I am really happy with this hairspray especially considering the price. My usual hairspray costs more than double the cost per bottle and comes with less product. I won’t argue that they are interchangeable and I won’t stop buying my usual hairspray, but for day-to-day, this is a great low-cost substitute.
The thing I like the most about this hairspray is definitely the scent. It’s great. It almost smells like candy and the scent lasts a while. I will say that it’s strong, so for those that are scent-sensitive, this isn’t a good option. But for those who enjoy fun, sugary smells, this might be for you. The thing I like the least about this hairspray is the bottle size. These bottles are massive. If you’re hoping to bring these traveling, you’d better have a giant bag. Admittedly, these have more product than my standard hairspray, so I would expect the bottle to be larger, but this seems a little ridiculous.
As far as performance goes, I was pleased with the hold, the texture, and the feeling of my hair after application. I wasn’t a fan of the spray strength, the spray width, and the dulling effect on my hair. Holding this bottle was easy for me, despite the large size, and the nozzle was simple to spray while maneuvering it around the head. I feel like this spray added a lot of texture to my hair that helped to hold my curls long-term. After application I liked the feeling, it wasn’t rock solid, but it was firm to the touch and not silky smooth, something that I expect considering this is a max hold hairspray. What I wasn’t impressed with was the hairspray’s actual spray. The product comes out quickly but it doesn’t spray in a super wide path and it doesn’t cover hair evenly. More expensive hairsprays will give you more even and light coverage across a larger area, I feel that with this one I end up with more hairspray in certain areas and it’s not quite even enough. My final complaint should come as no surprise because this hairspray doesn’t claim to add shine, but it dulls the hair’s natural shine and leaves my hair looking slightly less healthy. As I don’t pile on the hairspray, this isn’t a big deal and certainly isn’t a deal-breaker for me, but for those who love the shine, this one doesn’t have it.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hairspray. At the current price of just over $5 per bottle, this package deal is the perfect price for a strong holding hairspray that gives a lot of texture without leaving your hair feeling like it’s carved from stone.
