  1. Prime Mom

Sometime last year I’d developed an addiction to SKII. I love SKII, I hate the price. THIS is absolutely magical for my skin, and has replaced it’s more expensive predecessor. The value is real, at least for me. It’s worked basically miracles on my pores.

    Key Ingredients per InciDecoder:
    Anti-acne: Niacinamide
Antioxidant: Aronia Melanocarpa Fruit Extract, Lycium Chinense Fruit Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract
    Cell-communicating ingredient: Niacinamide
Skin brightening: Niacinamide, Morus Alba Root Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract
    Skin-identical ingredient: Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate
Soothing: Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Allantoin, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract

I couldn’t tell you which ingredients it is my skin is in love with, but this is the most obviously beneficial skin product (along with aforementioned) I’ve found yet to date. I have pretty sensitive 40-something y/o skin prone to going red (rosacea-y) and this returns me to my pale undead pallor. Works well as a part of my daytime stack under makeup, not sticky and doesn’t pill up, no matter which or how much primer I tack on over it. Plays well with literally all of the stuff I smear on my face.

The packaging on this is pretty great (I’d prefer a pump but I don’t mind the drippy top situation), really cute. Looking forward to trying other products from this line once I hit empty on a few other products.

I have always wanted to try SK-II’s essence, but it is really pricey. This product has the same first ingredient, galactomyces ferment filtrate, and is much more reasonably priced! It’s still not cheap, but I think it is worth it for the superstar ingredients that this contains. It has 5% niacinamide, which is my absolute favorite skincare ingredient, and a lot of interesting antioxidants like red algae and polyglutamic acid. It is free of added fragrance and has a neutral scent. It also doesn’t have alcohol or parabens.

I have been using this on my normal but “mature” skin for a week now, and I notice that it leaves my skin much softer, as well as smooth and balanced. I use it at night after cleansing and toning. I sometimes skip the toner, but it is recommended in the instructions. Then I follow with a moisturizer or a serum and moisturizer. It’s a lot of steps and a bit more than I have time for in the day, but I love the glass skin look and have been trying to take better care of my skin.

The essence comes in a beautiful light blue to purplish pink gradient glass bottle. It is made in Korea and lasts 12 months after opening. I recommend it. This is the second product I’ve tried from this brand, and I love both.

Also, in case it’s hard to see in my photo, here’s the ingredient list: Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Aspergillus Ferment Extract Filtrate, Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, Propanediol, Niacinamide, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf (Aloe) Extract, Ellagic Acid, Aronia Melanocarpa (Black Chokeberry) Fruit Extract, Polyglutamic Acid, Glycerin, Corallina Officinalis (Red Algae) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Morus Alba (White Mulberry) Root Extract, Allantoin, Ocimum Sanctum (Holy Basil) Leaf Extract, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Fruit Extract, Rubus Coreanus (Korean blackberry) Fruit Extract, Lycium Chinense (Goji berry) Fruit Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Betaine, Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Fruit Extract, Aristotelia Chilensis (Maqui) Fruit Extract, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai palm) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Flower Extract, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Gardenia Jasminoides (Cape Jasmine) Fruit Extract, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Melia Azadirachta (Chinaberry) Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta (Chinaberry) Flower Extract, Xanthan Gum, Coccinia Indica (Ivy Gourd) Fruit Extract, Portulaca Oleracea (Duckweed) Extract, Water, Methylpropanediol

This Then I Met You The Giving Essence is easy and fast for my skin to absorb, and also leaves my skin feeling hydrated. I don’t feel dry on my face for a while even if I apply the essence only after washing my face. The pink color is lovely. The smell is light and enjoyable. I haven’t experienced any irritation/allergies yet since I used it a month ago. The package is beautiful but really heavy. So far so good. I will give this essence 4 stars and recommend it.

I wasn’t very familiar with Essence prior to getting this, so I did look it up online. You use essence after cleansing & toning. This one comes in a glass bottle. It doesn’t dispense much liquid out at a time, so I have had to shake it a few times to get what I think is enough to apply to my face. I’m glad it doesn’t pour out quickly, but I do wish it would dispense a little more at a time than what it does. It seems to be a little thicker than toners. I don’t notice any scent or smell to it. It is non-irritating to my sensitive skin. After using this, I continue with my regular skincare routine and use serum and moisturizer. I haven’t seen any difference yet, but I am not always very observant with things like this. Then one day later on I will see improvement or something and attribute it to whatever the newest product is.

This Then I Met You The Giving Essence – Hydrating and Brightening Essense for Face with Niacinamide + Fermented Ingredients – Vegan, Clean Skincare (3.38 fl oz) comes sealed. Essense comes after toning in a skincare routine. This essence has a reducer on the spout so that only a drop pours out at a time. It doesn’t take very many drops for my whole face.

There is a slight thickness to this pinkish liquid, and it absorbs into my skin quite easily. I find that it feels pleasant and doesn’t have a strong scent.

I feel like this essence has helped keep my skin soft and moisturized in winter weather. It is not cheap, but it is a nice essence if you use essence in your skincare routine.
