  1. Retired IT Guy

This has excellent reviews for a low-cost shaver, but the first unit delievered had an obvious defect – a hole in the shaving head, large enough that I’m sure it would grab skin, pinch and perhaps result in cuts to my face.
I returned it immediately, of course, and received a replacement in just a couple days. It arrived fully charged, so I went ahead and gave myself a test shave. I was very pleased.
    Update:
I’ve upgraded my rating to 5 stars, because now that I’ve been shaving with this razor a few weeks I’ve come to really love it. It gives a great close shave, and even a sick pass does a respectable job. For its very modest cost, this is a real winner.

Shaves almost as close as a blade and much quicker without all the mess. I had a Remington foil razer for about 30 years and couldnt get foils and blade replacement parts anymore. Anything that last that long deserves to get tried again. So far the shave is comfortable and as close as need be. I would definitely recommend this shaver. Remember super close shave are a good way to get ingrown hairs. I might add this is not the same razor as the last and it seems to shave a little better.

After 50 yrs, I moved back to a foil shaver. This one does a nice job. Cuts well, battery has decent time and it is easy to clean. Remington does have a small problem with their manuals as to charging. My wife had the similar problem with her Lady Remington. They do not adequately explain what the charging display means. For this shaver, that means my shaver had flashing green display and instructions to charge it fully before the first use. Fortunately, you can’t overcharge the shaver – since after 2 hours I still had flashing lights….. flashing means fully charged. I would buy it again.

    Came as mentioned.

Es justo lo que buscaba, funciona muy bien, es silenciosa mientras funciona, la pila es durable y se recarga rápido.

This is a good razor, it gives a very close and smooth shave, and the price is pretty fair. The battery lasts a while too so that’s a an added bonus. It’s also very easy to clean

Now for the bad. The replaceable guard is very fragile and broke within the first week, it’s not the biggest issue however as the guard and blades have to be replaced every 6 months anyways so I’m not docking too many points. Another not real issue but one for me is that the machine isn’t water proof so it can’t be used in the shower or with wet skin, dry skin for best results. The trimmer is basically useless so don’t bother with it. It takes 12 hours to charge completely which is a feature that most companies use on their products to extend the batteries life span, still annoying though.

In all, it’s a good razor, and the issues I have with it are minor at best, 4 stars.

I wanted to switch from a safety razor for when I am out camping so I don’t need to use any water…but I am sold on this razor and am going to use it as my go to! I hadn’t used a foil razor before…had a rotory one years ago and didn’t like it….but this one is reasonably priced, is quiet…and works so well!

I’ve been a long time user of this Remington electric shaver. This most recent one misses the expected quality standard and I suspect it’s a manufacturer change rather than an isolated incident

The new shaver just doesn’t have that same motor speed and intensity as my previous ones. It indcates a full charge but runs like it’s 90% dead.

Thinking I got a defective unit I called for warranty support and they sent me a new one. It functioned the same which leads me to believe that Remington’s changed either the battery or the motor on this latest model

I’ve used several brands of these over the years but maybe it’s time to go back to Braun or Norelco to get more oomph in cutting intensity

Even though warranty replaced it I can no longer recommend this shaver.

I was told this version of Remington buts the Brauns and Phillips to shame, and IT DOES. Great device for everyone who needs a clean look every day.

After using this product for 2 months, I feel I can give an informed review. I have tried numerous electric razors and none even came close to the performance of a disposable razor. Some would do ok, but it took a lot of time to get every whisker, so I always went back to disposables. After reading the reviews for the F5-5800, I decided to give it a try and I am very happy I did!

First off, I was using generic 5 blade disposables and was getting a close shave by going against the grain. I never thought an electric razor would give a comparable shave, but happily, I was wrong. The F5-5800 is damn close to disposables… I would even go as far as to say it’s as close as you can get with an electric razor. The prof for me was, with disposable I could shave once a day with minimal growth. With other electric razors I had to shave once in the morning and then again come late afternoon. With the F5-5800 I shave once in the morning and my shadow doesn’t appear until late in the night, nearly as long as it took with disposables.

Another complaint I had with electric razors is having to go over the same spot again and again to get a clean shave. With the F5-5800, I shave the area twice, just like a disposable. Now, you do have to move the F5-5800 slowly to do the job in 2 swipes, but that’s fine with me and adds very little time to shaving.

The foil is very comfortable against my skin and I have had no problems with irritation at all. I think the folks who had foil problems were either pressing too hard against the skin or the blades were somehow moved up out of place.

I also shave my body. I work out and don’t like the look of a hairy body. The F5-5800 handles this job easily with no pulling or irritation.

The design makes it comfortable to hold and the pivoting head follows the contours of my face and body easily.

The charge lasts for about 4 days of my use and I assume those who shave only their face could a week out of one charge.

The motor is a little loud, but I’m sure that’s due to the power output, which is a more than fair trade in my opinion.

I have skipped a day here and there and the F5-5800 breezed through the extra growth with no hesitation or pulling.

The F5-5800 is well built unit that looks elegant in my opinion. It feels solid and even after the extra time it takes to shave my body, it feels good in my hand – very comfortable. And while looks aren’t important when it comes to a razor, it’s a bonus that I don’t want to hide it when not in use!

Lastly, the price point was excellent! I paid around $40 for it and it came with an extra foil and set of blades which were priced at $20 the last I looked.

If you are looking for an electric razor that cuts as close as a blade without going over the same area 10 times, the Remington F5-5800 fits the bill perfectly! And at this price point, you can’t go wrong!

This is the second time I’ve ordered this exact model. Remington apparently knows they have an excellent product in this lower priced shaver market. The battery lasts for weeks at first and so continues to work well for years, even as the time between charges slowly decreases. I get a great shave when the parts are new and it cleans well under water or with a provided brush.

I knocked off a star, though, as the trimmer stopped working in less than two weeks. This is exactly what happened the first time I bought the same model several years ago. I use a separete haircut/trimmer device which makes that less important but it would be much better if there was a reliable trimmer for sideburns and basic beard or mustache trimming.

    Pros
    –Excellent shaver with tough beard
    –Long lasting battery
    –Long lasting shaver

    Cons
–Trimmer breaks in first week or two and seems to be a product flaw as it happened year ago as well
