I have had horrible cystic acne for my entire life, and not just on my face: On my arms, my back, my chest, my stomach and even my legs. I know, people must be saying “this is an anti-aging product, not an acne product, what are you doing here?”
When it comes to acne, I have tried literally EVERYTHING. Creams, pills, medicines, injections, diet changes, eliminating gluten, sugar and dairy from my diet, and literally every dermatological solution that exists. Nothing has ever worked. I also always tried to buy things organic and all natural, with no parabens or chemicals because I thought that was the right thing to do.
A few months ago my mom went to a dermatologist and ended up talking to the doctor about me. The doctor said that all of the hesitancy about parabens is unnecessary, and that all they really do is sit on your skin and create a barrier so things don’t get into your pores. She recommended using Neutrogena Ageless intensives night cream for my acne.
At this point I was willing to try anything, so i pushed my fear of parabens and other ingredients aside and gave it a try.
Let me tell you, my only disappointment in this product is that it comes in a small bottle so i can’t use it on my entire body. It cleared the skin on my face in A WEEK. ONE WEEK. Not only have I not had any cystic breakouts on my face, but my skin feels smooth and healthy. This is also the only product that has continued to work for months. I have used multiple products before that seemed to work for the first week and then my skin got used to it and it stopped working. I hope I’m not jinxing it by writing this review but I am absolutely in love with this product, it has changed the skin on my face completely. I think they should come out with a bigger version of it that you can rub all over your body.

I’ve been using this stuff for about 3 /12 months and everything I’ve read indicates that these non-prescription strength over the counter retinol products take about 3 months on average to show noticeable results.
So far the experience has been pretty much what medical articles and the manufacturer said to expect. I have been using it daily from the start.
1.) Some initial redness that lasted maybe the first two weeks. But nothing painful. It looked like I had a mild windburn or sunburn.
2.) Some dryness and flaking off of old skin for maybe the first 2-3 weeks.
3.) My skin feels softer…..LOL, almost abnormally soft for a guy.
4.) No real change to wrinkles or loose skin around my eyes or neck thus far.
To give some idea of my starting point, I’m a 60 year old guy with pretty good skin to begin with. I don’t have any sun damage and people say I look about 10 years younger than my true age. I’ve used a daytime face cream with SPF 15 UV protection for probably 7 years. I eat healthy and exercise. I’m not overweight. No health problems. No major wrinkles at all.
I’m not looking for miracles, just a little preventive maintenance and tightening up around my eyes and neck. This stuff isn’t too expensive and I’m hoping that since it’s behaved as expected so far that I will get the average result in the 3-4 months it takes for retinol to do its thing. I’ll update as time goes on and give a final rating when I reach the 4 month point. Oh, and using it daily, a tube looks to be lasting about a month for me. I’d bet the manufacturer came up with the odd 1.4 oz size based on a 1 tube = 1 month estimation.
Edit 5/13/2017: The 1 month per tube usage rate seems to be holding up for me. I’m completely past the redness and skin shedding at the end of month 2. The effects have been subtle but I do notice a difference. Mainly on my neck under my chin and around my eyes which is where I had the most problems. Results are probably completely variable depending on how bad your skin was to start with. Some people may see more dramatic changes than I have. I’ve also been using it on “age spots” on the backs of my hands and it has definitely lightened them. Maybe 50%. But I don’t know how much more I can expect. It improved them but hasn’t eliminated them in 60 days.
Edit 6/23/2017: OK, I just finished my 3rd tube of this product. This one went just a little more than a month. So, I’m about 3 1/2 months into this experiment with Retinol. I have to say that at this point I have seen results and it did take about as long as all the articles I read indicated. Based on the not dramatic but noticeable improvement I’ve seen, I think I’ll continue using it. Besides, I bought 3 tube on my last order so I’ve got two in the drawer. I’ll update again at the end of 5 months.

I love this stuff, I just bought 4 more of them. I use them as a moisturizer in the morning and at night sometimes. I don’t sleep well so my eyes always are somewhat baggy (I’m a 45 year old man), these seem to help lessen them. They aren’t a miracle but great for the price. I use the product for my whole face. There is no SPF in these either which is good for me as I like to get a little color as I’m not in the sun too much.
Some other things I like:
– there’s no smell to it
– goes on smoothly and no left over
– don’t have to use a ton of it so the tube lasts a long time
– the price
– never have used retin-a products so not real familiar with all I know is there’s no irritation or anything
– improvement in skin look overall, not just wrinkles
– I trust Neutrogena
– wrinkles/bags seem to have lessened, not a huge amount though
– I’ve had no tingling/burning like I read in other reviews, didn’t know it could even happen and I kinda use liberally, going to be more conservative
– no breaking out, no peeling in fact I’m not an expert at skincare and thought this is just a basic face moisturizer, I’ll have to use it just at night going forward

I’ve been using retinol for a long time and I feel like this stuff didn’t make much of a difference – and I went through the whole tube and my skin didn’t look or feel any different. I switched to CeraVe retinol and I like that stuff way better, my skin is firmer and I’m having less acne breakouts.
