This is an SPF 35 sunscreen formula that has added benefits.

It provides sun protection but also hydrates and rejuvenates skin.

But how does it accomplish this? Infused with Kinetin, a plant-based antioxidant known for its powerful anti-aging properties, it works to hydrate the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I like that I can apply this as a sunscreen and get those benefits. The SPF35 is perhaps a bit low for my area (Central FL) but it does seem to inhibit sun damage or burns from prolonged exposure (e.g. the beach). It stays waterproof for 40 minutes, so keep this in mind if you’re swimming and/or sweating.

I’m happy with the formula which is non-irritating and very effective.

I unfortunately am just getting into using spf on my face in my mid-30’s. So 30+ years worth of sun damage to my face is showing. I now use spf on my face every day and am always looking for new brands to try out, so was excited to try out this Sonrei Sea Clearly Hydrating Facial SPF 35!

First and foremost, TURN THE BOTTLE UPSIDE DOWN!!! It’s pretty hard to pump out but if you turn the bottle upside down right away, you won’t have an issue at all! I keep it stored upside down as well!

So what really got my attention on this is that it says it’s an spf, a primer AND helps reduce signs of anti-aging.

The spf part of it does work really well. It’s a clear type gel, no white cast at all. My skin definitely stays protected while wearing this and I have not experienced any sunburn while wearing this spf.

As for the primer – when I see the word “primer”, I think of a face primer like one that helps reduce the look of pores and fine lines. I do not notice any change in my pores or fine lines when applying this. It doesn’t sink in to my pores and fine lines like some spf’s tend to do, BUT it doesn’t help the appearance of them at all either. I still need to apply my normal primer – so that’s a bit of a bummer! I was hoping this would replace me having to apply a primer as well. I’m really unsure what the word “primer” means in this listing….

Then the anti-aging part of this – I personally have not seen any difference/changes to my skin at all. I have only been using for a few weeks though, so I’m not deducting a star for that part. I know skincare products take time to show the full effects. If I continue use and see any changes, I will absolutely come back and update my review.

At the end of the day, I would not order again. It is pretty thick. I have sensitive skin and am prone to breakouts and did have a few breakouts when I started using this. Also, I have a ton of other spf brands that I prefer over this one (I personally prefer a tinted spf but you can always add foundation to those that aren’t tinted), for a LOT less (this one was 80 at time of review). It’s pretty expensive for a basic spf for your face in my opinion.

So although it’s not a bad facial spf at all – I just prefer other more inexpensive ones over this one, also I do wish this was a primer as well, as it states to be.

It’s so frustrating that in 2024 sunscreen still has a white cast. I should have to put “black” in front of everything !

was super excited, then disappointed 🙁 mine didn’t come with a straw to actually suck the sunscreen to the pump (or it fell out and i obviously can’t retrieve it). Was able to solve the problem by getting a pump from another product but the lid doesn’t fit anymore 😔. The actual sunscreen smells a little odd lol- it’s not overpowering but can’t really go unnoticed.

Product comes in a large container but half of that is the pump mechanism. And that didn’t work. The product is thick and not light. Don’t waste your money

First, the packaging was carefully and thoughtfully done. The product was wrapped in bubble wrap. It has its own “case” which matches the product (thought that was cool and fun).

Second, I’m aware that the sunscreen is in an airless bottle to prevent oxidation and deterioration as well as to avoid introduction of bacteria. There are clear instructions on how to pump the product out from the bottle; however, it may have been due to the shipping and handling since my pump bottle does not work properly. It is kind of a pain to continue pumping and only tiny bit of the sunscreen comes out. I’d rather the squeezing tube type at this point (lol).

Aside from the pump issue, the sunscreen feels great on the skin. It actually reminds me of the Trader Joe’s clear sunscreen, but way much better. It does not feel as if it clogs my pores (the Trader Joe’s one does). It leaves a really nice matte finish after application. It is also water resistant which is great for swimmers. In general, I am not a fan of clear sunscreen because I cannot see whether I have applied on certain spots of my skin (lol). Don’t get me wrong, this sunscreen is great, but I would only use it if I’m in a hurry and don’t want to blend out the white residue that would only appear when using the traditional sunscreen. I don’t wear makeup but have used primer before, and so, I can already tell this sunscreen can be a perfect primer (with SPF 35, which is a plus). Talking about the SPF, I usually go for SPF 50, but after a few research, SPF 35 and SPF 50 don’t have much difference in the % of UBV rays protection. Therefore, I am fine with this sunscreen being SPF 35.

Lastly, the price is a bit high. I suppose the price was determined based on the transparency of the sunscreen, the ingredients they use to produce the sunscreen which are environmentally friendly and also help rejuvenate the skin, and the fact that it can also be used as a primer. Honestly, I did not know about this brand before getting this sunscreen. I’d say it is worth a try (if money is not a problem lol).

    Overall, recommend this product!

This is the nesting doll of sunscreens. After multiple videos and rereading instruction, I finally found the small hole by accident. It comes in a paper package, to protect the glass package, and if you unscrew the glass you will find the actual container; a small plastic tube with the magic hole in the bottom. This “push pop” level pump technology is annoying, and I don’t really care for the petroleum jelly feel it leaves on my face all day, but it is a sunscreen I guess.
