It looks great in my new kitchen. I get plenty of foam. My only issue is the sensor is very sensitive and would dispense soap when I didn’t want it. I moved it back some and it’s fine now.

    Update 07/15/2021:
    * The newer packaging has a smaller sample soap in a plastic pouch to use with the refillable canister. You get less sample soap, albeit much less environmental waste.
    * 2 of 4 units have failed, but replaced by SH with minimal hassle.
    * Some have the Simplehuman logo still silk screened in the BACK of the unit, but the upper dispenser portion can be twisted 180 degrees and the vertical soap dispense level sticker can be removed and replaced on the “was back, now front” side. I hope their QA improves after the pandemic.

TL;DR: Use the refillable soap canister with green straw to properly foam. This soap dispenser is now awesome.

    *********
3 of 3 units I had would only spurt out liquid dribbles, rather than foam. 1 unit was from Amazon, 2 directly from SimpleHuman.com. SH even sent me a replacement soap canister, but it had the same issue. All of the SH purple lavender soap canisters simply do not foam, even with multiple re-priming. Note that the pre-filled canisters are not reusable (lids do not come off).

Instead, I plugged in the green (extra foam) straw to the also-included reusable canister, and filled it with Method Free & Clear Foaming Soap. After 2 pumps to clear out the old soap, success! It has consistent, luxurious foam soap. I tried SH’s purple disposable soap canister again: dribbles. Use the reusable canister again: foam! Same behavior with the other dispenser.

FYI, this ST1057 model is SH’s 3rd generation foaming soap dispenser. Amazon also sells the ST1048 2nd gen model for $50 (as of 3/18/2020) that looks similar.

    PROS:
+ Foams great with refill canister.
+ Variable foam amount depending on your hand placement.
+ Magnetic USB charger cable design avoids water damage (but proprietary).
    + Attractive design.

    NEUTRALS:
    * Why is the SimpleHuman logo on the back of the unit, not front or top??
    * The unit–especially the lid–is lighter than expected.

    CONS:
    – Only the bottom sliver of the soap canister is visible, so it’s hard to determine the remaining amount, especially with clear soap. There should be a vertical window to the soap canister.
    – Slightest nudge will knock off the charger cable. It also does not come with a USB charger plug, but any generic one works (I don’t know about Apple’s).
    – Included prime tool (little white plastic stick) has a tag with a tutorial link… for a page that doesn’t exist.
    – Although the package also comes with a reusable canister, it’s utterly wasteful for pre-filled soap canisters to not be reusable as well.
    – Included soap does not foam!

Trying to decide whether to return this or not. It looks nice, but it only sputters the soap out in small amounts. And I do mean sputter. I have had to use the priming tool several times for it to even work. And I have made sure the soap was thin enough. This was to replace a previous plastic foaming dispenser that was powered by batteries. That unit really foamed the soap. I don’t know what simple human was thinking when they created this because it definitely doesn’t foam the soap hardly at all. I have never spent this much even at the sale price to buy something like this. And to think that people pay almost $70 when it’s not on sale is overwhelming to me. Should I return it or not. That is the question.

I purchased 3 of these soap dispensers to use at all sinks in my house. Initial setup was a breeze, the product looks great, and the priming was easy, and I charged the units fully before putting them into use. After a few days of light use (two adults and a toddler) I found that one pump wouldn’t hold a charge or respond to its power button. Another pump wouldn’t dispense foam- it would just spray solution out. I returned both units and received replacements promptly after completing some mild troubleshooting provided by the manufacturer. And now both the replacements are failing to hold charge for more than a few days- one of which isn’t indicating a charge at all after being plugged in for hours. I would not recommend this product to anyone- especially at its high price point. It’s best use to go sit and look pretty on your counter- don’t count on reliable use.

I had this pump for 3 days and then it quit working. No lights come on, will not take a charge. Will not dispense so I should’ve known better not to buy this product. I purchased it in the past and had issues with multiple units. I was hoping that they worked the bugs out since then. But that’s a huge, no. And now I have to submit a request for a refund. Pretty sure this was a prime product. And I should be able to refund it and return it like any other product silly. I have to request this feeling annoyed.

Tried this foam dispenser wishing be better than other brand had before because was about 1.5 times more expensive! But to my surprise, is not actually a foam maker but dispenses stuff like a liquid which manufacturer should be shameful about its design and/or manufacturing.

This, like all Simple Human items, is beautiful and functional. After reading all the reviews about the SH soap, I decided to go with my usual Bath and Body Works soap (especially since they now make refill-sizes). I find that regardless where I put my hand, I get the same amount of soap (a perfect amount for washing my hands). My one complaint is that the soap seems to be more liquid and not as “fluffy” coming from the SH dispenser as it is coming from the B and BW bottle. I figure the Simple Human dispenser doesn’t have as many baffles, possibly, as most foaming soap bottles. However, it is still a foam and works fine.

Just re-read the reviews and realized that to get thick foam, you have to change to the blue straw, which I did and now it’s perfect!

This is my 3rd Simple Human soap dispenser. The 1st 2 were bought around 3 years ago. One is still going strong, the 2nd slowly stopped working over the last month. I thought it was most likely the battery, so I took it apart to replace it, but when I checked it, under load, I found it was fine.
So, not being able to diagnose the problem, and thinking 3 years is a decent amount of time for most anything to last these days, I decided to replace it with the same model. I contacted Simple Human to see if they’d cover it. They couldn’t, but even though it was out of warranty, they offered me a 20% discount. I purchased this one instead. I am very happy with the dispenser and even more so with this seller. They got it to me quickly and at a really great price.
Kudos to them, and Simple Human!
