I used to be a manual toothbrush holder but after I started my Invisalign process, I decided to give electric a go and I’m never going back! I purchased this item back in October of 2021 and after I dropped it, it started to give me trouble. But after almost 4 years of use, the head started to give me trouble. I’m sure it would have kept working for me much longer. RIP to my baby, gone but not forgotten.

I would have purchased this exact model since if your teeth are fine you don’t need anything special and it gets the job done of keeping your teeth clean and white. I was able to get another model out of luck, but if I didn’t I would have purchased this again. Battery life was amazing too! I charged it once every month or so. Great price, longevity, and gets the job done. I’m no longer afraid of dental cleanings as with flossing, using electric to ensure all of the plaque is gone, I’m good to go!. The color pink can’t be beat as well! Also took this in my travels and it’s nice to not worry about your dental health abroad.

I would definitely recommend this item if you’re seeking an electric toothbrush that gets the job done well, good battery life, sleek design, and affordable without all of the extra cool but not needed extras of more advanced models 🙂 you won’t regret it!

For a relatively inexpensive electric toothbrush this one really confused me. It has a few interesting features, like sensors to tell you when you need a new brush head, an automatically increasing power level for new users, and little pulses that tell you how long you’ve been brushing. It also does a nice job at leaving my teeth feeling clean and the battery lasts a REALLY LONG TIME!

But it has some really weird quirks, that are almost enough for me to not recommend it.

    1. You cannot adjust the power or level of vibration. The brush is clearly capable of this because it does it automatically with the first few uses. The makers apparently decided nobody should be able to do this on their own. A negative mark in my book.

    2. The timer is awful. Sure I like to know how long I’ve been brushing my teeth. But this toothbrush automatically shuts off after 2 mins, which as it turns out my ideal brushing time is about 2 mins and 30 seconds. So each and every time I brush my teeth, my toothbrush will turn off and I have to turn it back on to finish up. This “feature” cannot be turned off and the amount of time cannot be adjusted.

    3. I’m not sure exactly what it is, it might be a combination of the frequency and the shape of the brush, but every time I brush, a river of foamy toothpaste runs down the handle and onto my hand. Every single time. I’ve had many other toothbrushes and none of them have done this to me. I now brush my teeth with the handle pointing into the air with my head tilted back like I’m playing a tiny vibrating trumpet. Not ideal.

I really can’t fault it too much because it cleans well, but I think I might still try something else next time.

I am writing this review now because after 4 years my toothbrush has finally stopped working. It is unfortunate, however, I have achieved so much satisfaction from this toothbrush and praise from my dentist.

My only wish is that they offered a program where you could return the failed piece and purchase at a discounted price a replacement.

I used to use a regular toothbrush, and I finally splurged on one of these per my dentists recommendation. I absolutely love it! It provides a superior clean for my teeth, and there’s a timer on it so that you spend a full 2 minutes brushing… which apparently I was shortcutting before. There’s no way a regular toothbrush can move this fast, and provide a deep clean like this. I highly recommend buying this! Oh and the battery life is excellent. It lasts approximately 2 weeks between charges.

Great toothbrush. Lots of styles of brush heads to choose from as well. The charge lasts a decent amount of time too. 10/10

I got this toothbrush after my old one died. I got a great deal and some of the features I like are that this toothbrush has three different settings for brushing, gum care and polishing your teeth. It has a good battery life, the only negative I would mention is this item did not come with a charging cable when I purchased it, but I have whole a whole box of cords so it did not effect me.

My Phillips toothbrush finally died after 8 years of steady use. I spent quite of bit of time trying to find a replacement that cleaned at a decent price. I bypassed all those fancy shmancy brushes that were for sale. Bluetooth, Apps, really? I settled on this one and so far am very happy with it. It is a bit smaller, but it really works very well. Since so many things require a USB connection, I have a dedicated outlet just for these devices. Makes it much simpler. This brush is quite powerful and left my mouth feeling dentist clean. If you want to keep things simple, I recommend this one, and you don’t need your phone to use it.

I bought these for my family on my dentist’s recommendation. It took a bit of research to understand why there were all the different models– there are so many different ones to choose from. Long story short, look carefully at the toothbrush handle when you are choosing. If you want just a turn on/turn off toothbrush that does everything you need, then the handle should have just one on/off switch, and it will be much more affordable, such as this model. This will time you for your 2 minute brushing and buzz every 30 seconds to let you know to switch to a different area, as all of the other Sonicare brushes do. This model is a simple, affordable brush that does the same cleaning job that more expensive Sonicares do.
When you see more switches labelled “clean and white” or “sensitive”, it just means that they do different things, and that is what you pay more for. “Clean and white” will just go for an extra 30 seconds, in which time you are supposed to go over your teeth a bit extra for whitening and stain removal. With a regular single-switch toothbrush, you can just turn it on again and go as long as you want, as well, and do the same thing. The “sensitive” setting will just give you a bit less power if you have sensitivity. None of us have ever found this necessary. At first, the sensation of the toothbrush in your mouth is a bit surprising, but you get used to it quickly, and it feels wonderful! It is really true that you get that “fresh-from-the-dentist” clean feeling!! It really is quite shocking how clean your teeth feel! We were good brushers with a regular brush, but the difference was still very noticeable.
The toothbrushes come with an Easy Start setting on them which means that they start out a bit lower-powered for the first 14 uses, and then they run at normal speed– this setting can be turned off. You just need to read the manual to learn how to do this. There are also fancier, more expensive models that will connect to your phone and such, but the basic models brush just the same. One thing I learned to watch for is to read the description carefully, and see what the power of each model is. You can look them up on the Philips site. Some have 31,000 brush strokes per minute, and some have 62,000, for instance. We got the 62,000, and they are great!
One thing that we found was that no one told us that a whole family can share one handle. It seems a no-brainer, but I hadn’t thought of it! One of the reasons that I didn’t buy them years ago was that they were too expensive to buy one for each member of the family, but if I’d known that I could just buy one handle and each person their own toothbrush head, I could have managed that, even with a herd of small children. Nonetheless, we have them, now, though the children are a bit older. I guess they don’t want people to only buy one, so they don’t advertise this, but it would really be in their best interests to do so, as well as it being in the best interests of the users, as the users’ teeth would benefit! I know that our family would’ve had them years ago if only I had known this. The Philips company would benefit because they would then have little Sonicare users who would grow up to be dedicated adult Sonicare users, and would then pass this on! I know that my children will continue, now, after we’ve started using them. I do also think that it could definitely help small children have their teeth brushed more effectively, as brushing would be fun, and there is so little skill needed.
Another thing to know is that there are many different heads. There are many different basic brush heads which work great, and there is the Diamond Clean, which has tighter-packed bristles to work on staining better. Even the basic brush heads are fantastic, and all fit on any brush handle, so you don’t have to keep buying only the same type of head that came with the original package. Watch for sales and they are not nearly so expensive. I recommend using Sonicare brand heads, though. My children and I use the C2 brush head, and my husband uses the Diamond Clean brush head for more stain prevention. Usually, he has staining starting to show soon after a cleaning at the dentist’s, but his teeth are still white now, and it’s been a few months. What a difference! We would never go back to regular brushes! We love our Sonicare toothbrushes, and these ProtectiveClean 4100 models were just perfect for us– simple, affordable, and they had nice colours available. We have pink for the ladies and black for the men in our family, but I see that there are other colours. Enjoy your Sonicare toothbrushes– you’ll never go back!! 🙂
