I wanted some travel soap to do hand washing on trip to Africa. This is perfect. It was a bigger bar than expected so I cut it in half. It suds nicely, has a little bit of a weird smell but it doesn’t last long, and rinses easily. We were in the bush and it was so dusty, a few changes of water and it rinsed clean. I will probably end up using it at home for hand washing as well!

I’ve been using this for about 3 years now, mostly for my beauty blender/sponges. It removes ALL products from any sponge I’ve used it on (which is a lot of diff brands as I’m not too picky) including cream blushes which are common to stain sponges. I guess it makes sense now that I think about it, as it’s a laundry soap! 😉 I use it on some of my harder to clean makeup brushes, mainly foundation and powder ones that get caked up in product. I don’t use it on my eyeshadow brushes since I never put those directly under any water which is needed to rinse the soap out. But it works great on the bigger ones. I prefer this 10x over dish soap. Dish soap does “work” per say, but nowhere near the way this does. I always find dish soap is really difficult to rinse out of the sponge and often doesn’t remove the product fully.

This is how I use it to clean sponges: First, I put the bar of soap under the faucet for a split second to get the surface damp. Then I get the sponge completely soaked in water and I DON’T wring it out (this is key IMO for easier/quicker rinsing). Then rub against the bar of soap on all the spots that have product and immediately wring, rinse and repeat until the water runs clear. Continue this process and your sponge will be spiffy and clean!

The product is so gentle and very lightly scented you hardly even smell it on the sponge. Esp if you have aversion to stronger scents, as I definitely do. It’s pleasant and super light. Also have never noticed any skin irritation from it at all. I break out somewhat easy so I know this definitely has never caused that in all this time!

Using it the way I have, one bar of soap lasted me a year this last time since it was during the pandemic & I wasn’t wearing makeup anywhere near as often as I used to. The bar before that one probably lasted me a good 6 months at LEAST. I still have a couple tiny pieces I’m using though. For the price you absolutely cannot go wrong!

I use bar soap to make my own laundry detergent. I have 3 boys and the laundry is sometimes an absolute mess. We are always have a ton to do and most of it is extra dirty and stinky. Usually I use Fels Naptha bar soap in my recipe, but this time I decided to try Zote and it worked wonders. I really enjoy the smell and how soft our clothing turns out even after hang drying on the laundry line vs. the dryer.
    I will purchase again.

    Practical. Smells really nice.

This is the best thing to clean makeup brushes. Affordable, lasts forever, no gimmick, just works.

  6. Sanni

It helps get my makeup brushes clean but the smell I don’t prefer.

I bought this to use to clean my make up brushes because of the ingredients. It can also be used on delicate natural bristle brushes. It also really cleans sponges very well and removes all the stains. I just cut off a sliver and lay it in the palm of my hand, dampen the brushes, rub them on the soap in the palm of my hand, rinse, blot dry and lay flat to dry overnight. Cleans them, fast removes almost all the stains on every brush and I am very pleased with this soap. It’s affordable and works. It will definitely be something I will keep re-purchasing. It also is very good at removing stains from clothing…just dampen the stain, rub the soap on it and then throw it in the washing machine with the rest of the laundry. I also like Masters brush cleaner and preserver, but honestly this works just as well on most brushes. Masters conditions natural bristles a bit better so I do use that on my $$$ Hakuhodo squirrel brushes and also my Kolinsky and sable brushes but I have used the Zote on them and it didn’t hurt them. Just not as conditioned as they are with the Masters. Synthetics use Zote. It works perfectly.

Zote soap has gained popularity for its versatility and affordability. This Mexican laundry soap, available in various scents, is renowned for its effectiveness in stain removal and laundry cleaning. The large size of the bar offers long-lasting value, making it an economical choice for households.

Many users appreciate Zote for its multi-purpose applications beyond laundry, such as stain pre-treatment and as an ingredient in DIY cleaning solutions. The pleasant scent lingers on clothes, adding a fresh fragrance to the laundry.

However, some individuals with sensitive skin have reported mild irritation, possibly due to the soap’s strong formula. It’s advisable to perform a patch test before widespread use, especially for those with skin sensitivities.

Zote’s distinctive pink color and packaging make it easily recognizable on store shelves. Its eco-friendly nature, being biodegradable and phosphate-free, aligns with the preferences of environmentally conscious consumers.

In summary, Zote soap is a cost-effective and versatile option for laundry and cleaning tasks, though users with sensitive skin should exercise caution. Its efficacy and eco-friendly features contribute to its widespread appeal in the market.
