I’m a big fan of R+Co products and its great Mannequin Styling Paste is no exception. It’s in between a pomade, gel, and a balm – but mostly a balm. It’s more on the matte side and is easily ‘unisex’ in its packaging, scent, and utility. A wonderful, versatile styling pomade that doesn’t flake by the end of the day.

I’m interested that so many people say they love the smell! I *HATE* the smell. I hate it so much that, even though I really love the way the product works, I find that I can’t bring myself to use it because I know I’ll have to smell that smell all day long. For me, it smells of earthy/hippie/patchouli + men’s cologne and it’s overwhelmingly strong. It’s such a bummer because it’s the fastest route to texture and volume for my hair and could replace 2 or 3 more expensive products. If they offered in a less powerful or more standard scent, I would gladly pay much more and use it every day in a heartbeat, but as it is, I had to toss 95% of the bottle.
I should say in case it helps other people gauge that I’m sensitive to smell, but not normally someone who throws away hair products for scent reasons. Love the scent of the Oribe products, for example, even though they’re strong smelling.

First I’ll say I much prefer Park Avenue blow out or High Dive to this Mannequin Styling paste but it’s pretty good in it’s own right.
I already have very full and wavy hair but this gave me more volume for sure. It wasn’t as gross feeling in my hair as I expected a paste to be and the next day I could brush my hair without it being a tangled mess.
I don’t know that I have much use for this but I can tell from using it that it would be excellent for making an up-do. It gives that teased rats nest kind of effect with zero effort and it tends to keep whatever shape you style it into. So if you wanted to do a really loose looking French braid, this stuff would work wonders. Any style that needs teasing would love this paste.
The fragrance is ok, kind of a sweet grapefruit scent. It’s not my favorite but it’s not bad and not as polarizing as the fragrance of Park Avenue blowout (which people either love or hate).
Overall, I think it’s best as a special occasion product; wedding hair, prom hair or that kind of thing. An excellent addition to any salon.

Since I was a teenager I have been using products to shape my hair. This one is the best so far. I see myself using it the rest of my life. My husband loved it too. He went on a business trip and took it with him. I had to order a new one because he refused to give it back. Lol

I didn’t keep this because the fragrance of the product was way too masculine. If for a woman, find a different R&Co product. They have so many wonderful fragrances and their products usually perform well.

My daughter suggested this for me and it works great. A little dab will do you. It goes on easily doesn’t feel sticky , gives a natural look and holds all day. I hate my hair in my face and eyes and this keeps it back without needing a headband or clips. I wear my bangs, which are about 4″, off to the side.
