I used to use Williams shaving soap, from a company that, many years ago, had a factory in my home town of Glastonbury, Connecticut. When that soap went off the market recently, I tried several soaps and eventually settled on Gentleman Jon. It’s a very pleasant shaving soap, and has helped me recover from the loss of my sentimental favorite.

After trying other shaving soaps on the market over the past 30 years, I thought I would give this one a try. I am so glad I did! Other soaps tend to lose their scent after a few shaves (I think companies just put a few scent drops on the final product as a last step in the production process); but this one held its scent to its very last sliver – it’s really a high quality product that I highly recommend!

I shave my head daily and this has been a great soap with a rich lather and it doesn’t dry my scalp out.

I ordered this as I fancied a change from the Arko shave soap that I have been using for the past 2 years. This soap has a lovely scent to it (much better than Arko), lathers up nice and easily and is just a joy to shave with.
It seems as though it will last a long time as I hardly dented the puck this morning.

It’s a small little puck. I’ll keep it in an old TOBS container. It suds up pretty well and provides a smooth shave with a Gillette Fusion razor. My decision to purchase was based on reviews stating that it had a good sandalwood scent. However, I found the scent to be neutral…no hint of sandalwood, or any perfume for that matter. Seemed to smell like plain, unscented soap. Maybe this one came off the wrong assembly line?
I am on the hunt for the best (in my subjective opinion) sandalwood scent (shaving cream, soap, deodorant, aftershave, etc).
