Absolutely love this product. I used henna for decades due to allergic reactions to hair color and while it worked, it was messy, smelly and inconsistent. This color is a dream! My hair looks great!! I found a stylist who puts it on and I go home and wait 1.5-2 hours then rinse in shower. Easy!!! I could (and have) put it on myself but struggle with the back. Just easier for someone else to do it. Highly recommend!!

I’ve been using Surya henna in 3 colors ; dark brown, red, and copper for many years. I mix in variations to suit the time of year and always get compliments on my long hair for both color and healthy shine whether mixed to darker auburn or gradually to lighter copper red for summer. Without harmful additives like peroxide and others, my hair always looks natural, healthy, shiny and youthful. It is so easy to mix and use that roots are never a giveaway so people are always commenting on what they think is my natural color. I am always happy to tell the truth and what I use because everybody should be this happy with your hair!

Very easy to use. As instructions indicate I did not use a comb to apply as it will remove the lotion.. I just used my ” basting brush” and the third time I used this my hair came out beautifully. The first two times I used a comb so it did not cover the white well. I did not want to get the lotion on my scalp as I have allergies. I was worried it would leave a line. It spead easily and “roots” were still nicely covered. I recommended this product to my sister. I still have enough in the bottle to do one more touch up application for a total of 4 applications. My hair is very long but I use it mostly around the crown of my hair where I have patches of white.. it covers it well if you allow it to dry completely in about 2 or 3 hours in dry conditions of 35% humidity. It matches my original hair color perfectly. I waited several months after 3 applications before I decided to recommend this product. I’m very satisfied.

Brown water! Should be creamy and easy to apply.

I have been using this for over a year. This product rescued me from hair dye! Despite what others say this does cover gray. You simply need to leave it on for the appropriate amount of time and start with an hour if you have a lot of gray. Once weekly I place the cream on my hairline and part. Then I comb some down through the top hair where I had frosted highlights. I place the plastic bag over my head and fasten it with a hair clip above my forehead. Then I puts my glasses on over the plastic bag, and go about my business. Until I got used to it it seemed like a laborious task but I’ve honed it to a fine science! I have curly frizzy hair. I’m 65 yr old female with a lot of stubborn gray. It’s necessary for me to wash after application and not just rinse. Then I use a leave-in conditioner of any kind. Most often I dilute a conditioner that isn’t intended for leaving in, and comb or run my fingers through my hair. Then air dry. No frizz and beautiful shine!

I decided to switch to henna for hair color after a decade of using Naturtint. I realized it isn’t sustainable and wanted a PPD-free alternative. I have colored my hair using regular henna in the past, but hated the process – mixing it, leaving it overnight, and then keeping it on for hours the next day. I disliked the mess it made in my bathroom and the smell felt very strong too. Surya Brasil is the only premixed henna cream I’m aware of that also covers your roots if done correctly. A few tips/suggestions if you’re a noob who’s still figuring things out:

    – leave it on for at least 2 hours if trying to cover grey hair
    – use a heated cap to cover your head after coloring, the heat helps the henna color bind to your hair. I bought a microwavable flaxseed cap from Amazon.
    – don’t wash your hair with shampoo, only rinse off color on the day off.
    – apply hair oil the next specifically formulated for prolonging henna color – I bought one by Khadi from Amazon. Keep the hair oil overnight and shampoo the next day.
    – shampoo no often than 2 times a week.

When I first started using Surya Brasil, I had to color every week. After reading up and using the hair cap and hair oil, I now need to color every 2 weeks, and I’m trying to make that 3 weeks.

Overall, I’m very pleased and highly recommend Surya Brasil.

  7. Herbman

Works well when I used it as a touch-up four weeks after doing a treatment with “Black” which came out a very nice dark brown with my hair (medium to light brown with quite a bit of gray before treatment).

Comes in a liquid form and appreciate that it has no chemicals. I have ordered both the black and dark brown and for me, the colors work out great. Easy to apply on hair. Gloves and cap were included. Just don’t plan on saving any if you have any color left over, because there is no way to store any left over. I have hair down to my waist, and one bottle is enough for touch up of roots and to spread down to ends. Because of my grays, I do leave this on an extra 20 mins then what the instructions say. Leaves my hair soft and manageable.
