  1. Fred S.

The Oral-B Pro 500 provides a great value in a basic electric toothbrush. Used correctly it does a great job, is well made, and will give you a few years of twice-daily use. It comes with one basic brush head, but I changed it out with the Oral-B “Floss Action” type brush head which has been my preferred type for years. In addition to the “2 minute timer” feature, this model also gives “30 second” alerts that correspond to the recommended time to spend brushing each quadrant. That’s a bit to regimented for me, and I ignore all but the 2 minute alert. You might find the 30-second alerts to be a useful feature, though.

I’ve had similar lower-priced Oral-B electrics before, and my only complaint is that after the first few months of ownership the batteries begin to require more frequent recharging. But these toothbrushes dependably provided 3 years of use, and I haven’t seen the need to pay $100 or more for a “better” electric toothbrush.

This advertises on the box that there are 2 speeds but there are actually 3. This toothbrush is pretty powerful and I like that I can adjust the speed to how much brushing i need. Took me a little bit to get used to as my other spin brush wasn’t nearly as good. I love how clean my teeth feel afterwards and i noticed my teeth look whiter as well. I would highly recommend. I am going to be buying one for each of my kids. You will need brush head replacements because it doesnt come with one.

I was debating on getting an electric toothbrush, but my dentist recommended it due to me brushing to hard. I absolutely love this toothbrush. It’s easy to use, stays charged, love that it had three settings.

  4. Elizabeth B. Owens

Works well, comfortable to use. Not so many different speeds or extras, which I don’t care for anyway. Very low noise, good fit in my hand. Just a good basic toothbrush.

There are too many model variations. I have used similar models for years but this is probably the worst:
    1. Is it so difficult to have a charging light? Will it add more than $1 to your cost, Braun?
    2. The manual doesn’t tell you how to choose the modes? I had to go to the website and read through two manuals before I found one similar. Note I say similar as there wasn’t one for this model that I just bought.
    3. Following on from point no. 2, the box it came in said there were two modes but those (similar) manuals said 3 and testing it, it seems like there are 3. But … see next point
    4. Why does it start at the slowest speed? It means that when I want to use the regular daily cleaning mode I have to press the on/off button THREE times EVERY TIME! Other reviewers have said the same thing and is it so difficult to either start at the last used speed or have a separate button for speeds?

Is it any wonder Western-designed products are slowly, or rather, quickly losing the battle with China-designed products. I will definitely not buy another Braun or Oral B after this. They only last 2-3 years anyway. For the record, I had to throw away the recent one because it powers on by itself for no reason. Ridiculous.

Does a better job than standard toothbrushes, gets around the teeth well. Holds a charge a long time. Happy with purchase.

Most electric toothbrushes vibrate, which as an autistic, absolutely drives me nuts sensory wise. It makes my skin and mouth itch, tickle, and go numb so I simply would avoid brushing my teeth as a result. This one rotates, no vibration. It’s the only electric toothbrush I can tolerate. I keep my toothbrush in the shower (charger is on the sink) because otherwise, with my ADHD, I struggle to remember to brush my teeth. I plug this in once a week and use it throughout the week. I’ll never switch, this will be the only electric toothbrush I’ll ever use.

I hate to admit it but I didn’t notice that toothbrush has three speeds. It is fantastic. Especially the top speed that is good for polishing. Also, it is hard to reach the backs of the rear teeth. But not with this toothbrush.

Bought this for the husband to replace his basic electric Oral-B vitality series, he doesn’t feel there’s any difference in quality.

This toothbrush is just what I need, small brush and gets the job done, 3 speeds which is helpful. I highly recommend it and reasonably priced.
