I’ve been using this curling brush for a few months now and thought I could properly evaluate it. First, I have fairly fine hair that’s more on the thin side than thick. It’s shoulder length, but was about 6″ longer when I first got the brush, so I’ve tested it on both lengths. I have to say that I’ve NEVER had a curling tool iron or brush or even hot rollers that would hold a beautiful curl in my hair for any length of time, until now! The Phoebe curling brush actually sets the curl in my hair and will hold curl for hours. I’ve attended outdoor weddings and BBQs in the higher summer heat and still had a pretty good head of curl (it does help if I use more product in my hair on these occasions). This was unheard of before for me.

It took a little while for me to get used to the curling brush, especially with longer lengths of hair, but it was doable with practice. I think the biggest key I’ve found is to section your hair off neatly so you don’t have hair sticking up behind the piece you’re rolling. If your brush contacts some of those hairs you didn’t intend to roll, you can get it caught and get panicky. If you do get it a bit caught, shut off the heat immediately and calmly try to tease out those hairs that caught in the teeth. Then you can unroll the length you intended to curl from the brush. It might help if you have another person handy who can see what’s going on and has more free hands to untangle the hair. This really only happened a time or two until I figured out a better procedure to keep those stray hairs out of the way while rolling. You can use a clip if needed to hold the hair away, but it’s not really necessary with some practice.

I also found that if you have really long hair and you want the curl to start higher on your head than just the ends, you can start rolling the portion closer to your head and heat set that before incorporating the end length. Again, a little practice. If you’re like me and haven’t curled your hair a lot recently, I found some how-to videos on YouTube from Dry Bar that were very helpful.

I like the construction of the Phoebe. I often accidentally hit the on/off button when styling, but the nice thing is it won’t shut the unit off unless you depress the button for several seconds. It’s easy to set the heat and has a digital display showing you what setting you’ve achieved (I have it set at about 355 for my fine hair), and it also shows you the progression of degrees as it heats up. It heats up pretty quickly too. Because of the bristles, I don’t burn myself as easily and it nicely combs out the hair while curling. The cord is VERY long—maybe a bit too long for me, but it’s always nice to have more cord than too little. The grip of the handle is very comfortable in my hard and easy to hang on to while working on your hair. I would highly recommend it, and have recommended it to a lot of friends and family who compliment my curls! The price is very reasonable compared to higher-end brands that probably deliver similar results. I really can’t think of any negatives—it’s one of those exceptionally pleasant surprises you rarely find in a product!

I love this Phoebe curling wand. It makes beautiful curls & is very versatile as it locks in temp’s all the way up to 430 degree’s. Very comfortable to hold onto. Very reliable.

This is a perfect curling iron for me.
It’s shorter in length so it’s easier to maneuver around for back curls. It heats up quickly and gives lovely, soft curls. I bought it in the blue and it’s so much nicer than the regular black one I just said good bye to. I will keep this one in the lovely little bag that it came in – that will keep all the little teeth safe and sound. I’m super pleased with this curling iron and highly recommend it!

I have very average hair with a tiny bit of natural wave. I put a small section of hair in, slid it toward the ends, and it got stuck! I could not get it out of my hair. I ended up pulling my hair out strand by strand and as the minutes ticked by, my hair started breaking off where it was burnt. I ended up with burned frazzled hair on top in the back and had to go have my hair stylist cut off the burned part. She blended it in as much as possible, but it’s going to be quite a while before my hair grows enough to fully hide what happened. I asked Amazon to allow a return and because it’s been more than 30 days (I didn’t have time to use it for the first few weeks) I have to pay a restocking fee. Unbelievable for a defective and potentially harmful product!

I have used a brush type curling iron on my fine hair for about 30 years. For a while, they were hard to find. The flat and tong curling irons seem to be more popular. I bought this one because it has dual voltage and am planning a trip to Europe. I decided to try it out first and absolutely LOVE this curling iron. It is much better than the one I’ve been using and so now I’m using it every time I curl my hair (almost every day). It gets really hot – I use 355 degrees and that’s perfect for my hair. I guess if you have thick hair you might want to turn it up hotter.

The design is excellent – it has features that have been really well thought out. The soft-ish bristles are long so you cannot burn your hand. The cord is really long which will be great for travel as sometimes electrical outlets are not so easy to access or are far away from the hotel room’s mirror. (I have experienced this many times.)

Fast heating! I timed it and it took only 40 seconds to reach my 355-degree temperature.

Some users complained about their hair getting tangled in the brush. I never get my hair caught in brush curling irons because I have been using them for so many years. It’s just a case of rolling up your hair in a straight line, and then unrolling carefully in the same straight line. Practice makes perfect!

Absolutely highly recommend. Best curling iron ever!

The Brussels are kind of hard and that makes the brush a little painful and hard to use it. It works well overall and made my hair look great though. Just wish it didn’t hurt as much as it does.

I ordered this Sunday night and got it by midday that same Tuesday. Great on shipping. Did some research and decided this one had the best reviews on IG, YT and here on Amazon. I normally use a Tourmaline Wand from a different company but I even though I got my time down to 20 minutes and get phenomenal results on that, I just wanted something easier and faster for every day use. Packaging: great. New, came with everything and the wand was in a felt bag. Perfect for traveling. Product and use: Cord is LONG. Great. Swivels 360 degrees – which you’ll definitely need for use. Heats up in 30 seconds. Has a lock/feature so that you don’t accidentally alter the temperature once you find your optimal setting. Lightweight, the right size to hold (for me in particular with small hands). Recommend hair be at least 90% dry if you’re going for curls that will last and keep their form. I started with 50% dry because I wanted to use it to dry my roots and go directly into curling. I sectioned my hair and used about 1-1.5″ sections of hair. My hair is soft wavy/curly and requires higher heat to get it straight or curled. I set the temp for 380° and that was perfect for softer curls. I’m sure if I wanted more tight curls 390 would have been fine as well. It’s important to use a NON-STICKY heat protectant so that you are able to twirl the wand while you’re curling. I wrapped my hair around the barrel once and then used the wand to rotate up or down in the direction I wanted, while pulling away from my body. The bristles stay cool to the touch. You can easily tangle the hair if you are trying to do too much at once or if you wrap the hair around the barrel too many times. If your hair products are sticky or leave a residue, this will also create a problem for you while twirling. First time use it took me about 5 tries to perfect the technique. After that it’s pretty quick and easy to use. Even heat throughout, and I love the ends that stays cool – it enables you to hold the wand and tip to pull the wand through your hair and keep a continuous rolling motion. The 360° power cord rotation is handy here. Overall I give it a 4 out of 5 because my hair did get tangled a few times and I was worried about it burning or sticking to the barrel – which it never did. This is a problem because it was still applying heat to already curled hair that I was trying to unroll. Might have been my inexperience… Will update after I’ve used it a couple of times. Definitely worth the money so far.

I liked it because it heats up quickly and works well. Very light weight which was important to me as I
have some physical limitations with my arm. Also cools down quickly when done.
