I love the feel of the Ogee products. They’re made from natural ingredients and seem to keep my aging skin happy!

Have been using this product only short time but really like the smooth feeling of skin. Noticeably healthier skin.

I’m in the process of reviewing a few products in the Ogee lineup, and this “natural retinol bakuchiol” serum or elixir (depending on whether the product description here or the product labeling is referenced) is as disappointing as Ogee cleansing cloths, albeit for different reasons. The main reason that the cleansing cloths disappointed me was the inability of Ogee to simply copy-and-paste the same list of ingredients in their product description and product labeling, as I discovered significant inconsistencies. The reason that this serum or elixir disappointed me is probably due to the decision of Ogee to make use of “caprylic/capric triglyceride (from coconut)” as the first ingredient by volume rather than “simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil”, which is listed as the second ingredient by volume. As I mentioned in my review for the cleansing cloths, “I’ve had very positive experiences using jojoba seed oil as an oil-based serum”, but the volume of caprylic/capric triglyceride ingredient must be so high as to outweigh the jojoba seed oil, rendering it largely ineffective relative to the part it could have played as the first ingredient. In contrast, I recently tried pure jojoba oil from Yoken, which not only ranks highly as a substitute for oil-based serums, but economically so: $0.94 per ounce compared to $176 per ounce. If it’s bakuchiol you’re truly after, inexpensive alternatives can be purchased separately and mixed with the aforementioned Yoken product.

I very much like the look and feel of this oil on my skin. It has not made me breakout which is excellent, but it also does not fully hydrate my dry skin. I apply this after my hydrating ampoule and peptide serum but still find that I wake up the next day with skin that is a little dry and tight. I need another oil on top of this one to seal in hydration and effectively moisturize. Otherwise this is a lovely product and it is very well made by a great company that I love!

Who should consider this product? Anyone with concerns regarding pigmentation or wrinkles, but especially those who do not respond well to retinol. Bakuchiol is not a retinol, nor does it have retinol like side effects. It is very gentle and does not irritate or redden the skin, it will not cause you to burn in the sun like retinol. It does promote cell turnover and even out tone and texture issues. In my experience it works best when used at night and paired with day time use of vitamin C.

  5. Prime Mom

This product is like a light layer of oil that you apply on the skin. The best part is that it absorbs well and quickly into the skin without showing any oily effects. It doesn’t have any tingling effect like real retinol or any strong fragrance. It is supposed to be reducing dark spots and wrinkles. I haven’t noticed any changes yet. I am disappointed with this given the price at which this comes.

This Ogee Elixir is packed with great ingredients, including some organic ones. I have been trying Bakuchiol as an alternative to retinol. It’s not exactly the same, but I like that it is gentler. I also like that I don’t have to worry as much about sun sensitivity since I live in Florida. I still wear sunscreen though. This oil is fragrance free and absorbs nicely. I top it with my usual moisturizer, and it feels moisturizing and lightweight on. Recommend.

My skin loves this product and company. It seems expensive, but worth it on your skin.
