Bought this to replace the same trimmer that I used for over ten years. Like the upgrades to this one. The charger cord has been updated and the foil shaver is much bigger than the one from ten years ago. It is a very good trimmer and has all the attachments I need for my beard, nose, ears and all the areas of my body that need grooming. I have used Wahl trimmers for forty years and will continue to use them going forward.

It’s easy to change the trimmer head, for narrow precision work or full-width trimming. It’s easy to change the individual length guides, to do a mustache at 1/4″, side beard at 3/8″, and bottom beard at 1/2″. The longest length guide is 1/2″ but you could experiment with the variable guides and see if they hold constant or not. I haven’t tried yet. It’s actually better than I expected, and a consistent accurate beard trim now takes only a few minutes.

I’ve tried many beard and grooming related products, but there are only two electric devices that are staples of my toolbox: the Wahl Balding Trimmer (for the closest cropped scalp available) and this beautiful beast of a trimmer. The fact that I chose both independently for their performance and quality, yet both are Wahl is not lost on me. Who’s higher-end lines are renown for their quality builds and druable high-performing motors, and adding a lithium Ion battery to the mix doesn’t change that.
The LI Plus is simply a superior trimmer. Performance is excellent, battery life and charge speed are well above average, and it will hold a charge with (almost daily use) across 10 days.
The kit itself provides a great deal of range in terms of guards, which are all Wahl standard guards. The only downside is that the included Dopp bag is basically worthless in terms of quality- one of VERY few disappointments in this buy.
Quality is fantastic, and the build has very few weaknesses- the handle’s stainless finish can be a bit slick if your hands are wet, and there have been a few instances where I tried to remove the guard, and took the blade with it- and those are minor overall.
The stand and charger fit easily in my dopp kit, but the stand isn’t required for charging, so leave it at home while travelling.
Is there anything that could be improved upon? Yes- the charger is a custom-ended piece, which means if you lose or forget your charging cord, finding a replacement will be difficult- I would LOVE to see Wahl outfit this with a USB-C ending, which, combined with a light knurl of the handle, would make this trimmer just about perfect.
All-in-all, the Wahl Lithium Ion Plus beard trimmer is one of the best trimmers on the market.
This is a staple of my personal grooming kit, and is considered an essential for me.

Many things to like. Only complaint is the on off switch is hard to operate, could be my large fingers. Comes with large amount off attachments, including shaving head and a very small trimmer head.

Old school, but with modern technology. Battery lasts, blades are sharp and smooth, the collection of clippers more than enough, nice and smooth trimming even for non close shaving. I totally recommend it

I bought this as a father’s day gift for my boyfriend. It works extremely well so far. He really loves it. He says it is easy to use and the clips adjusts easily. It is not super noisy. He did wish they had a bigger sized clip but the other accessories it came with works wells. It charges fast. Great product for the price.

I bought this in 2020, and the botton broke off within a year. Bought another in 2021, and the button broke off within a year. Passing on another 2022 purchase.
I keep a beard, so only used these every 4 days at MAX when really keeping it clean. I was especially careful with the second one, no travel, used intermittently, always sprayed clean with barber’s Clipper Care, and no drops or falls (by avoiding the stand it comes with). Guess that’s why I’m so miffed that it still broke, and in the same way/place.
Worked decently well before they both broke, I don’t want to lie. Less catching on hair than other trimmers. But, breakages totally aside, a trimmer is only as good as the guards, and these are cheap and easily bent. The short guards work better, though the difference in distance from the tip of the blade to the tip of the guard, and the bottom of the blade to the bottom of the guard, mean that they cut at different hights with the same guard on depending on the angle you hold. The blades longer than 1/2″ are unreliable, and I need 3-4 passes on any line to lift hairs to cut evenly as the guard combs have very wide teeth, allowing a lot of hair to pass between. The stand is very light and thin stainless steel, so is easily knocked over as the trimmer makes it quite top heavy. This is especially true while charging as the included cable is heavier than the stand, pulling it over with the weight and bends of the cable itself. This happened with the first a lot. The trimmer head even broke from it tipping over after a while, but I don’t blame drop breaks on the manufacturer. The second was never dropped however, and broke in the same way.
What it did do well, was trim close without nicking the skin. Not as close as an elecrtic shaver, and cuts to about a 5 o’clock shadow level. But, it doesnt nick skin because the trimmer teeth are sharp but very close, and for someone with sensitive skin that’s a bigger bonus.
All in all, not worth the price to me as a repeat buyer. Sure, maybe I’m unreasonably rough on it or maybe just unlucky, but these this sure seems like designed failure to me as it’s the only exposed part that’s not metal and it happend in the same way, in the same place, within the same time frame, across very different care conditions.

So far I am really enjoying this. Seems a bit expensive, but I caught it on sale, here at Amazon. It has a very solid feel in my hand, high quality, and really seems to work well with my beard etc. So yeah, I am enjoying it quite a bit. It does pretty much anything you can imagine. I will even be using it for hair cuts! I would buy again.

I have been using this trimmer for over a year now and have some words to share. The good: feels extremely premium and cuts very well, lots of attachments included and holds a good charge for me. The ugly: firstly the blade literally chips apart and will leave small pointed edges which do cause pulling (I haven’t ever dropped mine and I am missing like THREE of the blade guards or whatever), sometimes legit just turning the thing on takes every bit of my finger strength.. I don’t know what it is but sometimes it just doesn’t want to be used it seems, and lastly taking the blade off and the attachments are just weirdly difficult and almost flimsy.
That has been my experience with the chipped blade being the number 1 issue for me. I don’t know if I want to spend the money to replace the head or just buy a different brand altogether.
