This was the best thing 16 years ago when I was so dry from Accutane that wiping a towel on my skin instead of patting would cause abrasions–this made me feel dewy, really locks in moisture. My dermatologist at the time gave me samples of this and CeraVe, and I have tried that one many times over the years. Theraplex is the easy choice and I continue to prefer it.
Theraplex is the only lotion that doesn’t seem to give me closed comedones (white heads) or malassezia folliculitis (“fungal acne”), and the price has come down considerably over the years. I now use over the counter Differin daily, and will use this in conjunction until I am a baby faced granny.
Everyone’s skin is different, but my experience with this has been so positive that I would recommend giving it a try to just about anyone.
Let me also recommend silk pillowcases to my fellow dry skin people.

I began having problems with breakouts and dry skin in my late 30’s. Thick creams helped with dry skin but made me break out worse. Light moisturizers did nothing to help with dry skin. My esthetician recommended this and gave me a sample to try. It’s so lightweight that I questioned her about it being a heavy duty moisturizer and asked if I needed something thicker. She said that it was deceptively moisturizing. Trust her and try it. I’m so glad I did.
I was so pleasantly surprised. It’s worked like a dream. It doesn’t irritate my skin and keeps it moisturized. I have been a die hard user of this moisturizer for years. I use it on my face, neck and chest. An 8oz bottle lasts me several months – a little goes a long way!!
Also, I was pleasantly surprised that my esthetician recommended something that was reasonably priced. When I went other places, they tried to sell me creams and moisturizers that were crazy expensive…like over $40 per ounce products.

My wife and I were introduced to the original Theraplex by a dermatologist we were both seeing. It was amazingly effective for dry hands common among older folks and those with blood glucose issues. But an 8 ounce tub is about $30. This 8 ounce pump was a third to a fourth that price and is very, very close to exactly as effective. The pump bottle is easier to use than a tub with a threaded cap. When applied, it is absorbed rapidly into the skin. Within a minute or two of initial application I find my hands no longer feel the least bit greasy but the emollient effect is substantial and lasting. My wife does complain that when I use it in the car it leaves the steering wheel slippery, so mind that. I guess it doesn’t soak into fake leather. I will be buying it again when this runs out. I might still buy the tub version to keep by my bedside, but this stuff works well and is an excellent value.

Excellent been using vanicream and Cerave as I have acne Rosacea . Been using this 4 days the spots are going. I think Cerave and vanicream were causing the spots. So pleased someone recommended this to me .

I have eczema and my skin can be very dry. The lotion is very good, non-greasy and fast-acting, however at the price, I would have expected a better delivery method as the pump mechanism is woeful
