I’ve use a number of these types of products on my fine somewhat thin hair – pastes, pomades, clays, etc. This one works quite well. It’s a bit softer than most, allowing you to work it into you hair without needing to add water or pulling excessively on your hair as you work it in. It doesn’t clump too much either which is great if your hair isn’t thick. I don’t notice the smell and didn’t buy it for that reason. Matte finish. Even with my longer Covid hair (~2′), it is a quick style in the morning. I’d recommend.

I like that it’s smooth and workable. It doesn’t leave my hair sticky or hard to get a comb through. But the hold is more medium than high. And I personally don’t like the scent at all.

Defiantly lives up to its name when it says its the best fiber.
Goes in the hair really easy provides a nice firm hold, not sticky or greasy and does give alot of really nice texture, makes my hair look and feel really nice and i do recommend this product. However, i do feel like its not worth the £14 asking price, especially when you only get 50ml (2oz) if you got 75ml i’d feel differently, but for what it is £14 is too much and there are products just as good for less.
That being said i like it and it keeps for 24 Months which is very nice so i’m using this sparingly

First clay product I have used and it works great. Less sticky than Matt pomade. A little pricey but for the quality of product it is worth it to me. The smell is pleasant and not too strong.

The Smooth Viking products I have used are well made and once applied work well. The biggest issue I have is it takes some work to get the white color to blend into the hair. Some other companies blend much quicker with just as much hold ability. Would still recommend this product

This is my 2nd time ordering this one. Usually I switched up brands trying to fi d something with decent hold, shine, etc. Well I really like this one. The hold is really good and I only use a fingertip worth of it. It lasts a long time and washes out no problem. That was a issue with alot of gels/pomade with high hold, they clump up and get nasty upon washing. This one washes out with 30 seconds or so of scrubbing.
I am about to go see what other products this brand has. They made on mark on me for sure. Thanks so much for the fantastic product!

Edit 6/26/22:
So after a couple weeks of using this product, I noticed that it seems to work better on damp hair. Better yet, after you’ve rubbed it between your hands, use a little water (no more than a drop, or it will begin to wash off), and mix it between your hands again until it gets really creamy, before applying the clay through your hair. It seems to spread more evenly, and the longevity of the hold has been much better. I’ve also had an easier time combing it through using this method, and getting the look I want to last longer. Granted, the hold still isn’t as strong as they say, but it has been working better for me at least.
I’ve bumped it to 4 stars mostly because I like how it’s been making my hair feel, and using this trick has been yielding better results. Will update again if I figure out, or find any other tricks.
EDIT 6/16/22:
I reduced the star rating from a 5 to a 3 after using it for awhile. While everything in the original review still stands, I would like to add that the hold does not hold up in high humidity or sweat. While my hair didn’t fall flat, after some time, I would feel it move, and I could run my fingers through my hair as if I had nothing in it at all.
One bright side; the product still on the individual hairs assists with setting everything back in place, whether with a comb or my fingers. It also makes my hair feel soft.
If they could keep the natural ingredients and increase the hold, this would get a 5 star from me again.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
I’ve seen many reviews complain about the smell, and while the scent is its weakest point, in my opinion, it’s really not that bad. Like others have mentioned, it smells like lotion, but considering the ingredients, it makes sense. Giving the clay a light scent of something a little more masculine may do the trick (something woodsy or earthy maybe), but I don’t know how that would mess with the formula.
Seems to hold pretty good, but not the strongest. It’s pretty easy to apply too. I’ll review again in a week or so, but as of right now, I would reccomend this.

My brother uses so much different products in his hair, it’s rather ridiculous.
I have been looking for a cruelty-free, high-quality, natural styling clay for my brother to use and I believe I found it in Smooth Viking Styling Clay!
After using this product for a week, my brother won’t leave it alone.
He likes to do those pompadours and retro styles using this stuff and I am amazed at how well it keeps all day!
A little goes a long way with this product, it’s so thick you got to rub it in your hands to warm it up a bit and when you do, it becomes like a sticky liquid.
The smell reminds me of a floral Elmer’s Glue. (A clay is a clay, I suppose!) So if you are someone who doesn’t like that kinda smell, I’d recommend something else or at the very least, use a little of this because it can overwhelm you. (The first time my brother used it, when he’d walk by..I’d get a huge whiff of the stuff!)
It’s a very concentrated styling clay and despite the smell, it works wonders for getting those looks on point!
My brother had mentioned that the smell is well worth it, because he loves how well it holds his hair and how it doesn’t give off shine. The matte finish is what really sold him!
It’s Pliable and durable and the 2oz container is actually pretty generous!
I have noticed some volume in my brothers hair, as well. The texture and the thickness of the clay must create that extra va-voom!
I am impressed and so is my brother. We both have rated it the same, 5/5!

Special product for me as I wear it on my first date..But it is for short hairs..Not recommend for medium length or long length hair..Wavy or curly hair people should not use it…It’s hold is very low…U cant restyle it during day..
