I use a Dremel on my dogs’ toenails and one has really long hair and I catch their hair on the trimming attachment. His hair wraps all over the stem too. I think it must be painful so Go Groomer on YouTube suggested I use a wig cap to hold the hair back. It was a brilliant idea. Only thing is I have to be careful not to catch the net. At least that will not hurt him.
