Youth To The People Superfood Skin Drip Smooth + Glow Barrier Face Serum Review
When I first noticed this product something about the page made me think it was probably just for young women.  I remember thinking that the ingredients such as kale, spinach, broccoli and green tea (among others) just didn’t sound “strong” enough for my 72 year old skin plus as usual in most cosmetics ads all the women look so very young.  I didn’t see retinol and other “heavy duty” ingredients I am more used to using although when I saw niacinamide that is what made me decide to try this serum.  I’m not super happy with how this product is packaged.  My serum was enclosed in a nice enough cosmetic box with the usual instructions, ingredients and address information but there wasn’t any kind of seal to let me know if the box had been previously opened. I looked for and didn’t see an expiration date but all product printing seems too small to me now.  Then I removed the bottle and still didn’t see an expiration date and the bottle didn’t have a safety seal on it.  Years ago I wouldn’t have thought a thing about not having a safety seal but nowadays I am really more comfortable with one.  But everything looked ok so I tried it.

I waited until after showering to use this for the first time and was surprised at not only how much I liked how this felt on my face but how it made by face look after it dried in a minute or so.  It actually did make my face look dewy and that is unexpected at my age.  I really like this serum.  There was’t any kind of unpleasant reaction to this product. My skin felt moisturized but I mainly like how my skin appears when this is applied to my face.  I very seldom wear makeup any more because it usually causes me more issues than it benefits me so having a good moisturizer is even more important to me and this serum seems perfect so far for my very mature skin.  This serum is in a pump type bottle which I do appreciate.  It seems more hygienic to me and is easy and I don’t have to worry about spills if I accidentally knock it over while  I’m using it.  There is a very faint fragrance but I had to unscrew the lid to finally get a whiff of any.  I didn’t notice any fragrance when I applied it but I did notice fragrance is listed in the ingredients so I had to go back and try to find it and it is very faint but pleasant.

I love Youth To The People as a brand, I’ve yet to use a product from them that I have not liked. I have an extensive skincare routine, so it is difficult for me to isolate the effectiveness of this product. I also generally am of the belief that you need to use something consistently over time to really measure what kind of results you’re getting. As far as I have experienced relative to many of the other products I have tested, this is a high-quality serum! It works well with my prescription tretinoin (if that is a concern to you). In 2024, it seems like all skin care is having the fragrance stripped out of it – which is to say, I APPRECIATE that there is still a light fragrance to this product. For me, it enhances the overall experience, which is almost equitably important to the effectiveness of the product (for me) – skincare is my self-care. Anywho, so I love the tiny bit of fragrance, and I also love the packaging. I love when I am able to display my skincare on the counter! A very light and hydrating serum, that is quick to absorb so that other skincare products may be layered on top.

I would recommend this product, as well as other products from this brand. Can also be purchased at Sephora.

This serum is moisturizing and gives you a subtle glow. I am using this at night before bed so the glowy aspect isn’t as important for me. This serum feels light, my skin feels like it can breathe and feels comfortable. I woke up in the morning and my skin still felt like it had some moisture. I am using this in the summer to fall transition weather so I’m not entirely sure how it will do in cold winters. You may need an extra pump for a bigger moisture boost. I did take a look at the ingredients list and did notice the added coloring (CI77288/Chromium Oxide Greens) which I see is EWG certified as safe but still feels like it is unnecessary. I know the green color is supposed to make it look “healthy” and like vegetables (kale) but I definitely would have preferred if it wasn’t added. I also noticed the added fragrance as listed in the ingredients. It does have a light scent, not overwhelming, but again, would’ve been even better if it wasn’t included. Overall this feels like a nice serum to use but they could have “cleaned up” the ingredients list even more. I don’t have the most sensitive of skins but I do tend to gravitate towards cleaner ingredients with the least amount of unnecessary “stuff”.
