible until the product fades into obscurity like most large corps do. I switched to Reuzel fiber pomade in the blue can. It does the job well for me, still matte, with good hold and an ok, if less manly smell. I’d still prefer the old Reformer, but I think that ship has sailed.

    Works well

I have the popular hairstyle where it’s short on the sides and back, then fades up to longer hair on top and kinda spiky/swooped – like Adam Levine: http://us.cdn281.fansshare.com/photos/adamlevine/adam-levine-wallpaper-1034979375.jpg

I have tried what some consider to be the top 3 options on Amazon: Paul Mitchell Mitch Reformer, Tigi Bed Head Matte Separation Wax, and American Crew Fiber. I believe Mitch Reformer to be the superior option of the 3 for my hair and style. I am looking for something that I can style outside the range of 5 seconds after putting it in my hands, something that won’t shine my hair at all, something that will hold throughout the day, and something that will rinse off easily. Mitch Reformer does all these things, though not so much hold great throughout the day.

The problem with Tigi Bed Head is that it’s too sticky and hard to style because of it. It does well with holding throughout the day and leaves my hair with the matte finish, but if I can’t style it the way I want, it’s not going to pass my test. Rinsing it off takes a little work too, it doesn’t come off as easily as the Mitch Reformer.

The problem with American Crew Fiber is a couple things. Not only is it too sticky, leaving it hard to style, but it’s also a little more shine on my hair than I want. This was by far the worst to rinse off. There is no way I can recommend American Crew Fiber because of these things.

The solution I have came up with to make the Mitch Reformer hold a little better throughout the day is touch it with a little hair spray and you’re good to go. I would definitely recommend Mitch Reformer out of the 3 products I tried. Definitely the best of the 3. And the smell doesn’t bother me at all – I actually kinda preferred it.
