I have very fine hair and have always used a gel to give hair some body. My go to was Redken 06 thickening lotion which Redken discontinued. I have since tried products made by L’Oreal, AG lift paste and more and none of them worked. I tried NIOXIN as soon as I received it (delivered one day early) and I am beyond impressed. The gel has a pleasant scent, pale grey in color and is thick. A pea size dollop suffices for great hold and styling. Even the humidity where I live doesn’t breakdown the style. If you have suffered a flat hairdo or styling do BUY this!

I feel like I’ve tried them all but I always keep coming back to Nioxin Thickening Gel. It only takes a small amount and it distributes easily through my hair. I can get a comb/brush through my hair as I blow dry it (some thickening gels are so sticky they actually tangle my hair). It gives my hair a little oomph without dulling the shine. I’ve probably been using it for at least 10 years and don’t foresee making a change. It’s a keeper.

This product boasts body…it does give density and it has a nice fresh smell. However, it doesn’t hold well in humidity. The quality IS superb but I don’t think this is a good summer product as it seemingly disappears from the hair quickly enough after styled.

I’ve been working it–it requires a lot of product, often used on semi-damp hair, and you will get a lot of density and decent hold to boot.
No flaking, No build up. This is a good volume gel.

Yo compré este gel con la intención de usar un gel que cuidara de mi cabello, no me enfoque tanto en el engrosamiento del cabello que clama poseer. El Gel huele bien, tiene buena fijación y pude moldear mi cabello a mi gusto con apenas algo de producto (lo mismo que estaba acostumbrado con otros geles) me sorprendió lo bien que queda el cabello y los resultados que da. Escribo esta reseña siendo el primer día de aplicación, quizá actualice después para brindarles más detalle a largo plazo. De momento pienso seguir comprándolo.

I had high hopes for the Nioxin Thickening Hair Gel since the brand is so well-known and respected, but this product was a complete letdown. It left my hair feeling uncomfortably hard and even painful at times. Instead of preserving or protecting my hair, it seemed to cause more hair loss and dried my hair out horribly. Really disappointed with this product.

As I have aged, my hair has thinned considerably. I’ve tried many, many different products to give my hair a little lift or some body; nothing has lasted more than a couple of hours (and if it rained I was sunk!). I have used this product every day and it delivers beautifully! My “lift” lasts all day and through the evening. My hair looks thicker and healthier; frankly, I look ten years younger! I use about a dime sized portion, rub it on both hands and then through my (short) hair. Finish up with a round brush and blow dryer. I look great all day (and I’ve gotten the compliments to prove it). I highly recommend this product and I’m now a believer!

I have a lot of hair but it’s fine,it’s sits just below my shoulder and is wavy ( very fine blond/gray strands,I am 64 and try to air dry)..I am taking care to make sure my hair stays healthy.this gel reminds me of dippity do..I used it with magnetic rollers and let it air dry,it does add thickness and can sure hold the curls.plus this gel is not sticky at all. Blow dry or air dry,I would recommend this.to me it is worth the price point.

My hair is medium length. And I have to say this holds better then I expected. I usually have to use a lot of gel to hold it in place. But this product I can use a much smaller amount and it works.
The smell is something that could be changed. Ever walk into a salon and get hit with that smell? Well this smells like that. It does seem to dissipate after a bit. But it is still pretty strong right off. I wish things were really fragrance free. No smells what so ever. But alas fragrance free is not free of fragrances.
Otherwise yes I recommend this product.
