I find these to be gentle on the hair unlike the little rubber bands used for braids. I have fine hair that breaks when using a rubber/plastic band. These come out easily, and have a good amount of stretch but don’t break, even when my cats chew on them.
Also, if your cat steals these away like mine do, you don’t have to worry (for a while) because you have a a whole bag of elastics left!

I started using these instead of the tiny elastic hair ties that would get stuck in my hair and cause a lot of breakage. These are super soft and gentle, and while you can definitely get them stuck in your hair if you try hard enough, they’re usually good at keeping my hair in place without causing breakage. They’re obviously not quite as discreet as the tiny elastics, but for the hairstyles I do that isn’t an issue!

These hair ties do not seem to be made for very curly hair. I love that when you put them on they stay in the same place for days and even weeks, even after swims. However, when you go to take them out, even if I put the hair ties on the same day with my very curly 4C, I almost always have to cut the hair tie or cut several strands my hair. Because it seems like my hair is using the hair ties, like they were trellises.
