I’ve owned a Sonicare toothbrush for years, and for the past 4 years I owned an OralB electric toothbrush of which the past 3 years was an OralB iO (a sonic toothbrush). Both Sonicare and OralB were ridiculously large devices and had apps to monitor how well you brushed your teeth (I ended-up not using apps after a few months because I don’t need another device monitoring me), and the OralB iO frustrated me because it was messy to use.

I took a chance on the SURI Sustainable Sonic Toothbrush. I was immediately impressed by the minimal and thoughtful packaging and product design. The housing for the actually toothbrush mechanism has to be close to 75% slimmer than that of a the Sonicare and is 50% slimmer than the OralB iO…think about that for a minute, if you will. The Sonicare and OralB size and weight were never much of a problem for me, but they just seemed overly big and heavy. Now SURI comes along and makes one lighter (without sacrificing durability, as far as I can tell) and slimmer, and it’s amazing. It’s like cross between Quip and Sonicare. Even the charging base takes up much less counter space than the other two brands’ chargers; it’s like the designers at SURI realized that we don’t need all that extra plastic to help up brush our teeth, and they’re right. The travel case is also much less bulky than the other two brands and I’m thinking I might actually start traveling with a sonic toothbrush for a change. I was pleasantly surprised that the case also charges and has a built-in UV light, which I was not expecting; nice touch. The toothbrush has two modes of cleaning and it runs about as quiet if not quieter than other sonic brands. To top things off, the SURI sonic toothbrush head is recyclable in some areas, and has a small mount with a magnet to affix to the bathroom mirror or wall allowing the toothbrush to be stored off the counter; fantastic.

    To summarize:
    – slim toothbrush housing
    – lighter weight
    – cleaner design/less plastic everything
    – charger takes up less counter space
    – wall/mirror mounting option
    – minimal design travel charging case with UV light
    – two cleaning modes
    – one less app to add to your phone
    – sustainable/recyclable toothbrush head

It is a well thought out take on the electric toothbrush which eliminates most of the problems of cheaper models. I have always been put off by the noise of the motors and short charge/discharge cycle. Let’s be honest, a high-pitched whirring isn’t the most wonderful sound ever produced. night.

Feels very premium, packed beautifully, nice and quiet. A nice weight to it and not overly large. I like how the body is not cheap plastic. Cleans really well and overall glad I made the purchase. Quite powerful, the ‘polish’ function might be for daredevils only! There was no regret at spending 70-80 on a toothbrush when unpacking it, which could easily have been the case if it felt cheap. It is a brilliant product!

There’s a couple of little niggles that may or may not bother you. I don’t care for the 30-second pause. The brush auto-pauses for a split second over the two-minute cleaning cycle to tell you to move to another area of the mouth. Maybe it can be overridden, but it is not a feature I really want or need by default. Another is the otherwise lovely travel/storage case. It has a built-in UV-LED sterilising function. Excellent idea. But it needs to be plugged into power to operate. Couldn’t a small battery or capacitor have been placed in the case somewhere to eliminate this need, or power itself taken from the brush? A design choice, but travelling would be made much easier, self contained and wire free if this had been considered, because the greatest feature of the brush is it lasts for SO long without a recharge you forget it is ‘electric’. Maybe something for a v2?

Still, it has a superb slim design, has a premium feel, is quiet, and offers a dentist-clean feeling after use. I can’t imagine being disappointed with its performance or its neat and modern looks. Easily a five star product.

After using my toothbrush for a few months, it wouldn’t turn on one morning. It’s fully charged, but pressing the button wouldn’t turn it on. A few days later it turned itself on and wouldn’t turn off for a few hours. It did this by itself. This is really dangerous as could indicate an unstable battery. Ironically, the battery lasts a long time, weeks and weeks, so i cant just wait for it to run down over the day. I have been advised to take it to my local recycling center that accepts battery products as this is a fire hazard. My husband is also having issues with his, it just won’t turn on anymore. I will stick to the brands that know what they are doing, have quality control and do it all at a reasonable price point.

I love the green color, how slim this design is, and how quiet the brush is while using it. The battery life is no joke. I feel like my Philips Sonicare did a slightly better job cleaning but that’s also a significantly more expensive, louder, bulkier brush. It’s very easy to use, but I do wish the button were two buttons for brush and polish rather than having to click through brush, polish, off with the one button.

This is hands-down the best toothbrush I’ve ever owned.

Minimalistic, thoughtfully designed, and effective. It cleans your teeth very very well and the toothbrush itself is very clean. The water doesn’t drip down and create a mess like other toothbrushes (oral-b).

I tried a $50 Oral-B before this and had to throw it out because it was so messy and ineffective. No matter what you did, it would drip toothpaste-water down the side and dry … gross.

There’s no need for 5 different settings like others have – the two are great. Battery life is amazing, as long as you wait until it needs to be recharged. If you constantly recharge the battery, it won’t function as expected. This goes for many rechargeable devices, so no surprise there. After the first charge – it lasted past the 45 days described.

Do yourself a favor and buy the SURI, you won’t be disappointed.

This product does a great job cleaning my teeth. I like the case for travel, and its functionality is a plus.

However, although you need to plug in the case (Is-C connector), to do the cleaning, a separate charger is required to charge the brush. It is not a standard fitting and it concerns me that it would be difficult to replace if lost or damaged.

I have had this toothbrush for month and a bit now, and was woken up at night by the toothbrush’s vibration sounds in the bathroom. It turned itself on. I turned it off, and it just kept turning itself back on.

I never have altered or damaged the toothbrush in any way for it to do this. Upon googling this, it seems to be a common issue with sonic toothbrushes. Will attempt to ring Amazon to try and process a claim on this, hopefully with a positive outcome.

  8. feedback is the breakfast of champions

After a couple of months the toothbrush no longer charged, the connection between the toothbrush and the charger no longer worked. Rubbish product.

  9. Nawwaf

There are many regular electric toothbrushes out there made of plastic, and have lots of cool features that no one will probably use. This electric toothbrush is made with quality in mind, and you can charge it with USB type C, so it’s really convenient.

I love this toothbrush. I bought it to replace a very expensive Oral B that I just hated. This one is fairly quiet, is comfortable in my mouth, and is a beautiful shade of green. The charge lasts a very long time. I usually put it in a mirror mounted holder that has UVC, a heater and a fan to dry and sanitize, and the brush heads have held up well to this. I charge it every few weeks.

It does a great job, and easily gets to everywhere that I need it to in my mouth, which the Oral B had a problem with.

The best part – the magnetic brush heads hold TIGHT to the base. Normally, after brushing my teeth, I remove the brush head, and wipe down the spike that comes up from the base to help prevent mold and mildew. After using this for a few days I realized that I had forgotten to do this. After brushing my teeth, I pulled the head off, and it was bone dry underneath. Unlike most electric toothbrushes, there is no gap between the head and the body for water and toothpaste to collect in. MIRACLE!

I highly recommend this brush. At this point, I view the fact that the battery can be replaced as a bonus for the future. The performance is the reward for today.
