It smells good, you only need a little and it works well.

Brilliant for straightening & fighting frizz in one of the most humid cities in the South! Smells great and a little goes a long way. I have very very long hair and this makes straightening a breeze and keeps my hair from frizzing or turning into waves.

  3. Victoria Varela

Love this stuff! Works well and leaves your hair with ZERO frizzies! Worth the try!

My hair has damaged ends, which were not terrible until I used another de-frizzing product by another company – it product caused my hair to feel like straw. I tried leave in conditioners (High Dive/Waterfall), as well as conditioning masks, which all helped, but I could still feel the dryness. I made an appointment to finally bite the bullet and cut my hair. At the same time, I had purchased Hot Heat, but had low expectations that it would do much.

Wow – I was so wrong. After 2 uses, I cancelled my hair cut because Hot Heat has made my hear feel and look very healthy. I still used High Dive/Waterfall along with Hot Heat and I could not be happier with the results! I’ve been using it 1.5 months without any issue (I’ve even received compliments on my hair – how great it looks). I’m about 1/2 through the bottle, and use 12 pumps per wash (my hair is about 3-4” below my armpit; once I actually get my hair cut in 3 months, I’ll use way less).

    2 notes…
    1) Not a huge fan of the pump – it is tight when pushing down, but loose when it is moved side-to-side, so it is not uncommon to be mid pump down, and hove the nozzle spin. Not a deal breaker, but whatever.

    2) Not a fan of the name…it is not as memorable as other names, and have to go through other guesses before I get to the right one…Heat Wave? No, implies a specific to a hair type…Hot Flash? No, implies women of a certain age…Hot Zone? No, implies conflict…oh wait, that’s right…Hot Spell. I mean, Sweet Heat or Sweet Heat Relief was right there! Or what about Hot Hot Hot!!! and colab with The Cure. I don’t know…just not a fan of “Hot Spell.”

I moved from a dry, warm state to a more humid state, and I have been trying to find a product to tame my 3C curly hair under these new conditions. This R+Co Hot Spell Thermotech Blowout Balm was not able to keep my curl from coming back in when I went outside, so I gave it to my daughter, who has wavy hair. It works well for her. She uses it when she straightens her hair, and she confirms that it holds during the day. So, this product’s effectiveness seems to depend on hair type. She says that she doesn’t have to use too much, even though she has very long hair.

I was very excited after reading the reviews to use this product. My hair is naturally curly but I blow dry it every other day. I wanted more protection from the dryer so I bought this product. It left my hair dry, hard and frizzy.

I have VERY thick, wavy hair and have always used heat protectant sprays, most recently from DryBar. However, I recently read that balms are better for thick hair, so I decided to try R+Co Hot Spell Thermotech Blowout Balm. All I can say is WOW.

I used this balm for the first time last night, and my hair feels noticeably smoother and less fried. I blow out my hair to straighten it about 1-2 times a week, and I immediately noticed that the ends of my hair felt less fried and straw-like. I think I just need to work on mastering how much to use. It doesn’t feel greasy necessarily, but I can tell I may have used a little too much. As other reviews mentioned, a little goes a long way!

The smell is not overwhelming and reminds me of shampoo. This product is well worth the money, and I am definitely switching to this from now on!

Smells great. A little goes a long way.
