As of the date I write this review, it may 25, 2023.

Essentially this product of 1.7 ounces/50ml expires in a months time. I’m still with my return window

    What to do???

I only use mineral sunscreens because the chemical ones give me migraines. This is an effective mineral sun screen that also boosts my moisturizer efforts. It has no fragrance and no “sunscreen stink”….it does have a mild earthy scent of the ingredients, very light. Has worked well for me both as an SPF 30 sunscreen and as a moisturizer. Feels good on, not sticky or tacky on me.

I do want to point out that this is a tinted product which I had not known when I selected it. It’s a light tan color. I’m very pale so it matched my skin tones well enough but I have no idea how this will work in on someone with more robust, rich skin tones than I have. So that is a concern I wanted to point out. Otherwise it’s a home run for me.,

I like the way this product feels on my skin and no “chalky white” color. It’s slightly tinted, which I like and the ingredients are safer than most sunscreens…..However, $65 for 1.7 ounces….OUCH! That is a big price for a small amount of product.

I wanted to find a daily sunscreen that didn’t have harmful chemicals. So i went to EWG and tried 5+ of the highest rated sunscreens. This one was by far the best for my skin! Not sticky or greasy (unless i put too much on). Smells great, blends well – it’s everything i was looking for in a daily sunscreen!

WOW! I am very impressed with this sunscreen. It has some phenomenal ingredients. I love that it has a multifunction of acting as both a sunscreen and a barrier to protect my face on two necessary levels. I’ve been pretty loyal to shiseido sunscreen and this is a step above it! The one down side is that this sun screen is not water resistant. So If you plan to go swimming you do have to use a different sunscreen on top. That would be my only complaint.

This sunscreen is slightly tinted straight out of the bottle but as I apply it it does blend and even out with my natural skin tone. I don’t know if this is technically a color matching serum but, I can say it did blend and even out a nice subtle natural gloss across my skin. I think the tint is to prevent the shite sun cast and to just subtly even out skin tone &/or redness. This sunscreen is pretty light weight and it didn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or looking greasy. I appreciate that is also noncomedogenic; meaning its not blocking my pores or causing breakout or millia.

All in all I am very happy with this sun screen barrier formula. I feel like its a very effective sun screen and environmental protection barrier. It gives my skin a nice natural glowing look without feeling weighted down in products. I appreciate the hydrating and peptide ingredients. I do wish this sunscreen was either water resistant or that there is a water resistant form of this sunscreen. Other than that this is a fantastic 2 in 1 sun screen and barrier serum! I would absolutely highly recommend this sunscreen! ☀️

This True Botanicals SPF 30 has 19% zinc oxide, a mineral or physical UV blocker. I’m not going to go pro or con on chemical vs. physical other than to say zinc oxide is extremely ubiquitous and well-tolerated by most users, especially those with oily, acne-prone skin.

User – I’m in my 40s, a natural redhead with fair skin who has worn all manner of sun protection (cheap and expensive). Sunscreen doesn’t have to be pricy to be good. It simply needs to provide good UVA and UVB coverage and be pleasant enough to apply often. The key is to wear it regularly, rain or shine, year-round, not just in the warmer months. You need to wear more than what comes in your makeup too. SPF must be applied to all exposed areas like the hairline, neck, chest, ears, lips, around the eyes, etc., not just the forehead and cheeks. Not dabbed on. Slathered.

The True Botanicals one rates at an SPF30, which I consider the bare minimum I’ll go rating-wise.
The lotion has a lightweight, smooth texture and good spreadability and absorption. Leaves a hint of a sticky, semi-matte finish. Hydrating. It has a peachy hue but is not tinted enough to blur or conceal discoloration or blemishes. No white cast, though.

It smells like manuka honey, even though it doesn’t appear to have added fragrance. Plant extracts include pea, rice, milk thistle, bitter orange, green tea, jojoba, and sea buckthorn. I patch-tested this on my arm because I have extremely reactive skin (rosacea). So far, so good. Alas, the sweet honey smell lingers and would not be something I’d want to get a whiff of all day long (applied to my face). This is also $65 for 1.7oz, which is ridiculously expensive for a zinc-oxide sunscreen. Again, this is a very common ingredient and can be found in equally good drugstore sunscreens. Here, we’re paying more for the True Botanicals brand name.

True Botanicals Skin Barrier Sun Shield SPF 30 Mineral Face Sunscreen is one of the most pleasing sunscreens I’ve used for my dry, sensitive skin. It has a very light but pleasant smell from ingredients (no fragrance) and causes no irritation. It has a good pump dispenser, and the sunscreen spreads nicely and soaks in well. It feels similar to a lightweight moisturizer and adds noticeable moisture and comfort yet isn’t greasy. For some, this could replace a moisturizer, but I apply it after my cream. I haven’t gotten color from the sun when I’ve applied this before spending time outside.

This sunscreen has a tint I’d describe as a fair shade as I have light skin with an olive hue, and the tint is lighter than my skin. It’s sheer and blends in easily so the color disappears quickly on me. For me, the tint eliminates the issue of a white cast from the zinc oxide and also tones down (but doesn’t cover) redness, which is great for when I’m not wearing makeup. The tint seems neutral like it should universally help with the white cast issue, but I can only be certain about my own experience and can’t speak to how it performs on darker skin. Love it. 5 stars.
